Know Before You Set Up Your

Smart Remote

This smart remote is designed to work with compatible

Amazon Echo devices.

1. Scan the QR code for a list of compatible Echo devices.

Notice: The following Echo devices are not compatible: Amazon

Echo (1st Gen), Amazon Echo Dot (1st Gen), Amazon Echo Link,

Amazon Echo Link Amp, Amazon Echo Plus (1st Gen), Amazon Echo

Show (1st Gen, 2nd Gen), Amazon Echo Spot (1st Gen), Amazon

Echo Sub, and Amazon Echo Tap.

2. Update your Echo device to the latest rmware by saying

Alexa, check for software updates.

3. When using your smart remote, stay within a

32.81ft (10m) radius of a compatible Echo device.

4. Before rst use, pull out the battery tag to turn on the

smart remote, then press any button to enter setup

mode.

You can control lighting, music, temperature,

announcements, multiple device types, and more.

Use the Alexa app to set up routines for your remote

buttons.

Setup in the Alexa App

NOTICE: You must use a compatible Echo device with

updated rmware to set up the smart remote.

1. Download the latest version of the Alexa app.

2. Tap More, then + on the top right, then select Device.

3. Tap Remote, then choose Amazon Basics.

4. Follow the in-app instructions to setup the device.

Understanding the LED indicator

LED blinks GREEN quickly

Resetting to Factory Defaults

1. Press and hold (button 1) and (button 4) for 10

seconds until the LED indicator blinks green quickly.

2. Delete your remote in the Alexa app. Go to Devices, tap

on your remote name, then tap Delete.

Mount Your Smart Remote on a

Flat or Magnetic Surface

Do not place the smart remote higher than 6.6ft (2m)

above the ground.

On a Flat Surface (Standalone)

Place the smart remote with its back resting on any at

surface without the wall plate.

On a Magnetic Surface

Place the back of the smart remote on a magnetic surface.

Magnets hold the smart remote in place.

Using Mounting Tape

1. Attach the mounting tape to the the wall plate’s tape

guides, then push the wall plate onto your mounting

surface.

2. Place the smart remote in the wall plate with the

horizontal bar at the top.

Using Screws (not provided)

You’ll need: Two countersunk screws (3x10mm or 3x15mm)

and Phillips screwdriver.

1. Pull the wall plate apart using the pry tool.

2. Mount the back of the wall plate to your

outlet box.

3. Attach the wall plate cover, then place the smart remote

in the wall plate with the horizontal bar at the top.

Replacing the Battery

1. Use the pry tool to open the battery cover.

Notice: Before rst use, pull out the battery tag to turn on

the smart remote.

2. Remove the battery with the pry tool and replace with a

new CR2032 battery. Make sure that the battery’s polarity

(+ and –) matches the indication inside the smart remote.

Place the side with the text facing up and rst insert the

battery into the compartment at the position marked with

a + sign.

3. Push the battery cover back onto the smart remote.

Troubleshooting

Problem 1

The smart remote isn’t working, and there is no

indication on the LED.

Solutions

1. If you are using your smart remote for the rst time,

make sure that you remove the battery tag protecting

the battery.

2. Make sure that the battery is installed correctly or try

replacing the battery.

Problem 2

The smart remote LED blinks RED quickly three times

while in setup mode and fails to nd a compatible

Echo device.

Solutions

1. Make sure a compatible Echo device is powered on and

set up in your Alexa account. If you have a compatible

Echo device and haven’t set it up, you can do it now.

Your Device.”

2. Make sure that your Echo device is updated to the

latest rmware version. See “Know Before You Set Up

Your Device” for information about how to update

your Echo device.

3. Make sure the green LED indicator on the smart

remote is blinking in the setup mode.

4. Make sure your smart remote is within 32.81ft (10m)

of a compatible Echo device.

Problem 3

The smart remote LED blinks RED once when a button

is pressed and the smart remote command fails to

reach the Echo device.

Solutions

1. Try to move the smart remote closer to your Echo

device. The remote should be within 32.81ft (10m) of

the Echo device.

2. Power o and power on the Echo device.

Problem 4

The smart remote LED blinks Green when a button is

pressed, but no routine is executed.

Solutions

1. Make sure you have routines set up in the Alexa app.

2. Make sure the device controlled by the routine is

powered on and connected.

3. Power o and power on the Echo device.

Problem 5

The smart remote is indicating low battery.

Solutions

1. Replace your device battery with a new 3V CR2032

battery. For convenient battery ordering, see

“Supplies” in your smart remote’s settings in the Alexa

app. See “Replacing the Battery.”

Problem 6

My Echo device takes some time to respond when

using my smart remote to control music.

Solutions

1. Allow time for your Echo device to buer music after

pressing your remote button.
