SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS &
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WARNING: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other). This plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug
does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way or force it
into the outlet. This could result in injury or electric shock.
Short Cord Instructions
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of entanglement
or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or
extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a longer detachable power-supply extension cord is used:
1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as
great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over
the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or
tripped over.

How to Use the Gooseneck Kettle
Before First Use
For best results, follow these steps before using your kettle for the first time.
1. Remove all packaging materials, such as plastic bags and foam inserts.
Check to ensure that all parts and accessories are included before
throwing out packaging.
2. Read and remove any stickers on the kettle except for the rating label,
which should remain on the unit.
3. Pull the power cord out from the compartment under the base and place
the base on a flat surface. (Pull the power cord through the notch in the
base so the unit can sit level.) Open the kettle lid by grasping the lid handle
and gently pulling it up.
4. Prime the kettle before first use and clean it of any packing debris: Add
¾
cup distilled vinegar to the kettle, then fill the kettle with water up to the
MAX line. Close the lid, place the kettle on the base, and plug it into an
outlet.
5. Flip the switch to the ON position to bring the mixture to a boil. After the
boil, allow the kettle to cool before emptying it, then refill the kettle with
fresh water and bring it to a boil again.
6. Once complete, empty the kettle and rinse with clean water. It is now ready
for use.
Boiling Water in the Kettle
The kettle features a gooseneck spout for an accurate, controlled pour—perfect
for pour-over coffee. And it can sit on its power base from any direction, making
it easy to use whether you’re right- or left-handed.
1. Pull the power cord from underneath the base and place the base on a
hard, flat surface.
2. Open the kettle lid by grasping the lid handle and gently pulling up.
3. Fill the kettle to no higher than the MAX (0.8L) line with cold or room-
temperature water (preferably filtered or bottled). Replace the lid and
make sure it is closed tightly.
4. Place the kettle onto the base and plug in the power cord.
5. Press down the switch at the base of the kettle’s handle to the ON position.
The blue LED will illuminate the switch and heating will begin.

How to Use the Gooseneck Kettle
6. Once the water has boiled, the blue LED light will turn off, the switch will flip
to the OFF position, and the kettle will automatically power off.
CAUTION: Avoid touching the kettle itself during and after heating as its
exterior will be hot to the touch. (The handle stays cool.)
7. To serve, lift the kettle off its base and pour slowly to avoid splashing.
CAUTION: Always use care when pouring hot water and do not open the lid
while pouring, as this can cause hot water to splash.
Special Feature: Boil-Dry Protection
The kettle comes equipped with boil-dry protection and will automatically
shut off to avoid damaging the heating element if the unit goes dry or starts
without water. It will not come back on, even if you replace it on the base, until
it has cooled down. You can speed up the cool-down by adding cold water to
the kettle. To ensure a long life for your kettle, be sure there is ample water in it
before you turn it on.

Keep It Clean
To keep your water tasting fresh and your kettle in prime condition, we
recommend rinsing your kettle with water between each use and cleaning
often following the instructions below.
1. Unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. If necessary, discard any leftover water from the kettle. Clean the interior of
the kettle as needed with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Wipe the
outside of the kettle with a damp cloth and the power base with a dry cloth.
CAUTION: Never immerse the kettle’s power base, cord, or plug in water or
any other liquid. Do not wash any part in the dishwasher or use scouring
pads or abrasive cleaners; doing so can damage the unit.
3. Buildup caused by minerals commonly found in water can adversely affect
brewing. To descale the kettle, follow the descaling instructions below.
How to Descale the Kettle
Minerals dissolved in both tap and bottled water may, over time, build up and
form deposits on the base of the kettle and cause discoloration. To get the best
performance from your kettle, descale it from time to time. The frequency will
depend on the hardness of your water and how often you use the kettle. You
can either use a commercial descaler, following package directions, or a mix of
vinegar and water, following the directions below.
1. Add ¾ cup distilled vinegar to the kettle, then fill the kettle with water just
up to the MAX line.
2. Let the solution soak in the kettle for about 1 hour, then press the ON | OFF
switch to bring it to a boil. Repeat the boiling process with a cooled vinegar
mixture if needed until all deposits are removed.
3. Once complete, allow the kettle to cool and discard the mixture.
Thoroughly rinse out the kettle several times with fresh water.
