The available scientific evidence does not show that any health problems are associated with using low power wireless devices. There is no proof, however, that these low power wireless devices are absolutely safe. Low power wireless devices emit low levels of radio frequency energy (RF) in the microwave range while being used. Whereas high levels of RF can produce health effects (by heating tissue), exposure of low-level RF that does not produce heating effects causes no known adverse health effects. Many studies of low-level RF exposures have not found any biological effects. Some studies have suggested that some biological effects might occur, but such findings have not been confirmed by additional research. The unit has been tested and found to comply with ISED radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment and meets RSS-102 of the ISED radio frequency (RF) Exposure rules.

High volume may adversely affect your hearing.

Do not use the unit while walking, driving, or cycling. Doing so may cause traffic accidents.

Precautions

The two-dimensional code or the URL on the cover will help you access the help guide that describes useful notes or procedures in details.

On water resistant of the unit

• The charging case is not water resistant.

• Unless the unit is used correctly, water may get into the unit and cause fire, electrocution, or malfunctions. Note the following cautions carefully and use the unit correctly.

To maintain water resistant performance

Carefully note the precautions below to ensure proper use of the unit.

• Do not splash water forcibly into the sound output holes.

• Do not drop the unit into water, and do not use underwater.

• Do not allow the unit to remain wet in a cold environment, as the water may freeze. To prevent malfunction, make sure to wipe off any water after use.

• Do not place the unit in water or use it in a humid place such as a bathroom.

• Do not drop the unit or expose it to mechanical shock. Doing so may deform or damage the unit, resulting in deterioration of water resistance performance.

On BLUETOOTH® communications

• Microwaves emitting from a Bluetooth device may affect the operation of electronic medical devices. Turn off this unit and other Bluetooth devices in the following locations, as it may cause an accident:

– in hospitals, near priority seating in trains, locations where inflammable gas is present, near automatic doors, or near fire alarms.

On charging the unit

• Do not attach metallic objects such as stickers made from material containing metal on the wireless charging pad and unit. Doing so may cause fires, burns, or injuries.

• When using the wireless charging pad, do not place metallic objects such as straps or clips made from material containing metal on the wireless charging pad. Doing so may cause fires, burns, or injuries.

• When charging with the wireless charging pad, remove the parts such as covers attached to the charging case. Depending on the material or thickness of the cover, or due to foreign objects caught between the charging case and the cover, charging may not be performed properly, resulting in fires, burns, or injuries.

• When you have medical electric devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators implanted, consult your doctor before using the wireless charging pad. Radio waves may affect the operations of the medical electric devices.

• Do not bring IC cards, magnetic cards, or magnetized objects close to the wireless charging pad. Doing so may cause IC cards to malfunction. Magnetic data may be erased from cash cards, credit cards, telephone cards, or floppy disks. When strong magnetism is brought close by, it may cause the wireless charging pad to malfunction.

• The unit is charged when it is stored in the charging case. The charging case is compatible with the wireless charging pads that meet the Qi standard. Close the lid of the charging case and charge the charging case by placing it on the wireless charging pad with the SONY logo of the charging case facing upward. When charging, refer to the operating instructions of the wireless charging pad.

• Be sure to use the supplied USB Type-C cable.

Notes on wearing the unit

• After use, remove the headphones slowly.

• Because the earbud tips achieve a tight seal in the ears, forcibly pressing them in or quickly pulling them out can result in eardrum damage.

When wearing the earbud tips, the speaker diaphragm may produce a click sound. This is not a malfunction.

On the earbud tips (Noise Isolation Earbud tips)

• As the earbud tips fit more snugly in your ears, you may feel a strain to your ears. If you experience discomfort, discontinue use.

• Do not pull on the polyurethane foam portion of the earbud tips. If this portion is separated from the earbud tips, the earbud tips will not function.

• Do not subject the polyurethane foam portion of the earbud tips to pressure over long periods. It may cause deformation and it may be difficult to return the earbud tips to the original shape.

• When the earbud tips become dirty, do not wash them in water, but wipe off the dirt using a dry cloth. Do not use alcohol, etc. when cleaning. Doing so may quicken the deterioration.

• When the earbud tips get soaked, drain the liquid well and make sure that the earbud tips are dried before use or storage.

• The foam materials used in the earbud tips deteriorate through long-term use and storage. Replace the earbud tips as deterioration causes reduced performance.

Other notes

• If you experience discomfort while using the unit, stop using it immediately.

• If you have any questions or problems concerning this unit that are not covered in this manual, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Sony WF-1000XM4 Questions and Answers

#1 I Can't Hear Any Sound from My Headphones
- Make sure your audio source is on and the volume is up.
- If your headphones have a volume button or knob, make sure to turn it up.
- If you have battery-powered headphones, make sure there is enough charge.
- Check the connection of your headphones.

#2 How to use Bluetooth headphones for video calls on a
computer
- To use your headphones for video calls on your computer, you need to make sure that the Speaker and Microphone settings are set correctly. Otherwise, the voice of the other party may not be heard or the other party may not hear you.
- Before we walk you through the settings, it's important
that you know the different types of Bluetooth® profiles
and what they are used for. Advanced Audio Distribution
Profile (A2DP) is intended to playback music. The
Hands-free Profile (HFP) and Headset Profile (HSP) are
intended for voice calls.
- Depending on the video calling app, the voice call may
not be available when connected using the A2DP profile,
so make sure to select the HFP/HSP profile when you
want to use the headphones for video calls.
1. Establish a Bluetooth connection between your headphones and computerPut your headphones in Bluetooth pairing mode, and then on your computer open the Bluetooth settings and search for your headphones. The instructions may vary depending on your headphones and computer. If you need detailed instructions, check the headphonesand the manuals that came with your computer.
2. Set the Speaker and Microphone settings in the video calling app The images and descriptions used are examples and intended to provide general instructions. As Third Party providers release updates for their apps, the steps to get to a certain setting may change. If you need app specific details, or your video app isn't listed, refer to the app help page or manual for more information.

#3 Can I purchase the earbuds (headphones) or the charging
case separately?
How to replace an earbud, or charging case, will depend on your model. For more information, refer to the section for your model earbuds.
- If you lose or damage the earbuds, or the charging case, replacements are available for purchase.
- After you receive the replacement, perform a standard initialization. Follow these general instructions or for more detailed instructions
- Place the earbuds in the charging case.
- Hold your fingers on the touch sensors of both earbuds until the red indicator flashes on the charging case. This may take about 10 seconds.
- Release your fingers from the touch sensors within five seconds of the indicator flashing.
- The two sides of the headphones and the charging case are pre-set with information that allows them to communicate to and from each other. These settings can only be configured at an Authorized Service Center with all three components present. For this reason, you can't simply replace one missing part.
- If you lose the charging case or one of the earbuds, send the remaining items to an Authorized Service Center so that a replacement for the missing part can be reset with the remaining components.

#4 Do these support multi-device pairing?
These wireless headphones can be PAIRED with multiple devices at the same time, but unlike model WH-1000XM4: they cannot be CONNECTED with multiple devices at the same time. The WF-1000XM4 does currently not support Multi-point Connection. I hope this helps!

#5 What's the metal piece sticking out of the earbud?
The gold metallic pieces on each earbud are the microphones. Two noise-sensing microphones per ear – one feed-forward and one feed-back – on the surface of the headphones catch more of the ambient sounds of your surroundings, whether it’s in-flight noise, city traffic, or office chatter.

#6 Do the noise canceling/ambient setting save after being put in case? The mx3 always started in noise canceling and did not retain previous setting.
Yes, when you turn the headset on for the first time after purchase or just after initializing the headset, the noise canceling function is turned on automatically when you put the headset units into your ears. Any changes made to the settings are retained from this point on.
