I have had the fire over 12 months, never had to replace a bulb. It is frequently used Spring to Autumn.

Its not very tall and is ideal any where as long a the surface is flat

No it does not turn off when temperature is ok or turn on when temp is low It is not thermostatic.

Never done so but can see no reason why not.
