TP-Link DECO M5(2-PACK) Questions and Answers

#1 Can I set one to a main router and another to a Ethernet switch connected to a client?

Yes. One can be the router, and another can be connected by Ethernet to a 'distant' wired device, or switch, as a client.

#2 Why does Deco need my phone number?

You will need to create a TP-Link ID account, but a phone number is not required.

#3 How many routers beyond the three is possible to connect?

Up to 10 TP link devices can be connected at once.

#4 Is this unit POE?? or does it need to be plugged into outlet?

It needs to be plugged into an AC outlet. Power adapters are provided

#5 I don't have a smart phone or tablet. Can I still connect/use this?

You cannot. You must use a smart phone or tablet to access the TP Link app to set up and to monitor afterward.

#6 Is the Deco Mesh 5 compatible with Mac equipment?

Yes, it is compatible with devices that connect via WiFi, and the Deco app is compatible with the following apple devices/OS.

#7 Does the system or App allow the manufacturer or other entity to monitor your internet usage?

Not really. I wouldn't rely on it for bandwidth useage calculations at all.

#8 Can I plug my Ooma telo system in one of these and still have it work throughout my home?

I have the Ooma system connected to one of the Deco unit's ethernet port. It is working fine.
