Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox® for your automotive sound system.
With proper installation, your new vehicle-specific enclosed subwoofer system
will deliver years of listening pleasure.
We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your
authorized JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your
dealer have the necessary tools and experience to disassemble and reassemble
your vehicle properly. If you prefer to perform your own installation, please read
this installation guide completely before beginning the process.
If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely
vital that the Stealthbox
®
be properly mounted to the vehicle
according to these instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure
properly presents two problems:
1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the
enclosure caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).
2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a
collision or sudden deceleration.

Note: For optimum performance, JL Audio recommends applying the included Foam Strips (or sound damping material) to surrounding plastic panels to reduce unwanted vibrations.
POWER RECOMMENDATION
JL Audio recommends high quality ampliers such as the JL Audio MX300/1. The diagram below shows the recommended crossover settings for the MX300/1. For a detailed description of the
amplier settings, consult the owner’s manual for the amplier. If another amplier is being used, please reference this illustration and use similar settings on that amplier.
CONNECTIONS
Using quality power, signal, and speaker wire is essential in ensuring the performance of your Stealthbox®. JL Audio recommends using a 4 AWG power kit such as the XD-PCS4-1B for your
Stealthbox® amplier. Other kits are available should you be using more than one amplier. Signal wire such as the JL Audio Premium Audio Interconnect Cables should be used to provide signal for
both channels of the amplier. JL Audio recommends using 12AWG speaker wire for subwoofers such as our XC-BCS12-25.

STEP 8
Remove the four T40 Torx screws from the base
of the rear upper panel.
STEP 7
Remove the two T40 Torx screws from the
center of the rear upper panel.
STEP 6
Pictured is the vehicle with the center console
removed.
STEP 5
Unclip and remove the two clips on the top of
the rear of the center console.
Pull up on the center console, guiding the seat
belt latches and parking brake handle through
the openings, and remove the center console.
STEP 4
Remove the two T40 Torx screws on the sides
of the console.
STEP 3
Unclip and remove the clip on the top of the
front of the center console.
STEP 2
Unclip and remove the clips on the sides of the
center console.
STEP 1
Empty the vehicle.
Lift up on the back of the seat bottom to
release the seats, and remove both seats from
vehicle.

Remove the rear lower panel.
STEP 14
Push the ECU harness down through the
opening in the back of the rear lower panel.
STEP 13
Unplug and remove the ECU.
STEP 12
Remove the four T20 Torx screws holding the
ECU to the rear lower panel.
STE P 11
Remove the two access panel doors from the
rear lower panel.
STEP 10
Unclip and remove the four clips at the base of
the rear lower panel.
STEP 9
Remove the two T40 Torx screws from the top
of the rear upper panel.

STEP 24
Reinstall the seat belt latches, and hand tighten
the two 5/8” Hex Bolts.
STEP 23
Slide the Stainless Steel Cushion Clamp around
the pipe on the passenger side, and align the
holes in the clamp with the threaded insert on
the side of the enclosure.
Thread a 1/4 - 20 x 1” Stainless Steel Serrated
Flange Bolt through the Stainless Steel Cushion
Clamp, into the threaded insert, and hand
tighten.
STEP 22
Slide the Top Bracket up and under the rear
upper panel, then align the holes in the
Bottom Bracket with the seat belt brackets as
shown.
STEP 21
Remove the adhesive backing from the Right
Side Heat Shield, align the holes in the Right
Side Heat Shield with the holes in the back
of the enclosure, and secure with #8 x 1/2”
Stainless Steel Phillips Pan Head Screws.
Repeat for the Left Side Heat Shield.
STEP 20
Align the holes in the Bottom Bracket with the
threaded inserts in the bottom of the
enclosure, and secure with two 1/4 - 20 x 1”
Stainless Steel Serrated Flange Bolts, as shown.
STEP 19
Align the holes in the Top Bracket with the
threaded inserts in the top of the enclosure,
and secure with four 1/4 - 20 x 1” Stainless Steel
Serrated Flange Bolts, as shown.
STEP 18
Apply Foam Tape to the back of the Top
Bracket as shown.
STEP 17
Remove the 5/8” hex nut from each seat belt
bracket, and move the seat belt latches out of
the way.

STEP 32
From the front of the rear lower panel, align
the Grille Trim within the recess in the center
of the panel, with the Grille Trim’s narrow side
positioned at the top.
Using a 1/8” drill bit, drill pilot holes through
each of the six holes in the Grille Trim and into
the rear lower panel.
STEP 31
Pictured is the back of the rear lower panel
with the factory heat shield removed.
STEP 30
From the back of the rear lower panel, remove
the four clips from the factory heat shield, and
remove the shield.
The factory heat shield will not be reinstalled.
STEP 29
Apply Foam Tape to the front of the enclosure
as shown.
STEP 28
Connect speaker cable to the barrier strip on
the driver side of the enclosure, and route the
cable as necessary.
STEP 27
Fully tighten the 1/4 - 20 x 1” Stainless Steel
Serrated Flange Bolt on the side passenger side
of the enclosure.
STEP 26
Fully tighten the 5/8” Hex Bolt on each seat
belt bracket.
STEP 25
Align the outer holes in the Top Bracket with
the factory holes in the rear upper panel.

STEP 40
Reinstall the two T40 Torx screws in the top of
the rear upper panel.
STEP 39
Reinstall the two T40 Torx screws in the center
of the rear upper panel.
STEP 38
Reinstall the T40 Torx screw at each end of the
rear upper panel.
STEP 37
Reinstall the two T40 Torx screws in the center
of the base of the rear upper panel first, as
these secure the Top Bracket to the vehicle.
STEP 36
Be sure the ECU harness is accessible and can
be guided back through the opening in the
rear lower panel.
STEP 35
Reinstall the rear lower panel.
STEP 34
Align the Grille Mesh and Grille Trim over the
rear lower panel. Secure with six 6 - 32 x 3/4”
Stainless Steel Button Head Cap Screws on the
front and six #6 Stainless Steel Flat Washers and
6 - 32 Stainless Steel Nylon Insert Locknuts on
the back.
STEP 33
Remove the Grille Trim. Using a 5/32” drill bit,
enlarge each of the six holes made in the
previous step.

STEP 43
Reinstall the seats.
STEP 42
Guide the seat belt latches through the
openings in the center console. Reinstall all
of the remaining clips and screws in the rear
lower panel and center console.
STEP 41
Reconnect and reinstall the ECU, then reinstall
the access panel door.
