GE - General Electric GLD5808V00BB Questions and Answers

#1 What is the modifideid energy factor (MEF) and water factor (WF)

Model GLD5808V is not rated Energy Star. Energy Star qualified dishwashers are, on average, 10% more energy efficient and 12% more water efficient than standard models. Model GLD5808V has an Energy factor of 0.78. It uses 4 gallons of water per cycle and the annual electricity of kWh per year is 275 kWh.

Energy Factor (EF) is a measurement to compare relative efficiencies of dishwashers. The higher the EF, the more efficient the dishwasher. The EF is the energy performance metric of both the federal energy efficiency standard and the Energy Star qualified dishwasher program. The federal Energy Guide label on dishwashers shows the annual energy consumption and cost. EF is expressed in cycles per kWh and is the reciprocal of the sum of the machine electrical energy per cycle plus the water heater energy consumption per cycle.

The MEF of Modified Water Factor, is a criteria for clothes washers not dishwashers to meet the Energy star guidelines. Water Factor is determined by the number of gallons needed for each cu ft. of laundry.
