2 Digital Display

Air Quality

The colored light under the digital display is a real-time indication of your indoor air quality. See page 6 for more details.

Fan Speed

The air220 has 5 different fan speeds ranging from low to high. It also has an auto mode (R) which can be selected using the Control Dial. For more details on Auto Mode, see page 6.

Night Mode

The air220 has an automated Night Mode. As less light enters a room, the lights on the Digital Display of the air220 will turn off to help create a peaceful sleeping environment.

System

When set to Auto Mode, the BISSELL® air220 uses its CirQulate® System to provide optimum filtration based on your home’s indoor air quality.

CirQulate uses the air220’s VOC sensor to detect the presence and level of VOC’s that may be in your home’s air.

Then, CirQulate’s colored light air quality feedback indicates the air quality level of your home in real-time, making your once invisible concerns visible.

NOTE: The air220’s VOC sensor requires 30 minutes to calibrate your home’s air quality after initially powering the air purifier ON.

Maintenance & Care

Filter Replacement

Each filter has easy pull tabs. The tabs should face outward. Insert the activated carbon filter before inserting the HEPA filter.

NOTE: Filter life varies based on run time and existing air conditions. It is recommended to replace both the HEPA and activated carbon filter once every six months.

Filter Reset Indicator & Filter Reset

If your digital display is showing F1 and/or F2, this means that either one or both of your filters needs to be replaced.

F1 means that your HEPA + Pre-Filter needs to be replaced. F2 means that your Carbon Filter needs to be replaced. If both F1 and F2 are flashing, both filters need to be replaced.

After replacing your filter (s), press and hold down the power button for 3 seconds to reset the filter (s). Once reset, the air220 will beep and the F1 and/or F2 will no longer show on the digital display.

#1 Can filters be blown out with air compressor?
You can blow it out to remove surface particles but it will not increase the life of the filter.

#2 How often do the filters need to be cleaned and or replaced? How much are the replacements?
I actually clean mine 1x a month and I didn't have tochange mine for like almost 10 month. I think I spent a total of $40 but that included for thr next 2 changing as well. You filter usually needs replaced more often the the bead things. I highly recommend this product.

#3 Is it quiet?
On the highest level it's as loud as a bladed fan at medium power. It's quite noticeable if you're in an absolutely quiet space and that's the only thing going. You add in the ambient noise of a house or apartment and it just fades into the background. I purchased 2 of these purifiers and I don't even hear them anymore. Hopefully this helps.

#4 Will this purifier reduce/eliminate residual odor in a crawl-space with a previous rodent problem? Ie -remove smell of rodent urine and feces?
Likely it can clear the air. But you will need to pick up the source of the smells too.

#5 What is warranty on Bissell 220 air purifier?
You can click on the link to the manufacturer to get the warranty on the page with the item. I bought this item for someone else, so I never saw the warranty.

#6 How durable are these? What could break them and how easily could they break?
It seems well made. The front grille work is plastic and the sides seem to be metal and heavier plastic. I suppose if you tossed it down the stairs or kicked it like a football, there might be a few dents, etc. As for the mechanics of the item, I've only had mine less than 6 months and it is still running well, no new noises or sounds.
