#1 When I empty the lint tray, there still appears to be lint inside where the tray is inserted. How do I make sure lint not accumulating beyond the tray?

If you are finding that you have excess lint in your dryer, we would suggest using a vacuum hose with a narrow attachment or a appliance cleaning brush to help clear that extra lint out of the unit.
