LG Electronics LFX25991ST Questions and Answers

#1 Are the side panels also stainless steel? Our sides will be exposed.

No, the sides are not stainless steel. They are a slightly darker metal that is easily kept clean -- and magnets can stick to them. Of course, magnets cannot stick to the stainless steel.

#2 Counter size referigertaor..LG 24.6 French Door. Is it brushed Stainless steel? What are the sizes.

Yes, it is brushed stainless steel. It is 70 inches high, 36 inches wide and 27 inches deep.

#3 stainless steel housing?

No, this refrigerator does not have stainless steel on the sides. The body of the refrigerator is a medium gray color. This may be a problem if the sides of the refrigerator are visible to people. Our previous refrigerator was white and it blended very well with our white cabinets, and walls. This unit does not blend well.

#4 What is the best way to clean this product? I have had it for 6 months and even with the water cleaning method recommended it discolors.

Thank you for your inquiry! There are many ways to clean the LG 24.5-cu ft. French Door Counter-Depth Refrigerator with Single Ice Maker, Model # LFX25991ST without having to resort to harsh chemicals. I understand your frustration on the discoloration and quite frankly, I would stay away from any product that causes discoloration. Please understand that this is not an LG issue! That is the nature of Stainless Steel. You might also want to have the water tested if it is causing discoloration, it might have a high acidity or too high an alkalinity or some other element present causing the discoloration. Just like wood, steel also has a grain. These are the very faint striations that can be found on the surface of your appliance. An entire sheet of steel will have the same direction grain. Avoid wiping perpendicular to the grain because more cleaning residue (mixed with any grime already on the steel) may get deeper into the tiny little crevices of the grain. For optimal shininess, its best to go with the grain. Use non-abrasive cleaning rags. 100% cotton works well because it has almost absolutely no residual lint. Dawn dish soap and baby mineral oil usually work. Some people have had a lot of success with Windex and lots of paper towels. Others have had success applying White Vinegar liberally using a Spray bottle, then wiped the vinegar off in the direction of the grain to get the initial debris off the appliance with either paper towels or a soft microfiber cloth. Then to get that bright shiny finish, they dipped the soft cloth in olive oil and used that to polish the surface to its natural shine working the cloth is the direction of the grain again! You can skip the olive oil part if you're not comfortable with that. Club soda also can be very effective in cleaning and brightening up Stainless Steel!.
