occur in most areas.
1 Fill the tank with water and household descaler or
vinegar (use a 4:1 solution) to the MAX level in coee
maker. You can also use citric acid to remove mineral
deposits, at a ratio of 100 parts water to three parts citric
acid.
2 Place the carafe on the warming plate. Make sure that
the center of the carafe lid aligns with the bottom of the
funnel. Also make sure that the funnel is in place and
that there is no dry coee in the lter.
3 Turn on the coee maker and allow it to “brew the
descaling solution.
4 After brewing about one cup of the solution, turn o the
coee maker and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then
repeat step 3.
5 Turn on the coee maker again and brew the descaling
solution until the water tank is dry.
6 Rinse the coee maker by running clear water through
the brewing cycle at least three times.
TIPS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE
A clean coee maker is essential for making
great-tasting coee. Regularly clean the coee maker as
specied in the “Cleaning and Maintenance section.
Always use fresh, cold water in the coee maker.
Store unused coee in a cool, dry place. After opening,
reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain
its freshness.
For an optimum coee taste, buy whole coee beans
and nely grind them just before brewing.
Do not reuse coee grounds and do not reheat brewed
coee.
Clean the coee maker when over-extraction causes
oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed,
black coee are due to the extraction of oil from the
coee. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily
roasted coees are used.
