These arent nearly that smart, you have to turn it on everytime you take it off the charger and they do turn off automatically but like most features on these crappy headphones, its useless because the batteries will die overnight no matter what if you don't put it on the charger because it has a trickle charging issue.

Go to an electronics store and get a splitter. Tell them what you need to do. Do you have a fiber optic connection on your tv. You can hook to that also

The top light is solid red while it's charging and turns to green once the headset is fully charged. The only time I've seen the light blink is if it's not level so the headset contacts are not in continuous contact with the base.

The RS175 includes the optical cable that you will need. However, with my samsung tv it was necessary to go to the TV menu and change the sound setting - additional settings - audio format to "PCM". Then just use the switch on the back of the RS175 receiver to the "up" position when listening to the TV. You have the option of muting the TV or not. These are awesome headphones!
