smaltimento di apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche usate (WEEE).
Le apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto contengono sostanze inquinanti (pericolose
per l'ambiente) e componenti riutilizzabili. Le apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto
devono essere sottoposte a trattamenti specifici per rimuovere e smaltire adeguatamente tutte le
sostanze inquinanti e per recuperare e riciclare i materiali.
Osservando alcune regole basilari, tutti possono contribuire a evitare danni ambientali causati dalle
apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto:
Le apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto non devono essere gestite come rifiuti
domestici.
Le apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto devono essere consegnate negli appositi
punti di raccolta gestiti dagli enti comunali o da aziende regolarmente registrate. In molti paesi è
prevista la raccolta a domicilio delle apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche di scarto di
dimensioni notevoli.
In molto paesi, quando si acquista un nuovo elettrodomestico, quello vecchio può essere restituito
al rivenditore che è obbligato a prelevarlo gratuitamente alla consegna di quello nuovo, purché sia
di tipo equivalente e abbia le stesse funzioni di quello fornito.

L'applicazione del contrassegno sul prodotto garantisce la conformità a tutti i requisiti in
materia di sicurezza, salute e ambiente previsti dalla legge.
