SAFETY WARNINGS

General power tool safety warnings

WARNING Read all safety warnings, instruc-

tions, illustrations and specications provided with

this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed

belowmayresultinelectricshock,reand/orserious

injury.

Save all warnings and instruc-

tions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your

mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated

(cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or

dark areas invite accidents.

2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmo-

spheres, such as in the presence of ammable

liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks

which may ignite the dust or fumes.

3. Keep children and bystanders away while

operating a power tool. Distractions can cause

you to lose control.

Electrical safety

1. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never

modify the plug in any way. Do not use any

adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power

tools. Unmodiedplugsandmatchingoutletswill

reduce risk of electric shock.

2. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded

surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and

refrigerators. There is an increased risk of elec-

tric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

3. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet con-

ditions. Water entering a power tool will increase

the risk of electric shock.

4. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for

carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.

Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges

or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords

increase the risk of electric shock.

5. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an

extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of

a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of

electric shock.

6. If operating a power tool in a damp location is

unavoidable, use a ground fault circuit inter-

rupter (GFCI) protected supply. Use of a GFCI

reduces the risk of electric shock.

7. Power tools can produce electromagnetic

elds (EMF) that are not harmful to the user.

However, users of pacemakers and other similar

medical devices should contact the maker of their

device and/or doctor for advice before operating

this power tool.

Personal safety

1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use

common sense when operating a power tool.

Do not use a power tool while you are tired or

under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or med-

ication. A moment of inattention while operating

powertoolsmayresultinseriouspersonalinjury.

2. Use personal protective equipment. Always

wear eye protection. Protective equipment such

as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or

hearing protection used for appropriate conditions

willreducepersonalinjuries.

3. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the

switch is in the o󰀨-position before connecting

to power source and/or battery pack, picking

up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with

yourngerontheswitchorenergisingpowertools

that have the switch on invites accidents.

4. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before

turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left

attached to a rotating part of the power tool may

resultinpersonalinjury.

5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and

balance at all times. This enables better control

of the power tool in unexpected situations.

6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or

jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away

from moving parts.Looseclothes,jewelleryor

long hair can be caught in moving parts.

7. If devices are provided for the connection of

dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure

these are connected and properly used. Use of

dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

8. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use

of tools allow you to become complacent and

ignore tool safety principles. A careless action

cancausesevereinjurywithinafractionofa

second.

9. Always wear protective goggles to protect

your eyes from injury when using power tools.

The goggles must comply with ANSI Z87.1 in

the USA.

It is an employer's responsibility to enforce the

use of appropriate safety protective equipment

by the tool operators and by other persons in

the immediate working area.

Power tool use and care

1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct

power tool for your application. The correct

powertoolwilldothejobbetterandsaferatthe

rate for which it was designed.

2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does

not turn it on and o󰀨. Any power tool that cannot

be controlled with the switch is dangerous and

must be repaired.

3. Disconnect the plug from the power source

and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable,

from the power tool before making any adjust-

ments, changing accessories, or storing power

tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce

the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of chil-

dren and do not allow persons unfamiliar with

the power tool or these instructions to operate

the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the

hands of untrained users.

5. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check

for misalignment or binding of moving parts,

breakage of parts and any other condition that

may a󰀨ect the power tool’s operation. If dam-

aged, have the power tool repaired before use.

Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained

power tools.

6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly

maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges

are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits

etc. in accordance with these instructions, tak-

ing into account the working conditions and

the work to be performed. Use of the power tool

foroperationsdi󰀨erentfromthoseintendedcould

result in a hazardous situation.

8. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,

clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery

handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for

safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected

situations.

9. When using the tool, do not wear cloth work

gloves which may be entangled. The entangle-

ment of cloth work gloves in the moving parts may

resultinpersonalinjury.

Battery tool use and care

1. Recharge only with the charger specied by

the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for

onetypeofbatterypackmaycreateariskofre

when used with another battery pack.

2. Use power tools only with specically desig-

nated battery packs. Use of any other battery

packsmaycreateariskofinjuryandre.

3. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away

from other metal objects, like paper clips,

coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal

objects, that can make a connection from

one terminal to another. Shorting the battery

terminalstogethermaycauseburnsorare.

4. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be

ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If con-

tact accidentally occurs, ush with water. If

liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical

help.Liquidejectedfromthebatterymaycause

irritation or burns.

5. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is dam-

aged or modied.Damagedormodiedbatteries

may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in

re,explosionorriskofinjury.

6. Do not expose a battery pack or tool to re

or excessive temperature.Exposuretoreor

temperature above 130 °C (265°F) may cause

explosion.

7. Follow all charging instructions and do not

charge the battery pack or tool outside the

temperature range specied in the instruc-

tions. Charging improperly or at temperatures

outsidethespeciedrangemaydamagethe

batteryandincreasetheriskofre.

Service

1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualied

repair person using only identical replacement

parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power

tool is maintained.

2. Never service damaged battery packs. Service

of battery packs should only be performed by the

manufacturer or authorized service providers.

3. Follow instruction for lubricating and chang-

ing accessories.

4. Do not modify or attempt to repair the appli-

ance or the battery pack except as indicated in

the instructions for use and care.

Cordless hammer driver drill safety

warnings

Safety instructions for all operations

1. Wear ear protectors when impact drilling.

Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.

2. Use the auxiliary handle(s). Loss of control can

causepersonalinjury.

3. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping

surfaces, when performing an operation where

the cutting accessory or fasteners may contact

hidden wiring. Cutting accessory or fasteners

contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal

parts of the power tool "live" and could give the

operator an electric shock.

4. Always be sure you have a rm footing. Be

sure no one is below when using the tool in

high locations.

5. Hold the tool rmly.

6. Keep hands away from rotating parts.

7. Do not leave the tool running. Operate the tool

only when hand-held.

8. Do not touch the drill bit or the workpiece

immediately after operation; they may be

extremely hot and could burn your skin.

9. Some material contains chemicals which may

be toxic. Take caution to prevent dust inhala-

tion and skin contact. Follow material supplier

safety data.

10. If the drill bit cannot be loosened even you

open the jaws, use pliers to pull it out. In such a

case, pulling out the drill bit by hand may result in

injurybyitssharpedge.

11. Make sure there are no electrical cables, water

pipes, gas pipes etc. that could cause a hazard

if damaged by use of the tool.

Safety instructions when using long drill bits

1. Never operate at higher speed than the max-

imum speed rating of the drill bit. At higher

speeds, the bit is likely to bend if allowed to rotate

freely without contacting the workpiece, resulting

inpersonalinjury.

2. Always start drilling at low speed and with the

bit tip in contact with the workpiece. At higher

speeds, the bit is likely to bend if allowed to rotate

freely without contacting the workpiece, resulting

inpersonalinjury.

3. Apply pressure only in direct line with the bit

and do not apply excessive pressure. Bits can

bend causing breakage or loss of control, resulting

inpersonalinjury.

Important safety instructions for

battery cartridge

1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-

tions and cautionary markings on (1) battery

charger, (2) battery, and (3) product using

battery.

2. Do not disassemble or tamper with the battery

cartridge.Itmayresultinare,excessiveheat,

or explosion.

3. If operating time has become excessively

shorter, stop operating immediately. It may

result in a risk of overheating, possible burns

and even an explosion.

4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them

out with clear water and seek medical atten-

tion right away. It may result in loss of your

eyesight.

5. Do not short the battery cartridge:

(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-

ductive material.

(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-

tainer with other metal objects such as

nails, coins, etc.

(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water

or rain.

A battery short can cause a large current

ow, overheating, possible burns and even a

breakdown.

6. Do not store and use the tool and battery car-

tridge in locations where the temperature may

reach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).

7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even if

it is severely damaged or is completely worn

out. The battery cartridge can explode in a re.

8. Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the battery

cartridge, or hit against a hard object to the

battery cartridge. Such conduct may result in a

re,excessiveheat,orexplosion.

9. Do not use a damaged battery.

10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subject

to the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-

ments.

For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,

forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-

aging and labeling must be observed.

For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-

ing an expert for hazardous material is required.

Please also observe possibly more detailed

national regulations.

Tapeormasko󰀨opencontactsandpackupthe

battery in such a manner that it cannot move

around in the packaging.

11. When disposing the battery cartridge, remove

it from the tool and dispose of it in a safe

place. Follow your local regulations relating to

disposal of battery.

12. Use the batteries only with the products

specied by Makita. Installing the batteries to

non-compliantproductsmayresultinare,exces-

sive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.

13. If the tool is not used for a long period of time,

the battery must be removed from the tool.

14. During and after use, the battery cartridge may

take on heat which can cause burns or low

temperature burns. Pay attention to the han-

dling of hot battery cartridges.

15. Do not touch the terminal of the tool imme-

diately after use as it may get hot enough to

cause burns.

16. Do not allow chips, dust, or soil stuck into the

terminals, holes, and grooves of the battery

cartridge.Itmaycauseheating,catchingre,

burst and malfunction of the tool or battery car-

tridge,resultinginburnsorpersonalinjury.

17. Unless the tool supports the use near

high-voltage electrical power lines, do not use

the battery cartridge near high-voltage electri-

cal power lines. It may result in a malfunction or

breakdown of the tool or battery cartridge.

18. Keep the battery away from children.

CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.

Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries that

have been altered, may result in the battery bursting

causingres,personalinjuryanddamage.Itwill

also void the Makita warranty for the Makita tool and

charger.

NOTICE: Makita is not responsible for any accidents

resulting from the use of non-genuine Makita batter-

iesorbatteriesthathavebeenmodied.Genuine

Makita batteries have been rigorously evaluated for

compatibility with Makita tools and chargers, in line

with applicable legislation and safety standards.

Tips for maintaining maximum

battery life

1. Charge the battery cartridge before completely

discharged. Always stop tool operation and

charge the battery cartridge when you notice

less tool power.

2. Never recharge a fully charged battery car-

tridge. Overcharging shortens the battery

service life.

3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tem-

perature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Let

a hot battery cartridge cool down before

charging it.

4. When not using the battery cartridge, remove

it from the tool or the charger.

5. Charge the battery cartridge if you do not use

it for a long period (more than six months).

FUNCTIONAL

DESCRIPTION

CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is

switched o󰀨 and the battery cartridge is removed

before adjusting or checking function on the tool.

Installing or removing battery

cartridge

CAUTION: Always switch o󰀨 the tool before

installing or removing of the battery cartridge.

CAUTION: Hold the tool and the battery car-

tridge rmly when installing or removing battery

cartridge. Failure to hold the tool and the battery

cartridgermlymaycausethemtoslipo󰀨yourhands

and result in damage to the tool and battery cartridge

andapersonalinjury.

To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the

battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip

it into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in place

with a little click. If you can see the red indicator as

showninthegure,itisnotlockedcompletely.

To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the tool

while sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.

CAUTION: Always install the battery cartridge

fully until the red indicator cannot be seen. If not,

itmayaccidentallyfalloutofthetool,causinginjuryto

you or someone around you.

CAUTION: Do not install the battery cartridge

forcibly. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is

not being inserted correctly.

Indicating the remaining battery

capacity

Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indi-

cate the remaining battery capacity. The indicator lamps

light up for a few seconds.

NOTE: Depending on the conditions of use and the

the battery protection system works.

Tool / battery protection system

The tool is equipped with a tool/battery protection sys-

tem.Thissystemautomaticallycutso󰀨powertothe

motor to extend tool and battery life. The tool will auto-

matically stop during operation if the tool or battery is

placed under one of the following conditions:

Overload protection

When the tool is operated in a manner that causes it to

draw an abnormally high current, the tool stops auto-

matically.Inthissituation,turnthetoolo󰀨andstopthe

application that caused the tool to become overloaded.

Then turn the tool on to restart.

Overheat protection

When the tool is overheated, the tool stops automati-

cally and the lamp blinks. In this situation, let the tool/

battery cool before turning the tool on again.

Overdischarge protection

When the battery capacity is not enough, the tool stops

automatically. In this case, remove the battery from the

tool and charge the battery.

Protections against other causes

The protection system is also designed for other causes

that could damage the tool and allows the tool to stop

automatically. Take all the following steps to clear the

causes when the tool has been brought to a temporary

halt or stop in operation.

1. Turnthetoolo󰀨,andthenturnitonagainto

restart.

2. Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them with

recharged battery(ies).

3. Let the tool and battery(ies) cool down.

If no improvement can be found by restoring the pro-

tection system, then contact your local Makita Service

Center.

Electric brake

This tool is equipped with an electric brake. If the tool

consistently fails to quickly stop after the switch trigger

is released, have the tool serviced at a Makita service

center.

Switch action

CAUTION: Before installing the battery car-

tridge into the tool, always check to see that the

switch trigger actuates properly and returns to

the "OFF" position when released.

To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Tool

speed is increased by increasing pressure on the switch

trigger. Release the switch trigger to stop.

NOTE: The tool automatically stops if you keep pull-

ing the switch trigger for about 6 minutes.

Lighting up the front lamp

CAUTION: Do not look into the light or look

directly at the light source.

Pull the switch trigger to light up the front lamp. The

front lamp keeps on lighting while the switch trigger is

being pulled. The front lamp goes out approximately 10

seconds after releasing the switch trigger.

Light mode

Long-press the button to activate light mode.

In light mode, the front lamp remains lit for 1 hour.

Thefrontlampautomaticallyturnso󰀨after1hour.To

turn the front lamp manually, press and hold the but-

ton .

NOTE: When the tool is overheated, the tool stops

automaticallyandthefrontlampstartsashing.Inthis

case, release the switch trigger. The front lamp turns

o󰀨inoneminute.

NOTE:Useadryclothtowipethedirto󰀨thelensof

the front lamp. Be careful not to scratch the lens of

the front lamp, or it may lower the illumination.

NOTE: The front lamp is brighter in light mode than

during normal operation.

Reversing switch action

CAUTION: Always check the direction of

rotation before operation.

CAUTION: Use the reversing switch only after

the tool comes to a complete stop. Changing the

direction of rotation before the tool stops may dam-

age the tool.

CAUTION: When not operating the tool,

always set the reversing switch lever to the neu-

tral position.

This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction

of rotation. Depress the reversing switch lever from the

A side for clockwise rotation or from the B side for coun-

terclockwise rotation.

When the reversing switch lever is in the neutral posi-

tion, the switch trigger cannot be pulled.

Speed change

CAUTION: Always set the speed change lever

fully to the correct position. If you operate the tool

with the speed change lever positioned in between

"1" and "2" or "2" and "3", the tool may be damaged.

CAUTION: Do not use the speed change lever

while the tool is running. The tool may be damaged.

This tool has a speed change lever. To change the

speed,rstswitcho󰀨thetoolandthenslidethespeed

change lever to the "1" position for low speed, "2" posi-

tion for medium speed or "3" position for high speed. Be

sure that the speed change lever is set to the correct

position before operation. Select the appropriate speed

for your application.

Ifthetoolspeeddecreasessignicantlyduringopera-

tion at high or medium speed, switch the speed change

lever one speed lower and restart the operation.

NOTE:Ifthespeedchangeleverisdi󰀩culttoslide,

return the speed change lever to its previous position,

brieypulltheswitchtrigger,andthenslidethespeed

change lever again.

Selecting the action mode

NOTICE: Always set the ring correctly to your

desired mode mark. If you operate the tool with the

ring positioned halfway between the mode marks, the

tool may be damaged.

NOTICE: Do not change the action mode while

rotating.

This tool has three action modes.

•

Drilling mode (rotation only)

•

Hammer drilling mode (rotation with

hammering)

•

Screwdriving mode (rotation with clutch)

Select one mode suitable for your work. Turn the

action mode changing ring and align the mark that you

selected with the arrow on the tool body.

Adjusting the fastening torque

CAUTION:Makesurethatthedialisclean.Dependingontheworkenvironment,foreignobjectssuchasiron

scrapsorchipsmayadheretothedialandcausethepersonalinjury.

Thefasteningtorquecanbeadjustedin41levelsinlowspeed,30levelsinmediumspeed,and25levelsinhigh

speed.

1. Align the

marking with the arrow on the tool body by turning the action mode changing ring.

2. Pull the switch trigger and release it (or push the button) to turn on the indicator.

3. Push the button, and the green light blinks.

4. Turnthedial,andadjustthetorquelevelwhilethegreenlightisblinking.

5. Push the button to set the value.

To obtain a suitable torque level, perform a test drive with a workpiece of the same material that you are going to

screw.

The following shows a rough guide of the relationship between the screw size and graduation.

• Active Feedback sensing Technology

If the tool is swung at the predetermined accelera-

tion during operation, the motor is forcibly stopped

to reduce the burden on the wrist.

Turn the sleeve counterclockwise to open the chuck

jaws.Placethedriverbit/drillbitinthechuckasfar

as it will go. Turn the sleeve clockwise to tighten the

chuck. To remove the driver bit/drill bit, turn the sleeve

counterclockwise.

Installing side grip (auxiliary handle)

Always use the side grip to ensure operating safety.

Attach the side grip so that the protrusions on the grip

baseandsteelbandtinthegroovesonthetoolbarrel.

Then tighten the grip by turning clockwise.

Depending on the operations, you can attach the side

grip upward or right/left side of the tool.

Installing hook

WARNING: Use the hanging/mounting parts

for their intended purposes only, e.g., hanging the

tool on a tool belt between jobs or work intervals.

WARNING: Be careful not to overload the

hook as too much force or irregular overburden

may cause damage to the tool resulting in per-

sonal injury.

The hook is convenient for temporarily hanging the tool.

This can be installed on either side of the tool. To install

the hook, insert it into a groove in the tool housing on

either side and then secure it with a screw. To remove,

loosen the screw and then take it out.

Using hole

WARNING: Never use the hanging hole for

a purpose other than its intended purpose; for

instance, tethering the tool at high location.

Bearing stress in a heavily loaded hole may cause

damagetothehole,resultingininjuriestoyouor

people around or below you.

Use the hanging hole at the bottom rear of the tool to

hang the tool on a wall using a hanging cord or similar

strings.

Installing driver bit holder

Optional accessory

Fit the driver bit holder into the protrusion at the tool foot

on either right or left side and secure it with a screw.

When not using the driver bit, keep it in the driver bit

holders. Driver bits 45 mm-long (1-3/4") can be kept

there.

OPERATION

the tool malfunctions, foreign matter enters the

tool, or abnormal noises are heard. Contact Makita

Screwdriving operation

NOTICE: Make sure that the driver bit is inserted

straight in the screw head, or the screw and/or driver

bit may be damaged.

First, turn the action mode changing ring so that the

arrow on the tool body points to the marking, and

adjustthetorquelevel.

Place the point of the driver bit in the screw head and

apply pressure to the tool. Start the tool slowly and then

increase the speed gradually. Release the switch trigger

as soon as the tool stops the rotation automatically and

the green light turns on for 5 seconds.

NOTE: When driving a wood screw, pre-drill a pilot

hole 2/3 the diameter of the screw. It makes driving

easier and prevents splitting of the workpiece.

NOTE: In a cold environment, the tool may stop at

lower torque level depending on circumstances.

Hammer drilling operation

CAUTION: There is a tremendous and sud-

den twisting force exerted on the tool/drill bit

at the time of hole breakthrough, when the hole

becomes clogged with chips and particles, or

when striking reinforcing rods embedded in the

concrete.

First, turn the action mode changing ring so that the

arrow on the tool body points to the marking.

Be sure to use a tungsten-carbide tipped drill bit.

Position the drill bit at the desired location for the hole,

then pull the switch trigger. Do not force the tool. Light

pressure gives best results. Keep the tool in position

and prevent it from slipping away from the hole.

Do not apply more pressure when the hole becomes

clogged with chips or particles. Instead, run the tool at

an idle, then remove the drill bit partially from the hole.

By repeating this several times, the hole will be cleaned

out and normal drilling may be resumed.

After drilling the hole, use the blow-out bulb to clean the

dust out of the hole.

Drilling operation

First, turn the action mode changing ring so that the

arrow points to the marking. Then proceed as

follows.

Drilling in wood

When drilling in wood, the best results are obtained

with wood drills equipped with a guide screw. The guide

screw makes drilling easier by pulling the drill bit into

the workpiece.

Drilling in metal

To prevent the drill bit from slipping when starting a

hole, make an indentation with a center-punch and

hammer at the point to be drilled. Place the point of the

drill bit in the indentation and start drilling.

Use a cutting lubricant when drilling metals. Some iron

and brass which should be drilled dry are exceptions.

CAUTION: Pressing excessively on the tool

will not speed up the drilling. In fact, this excessive

pressure will only serve to damage the tip of your drill

bit, decrease the tool performance and shorten the

service life of the tool.

CAUTION: Hold the tool rmly and exert care

when the drill bit begins to break through the

workpiece. There is a tremendous force exerted on

the tool/drill bit at the time of hole break through.

CAUTION: A stuck drill bit can be removed

simply by setting the reversing switch to reverse

rotation in order to back out. However, the tool

may back out abruptly if you do not hold it rmly.

CAUTION: Always secure workpieces in a

vise or similar hold-down device.

CAUTION: If the tool is operated continuously

until the battery cartridge has discharged, allow

the tool to rest for 15 minutes before proceeding

with a fresh battery.

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is

switched o󰀨 and the battery cartridge is removed

before attempting to perform inspection or

maintenance.

NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,

alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or

cracks may result.

Seguridad eléctrica

Uso y cuidado de la herramienta a batería

1. Recargue sólo con el cargador especicado

por el fabricante. Un cargador que es adecuado

para un solo tipo de batería puede generar riesgo

de incendio al ser utilizado con otra batería.

2. Utilice las herramientas eléctricas solamente

con las baterías designadas especícamente

para ellas. La utilización de cualquier otra batería

puede crear un riesgo de lesiones o incendio.

3. Cuando no se esté usando la batería, mantén-

gala alejada de otros objetos metálicos, como

sujetapapeles (clips), monedas, llaves, clavos,

tornillos u otros objetos pequeños de metal

los cuales pueden actuar creando una cone-

xión entre las terminales de la batería. Originar

un cortocircuito en las terminales puede causar

quemaduras o incendios.

4. En condiciones abusivas, podrá escapar

líquido de la batería; evite tocarlo. Si lo toca

accidentalmente, enjuague con agua. Si hay

tencia médica. Puede que el líquido expulsado

sionar una situación inesperada provocando un

incendio, explosión o riesgo de lesiones.

6. No exponga la herramienta ni la batería al

fuego ni a una temperatura excesiva. La expo-

sición al fuego a una temperatura superior a 130

°C (265 °F) podría causar una explosión.

7. Siga todas las instrucciones para la carga y

una descarga eléctrica al operador.

4. Asegúrese siempre de que pisa sobre suelo

rme. Asegúrese de que no haya nadie debajo

cuando utilice la herramienta en lugares altos.

5. Sujete la herramienta con rmeza.

6. Mantenga las manos alejadas de las piezas

giratorias.

7. No deje la herramienta funcionando. Ponga la

herramienta en marcha únicamente cuando la

tenga con usted.

8. No toque la broca de taladro o la pieza de tra-

bajo inmediatamente después de la operación,

3. Aplique presión solo en línea directa con la

broca y no aplique presión excesiva. Las bro-

Instrucciones importantes de

seguridad para el cartucho de

batería

1. Antes de utilizar el cartucho de batería, lea

todas las instrucciones e indicaciones de

precaución en el (1) el cargador de batería, (2)

la batería, y (3) el producto con el que se utiliza

la batería.

2. No desarme ni modique el cartucho de bate-

ría. Podría ocurrir un incendio, calor excesivo o

una explosión.

3. Si el tiempo de operación se ha acortado en

exceso, deje de operar de inmediato. Podría

correrse el riesgo de sobrecalentamiento,

posibles quemaduras e incluso explosión.

4. En caso de que ingresen electrolitos en sus

ojos, enjuáguelos bien con agua limpia y con-

sulte de inmediato a un médico. Esto podría

ocasionar pérdida de visión.

5. Evite cortocircuitar el cartucho de batería:

(1) No toque las terminales con ningún mate-

rial conductor.

(2) Evite guardar el cartucho de batería en un

cajón junto con otros objetos metálicos,

tales como clavos, monedas, etc.

(3) No exponga el cartucho de batería al

agua o la lluvia.

Un cortocircuito en la batería puede causar

un ujo grande de corriente, sobrecalenta-

miento, posibles quemaduras e incluso una

descompostura.

6. No guarde ni utilice la herramienta y el cartu-

cho de batería en lugares donde la tempera-

tura pueda alcanzar o exceder los 50 °C (122

°F).

7. Nunca incinere el cartucho de batería incluso

en el caso de que esté dañado seriamente o

ya no sirva en absoluto. El cartucho de batería

puede explotar si se tira al fuego.

8. No clave, corte, aplaste, lance o deje caer el

cartucho de batería, ni golpee un objeto sólido

contra el cartucho de batería. Dicha acción

podría resultar en un incendio, calor excesivo o en

una explosión.

9. No use una batería dañada.

10. Las baterías de ión de litio están sujetas a los

requisitos reglamentarios en materia de bie-

nes peligrosos.

Paraeltrasportecomercial,porej.,mediante

terceros o agentes de transporte, se deben tomar

en cuenta los requisitos especiales relativos al

empaque y el etiquetado.

Para efectuar los preparativos del artículo que se

va a enviar, se requiere consultar a un experto

en materiales peligrosos. Si es posible, consulte

además otras regulaciones nacionales más deta-

lladas.

Pegue o cubra con cinta adhesiva los contactos

abiertos y empaque la batería de manera que ésta

no pueda moverse dentro del paquete.

11. Para deshacerse del cartucho de batería,

sáquelo de la herramienta y deséchelo en un

lugar seguro. Siga las regulaciones locales

12. Utilice las baterías únicamente con los pro-

ductos especicados por Makita. Instalar las

baterías en productos que no cumplan con los

requisitos podría ocasionar un incendio, un calen-

tamiento excesivo, una explosión o una fuga de

electrolito.

13. Si no se utiliza la herramienta por un

período largo, debe extraerse la batería de la

herramienta.

14. El cartucho de batería podría absorber calor

durante y después de su uso, lo que ocasiona-

ría quemaduras o quemaduras a baja tempe-

ratura. Tenga cuidado con la manipulación de

los cartuchos de batería que estén calientes.

15. No toque el terminal de la herramienta inme-

Consejos para alargar al máximo

la vida útil de la batería

1. Cargue el cartucho de batería antes de que

se descargue completamente. Pare siem-

pre la operación y cargue el cartucho de

batería cuando note menos potencia en la

herramienta.

2. No cargue nunca un cartucho de batería que

esté completamente cargado. La sobrecarga

acortará la vida de servicio de la batería.

3. Cargue el cartucho de batería a una tempera-

tura ambiente de 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F).

Si un cartucho de batería está caliente, déjelo

enfriar antes de cargarlo.

4. Cuando no utilice el cartucho de batería,

sáquelo de la herramienta o del cargador.

5. Cargue el cartucho de batería si no va a utili-

zarlo durante un período prolongado (más de

seis meses).

Para instalar el cartucho de batería, alinee la lengüeta

sobre el cartucho de batería con la ranura en la carcasa

y deslícela hasta su lugar. Insértelo por completo hasta

quesejeensulugarconunpequeñoclic.Sipuede

verelindicadorrojocomosemuestraenlailustración,

este no ha quedado asegurado por completo.

Para quitar el cartucho de batería, deslícelo de la herra-

mienta mientras desliza el botón sobre la parte delan-

tera del cartucho.

PRECAUCIÓN: Introduzca siempre com-

pletamente el cartucho de batería hasta que

el indicador rojo no pueda verse. Si no, podría

accidentalmente salirse de la herramienta y caer al

suelo causando una lesión a usted o alguien a su

alrededor.

PRECAUCIÓN: No instale el cartucho de

batería a la fuerza. Si el cartucho no se desliza al

interior fácilmente, se debe a que no está siendo

insertado correctamente.

Indicación de la capacidad restante

de la batería

Sistema de protección para la

herramienta/batería

La herramienta está equipada con un sistema de pro-

tección de la herramienta/batería. Este sistema corta

en forma automática el suministro de energía al motor

para prolongar la vida útil de la herramienta y la batería.

La herramienta se detendrá automáticamente durante

la operación si la herramienta o la batería se someten a

una de las siguientes condiciones:

Protección contra sobrecarga

Cuando la herramienta sea operada de tal forma que

cause que use una cantidad de corriente anormalmente

alta, la herramienta se detendrá automáticamente.

En esta situación, apague la herramienta y detenga

la aplicación que haya causado que la herramienta

se sobrecargara. Luego encienda la herramienta para

reiniciarla.

Protección contra

sobrecalentamiento

Cuando la herramienta se sobrecaliente, la herramienta

se detendrá automáticamente y la lámpara parpadeará.

En este caso, permita que la herramienta/batería se

enfríe antes de volver a encender la herramienta.

Protección en caso de

sobredescarga

Cuandolacapacidaddelabateríanoessuciente,la

herramienta se detiene automáticamente. En este caso,

retire la batería de la herramienta y cárguela.

Protección contra otras causas

El sistema de protección también está diseñado para

otras causas que podrían dañar la herramienta, y per-

mite que la herramienta se detenga automáticamente.

Siga todos los pasos a continuación para eliminar las

causas cuando la herramienta se haya detenido tempo-

ralmente o se haya detenido durante el funcionamiento.

1. Apague la herramienta, y luego enciéndala nueva-

mente para reiniciarla.

2. Cargue la(s) batería(s) o reemplácela(s) con

batería(s) recargada(s).

3. Dejequelaherramientayla(s)batería(s)se

enfríen.

Sinohayningunamejoraalrestaurarelsistemade

protección, comuníquese con su centro local de servi-

cio Makita.

Freno eléctrico

Esta herramienta está equipada con un freno eléctrico.

Si de manera consistente la herramienta no logra dete-

nerse rápidamente después de soltar el gatillo interrup-

tor, lleve la herramienta a un centro de servicio Makita

para que le den mantenimiento.

Accionamiento del interruptor

PRECAUCIÓN: Antes de insertar el cartucho

de batería en la herramienta, compruebe siem-

pre y cerciórese de que el gatillo interruptor se

acciona debidamente y que vuelve a la posición

“OFF” (apagado) cuando lo suelta.

Para poner en marcha la herramienta, simplemente

apriete el gatillo interruptor. La velocidad de la herra-

mienta aumenta incrementando la presión en el gatillo.

Para detenerla, suelte el gatillo.

Iluminación de la luz delantera

PRECAUCIÓN: No mire hacia la luz ni mire

directamente a la fuente de luz.

Jale el gatillo interruptor para encender la lámpara

delantera. La lámpara delantera continúa iluminándose

mientrasseestájalandoelgatillointerruptor.Lalám-

para delantera se apaga aproximadamente 10 segun-

dos tras haber liberado el gatillo interruptor.

Modo de iluminación

Mantenga presionado el botón para activar el modo

de iluminación.

En el modo de iluminación, la lámpara delantera per-

manece encendida durante 1 hora.

La lámpara delantera se apaga automáticamente

después de 1 hora. Para apagar la lámpara delantera

manualmente, mantenga presionado el botón

NOTA: Cuando la herramienta se sobrecaliente, esta

se detendrá automáticamente y la lámpara delantera

comenzará a destellar. En este caso, suelte el gatillo

interruptor. La lámpara delantera se apagará en un

minuto.

NOTA: Use un paño seco para limpiar la suciedad de

la lente de la lámpara delantera. Tenga cuidado de

no rayar la lente de la lámpara delantera, ya que la

iluminación podría disminuir.

NOTA: La lámpara delantera es más brillante en el

modo de iluminación que durante el funcionamiento

normal.

Accionamiento del conmutador de

inversión de giro

PRECAUCIÓN: Verique siempre la dirección

de la rotación antes de la operación.

PRECAUCIÓN: Utilice el interruptor de

reversión de rotación solamente después de

que la herramienta haya parado completamente.

El cambiar la dirección de rotación antes de que la

herramienta se detenga podría causar daños a la

herramienta.

PRECAUCIÓN: Cuando no esté utilizando la

herramienta, ponga siempre la palanca del inte-

rruptor de inversión en la posición neutral.

Esta herramienta cuenta con un interruptor de inversión

para cambiar la dirección de la rotación. Presione la

palanca del interruptor de inversión desde el lado A

para una rotación en el sentido de las manecillas del

relojodesdeelladoB,paraunarotaciónensentido

inversoaldelasmanecillasdelreloj.

Cuando la palanca del interruptor de inversión esté en la

posiciónneutral,nosepodrájalarelgatillointerruptor.

Cambio de velocidad

PRECAUCIÓN: Coloque siempre la palanca

de cambio de velocidad exactamente en la

posición correcta. Si opera la herramienta con la

palanca de cambio de velocidad posicionada entre

"1" y "2" o "2" y "3", la herramienta podría dañarse.

PRECAUCIÓN: No utilice la palanca de cam-

bio de velocidad mientras la herramienta está en

marcha. La herramienta puede dañarse.

Esta herramienta tiene una palanca de cambio de

velocidad. Para cambiar la velocidad, primero apague

la herramienta y luego deslice la palanca de cambio

develocidadalaposición"1"paravelocidadbaja,la

posición "2" para velocidad media o la posición "3" para

velocidad alta. Asegúrese de que la palanca de cambio

develocidadseaajustadaenlaposicióncorrectaantes

de iniciar la operación. Seleccione la velocidad ade-

cuada para su aplicación.

Funcionamiento electrónico

La herramienta está equipada con funciones electróni-

cas para facilitar la operación.

•

Tecnología de detección de retroalimentación activa

Si la herramienta gira a la aceleración predetermi-

nada durante la operación, el motor será detenido

forzadamente para reducir la carga en la muñeca.

AVISO:Sujetermementelaherramientadurante

la operación.

AVISO: Si se produce una avería con la función

electrónica, la luz parpadeará durante 3 segundos y

luego se apagará. En ese caso, póngase en contacto

con un centro de servicio autorizado o de fábrica

Makita para que se lo repare.

NOTA: Esta función no servirá si la aceleración no

alcanza la predeterminada al girar la herramienta.

NOTA: Si la herramienta se detiene de golpe, suelte

elgatillointerruptoryluegojaleelgatillointerruptor

Instalación de la empuñadura lateral

Utilice siempre la empuñadura lateral para garantizar

una operación segura.

Coloque la empuñadura lateral de modo que las protu-

berancias de la base de la empuñadura y la banda de

mienta. Luego, apriete la empuñadura girándola en el

Instalación del gancho

ADVERTENCIA:

Utilice las piezas para col-

gado/montado solo para los nes previstos; por

ejemplo, colgar la herramienta en un cinturón de

herramientas entre trabajos o intervalos de trabajo.

Uso del oricio

ADVERTENCIA: Nunca utilice el oricio para

colgado para un propósito distinto al previsto;

por ejemplo, para atar la herramienta en un lugar

alto.Lacargadeesfuerzoenunoriciomuycargado

podríacausarundañoaloricio,loquepodríaresul-

tar en lesiones para usted o para las personas que se

encuentranasualrededorodebajodeusted.

Utiliceeloricioparacolgadoenlaparteinferiortrasera

de la herramienta para colgar la herramienta en una

pared, con un cordón para colgar o cuerdas similares.

Instalación del portabrocas

Accesorio opcional

Coloque el portabrocas en la protuberancia en la base

de la herramienta o ya sea del lado derecho o izquierdo

y asegúrelo con un tornillo.

Cuando no utilice la punta de destornillador, mantén-

gala dentro del portabrocas. Las puntas de destornilla-

dor de 45 mm de largo (1-3/4") se pueden guardar ahí.

OPERACIÓN

PRECAUCIÓN: Apague la herramienta inme-

diatamente si esta no funciona correctamente,

si ingresan materias extrañas en ella o si se

escuchan ruidos anormales. Comuníquese con el

centro de servicio Makita o con su distribuidor local

para realizar el mantenimiento o reparación de la

herramienta.

Operación de atornillado

AVISO: Coloque el selector en el nivel de torsión

apropiadoparasutrabajo.

AVISO: Asegúrese de que la punta de destornillador

se inserte exactamente en la cabeza del tornillo, de

lo contrario el tornillo y/o la punta de destornillador

pueden dañarse.

En primer lugar, gire el anillo de cambio de modo de

accionamientodeformaquelaechaquehayenel

cuerpo de la herramienta apunte a la marca y

ajusteelniveldetorsión.

Coloque la punta de la punta de destornillador sobre la

cabeza del tornillo y aplique presión en la herramienta.

Haga funcionar la herramienta lentamente y después

aumente la velocidad gradualmente. Suelte el gatillo

interruptor tan pronto la herramienta detenga la rotación

automáticamente y la luz verde se enciende durante 5

segundos.

NOTA: Cuando atornille un tornillo para madera, tala-

dreprimerounoriciode2/3deldiámetrodeltornillo.

Esto facilitará el atornillado y evitará que la pieza de

trabajoserompa.

NOTA: En un ambiente frío, la herramienta podrá

detenerseenunniveldetorsiónmásbajo,depen-

diendo de las circunstancias.

Operación de taladrado con

percusión

PRECAUCIÓN: En el momento de comenzar

a penetrar, cuando se atasca el agujero con viru-

tas y partículas, o cuando se topa contra varillas

de refuerzo de hormigón armado, se ejerce una

tremenda y repentina fuerza de torsión sobre la

herramienta/broca.

En primer lugar, gire el anillo de cambio de modo de

accionamientodeformaquelaechaquehayenel

cuerpo de la herramienta apunte a la marca.

Asegúrese de utilizar una broca con punta de carburo

de tungsteno.

Coloquelabrocadondedeseehacerelagujero,des-

puésjaleelgatillointerruptor.Nofuercelaherramienta.

Losmejoresresultadosseobtienenconunaligera

presión. Mantenga la herramienta en posición y evite

quesedesliceysesalgadelagujero.

Noapliquemáspresióncuandoelagujeroseatore

con virutas y partículas. En su lugar, haga funcionar la

herramienta sin presión, después saque parcialmente

labrocadelagujero.Repitiendoestovariasveces,se

limpiaráelagujeroysepodráreanudareltaladrado

normal.

Operación de taladrado

Taladrado en madera

Cuandotaladreenmadera,podráobtenermejores

resultados si utiliza brocas para madera equipadas

con un tornillo guía. El tornillo guía facilita el taladrado

jalandolabrocadetaladrohaciaelinteriordelapieza

detrabajo.

Taladrado en metal

Para evitar que la broca de taladro resbale una vez que

comienceahacereloricio,hagaunsurcoconpunzón

y un martillo en el punto a taladrar. Coloque la punta

de la broca de taladro en el surco y comience a taladrar.

Al perforar metales, utilice un lubricante de corte. El

hierro y el latón deben perforarse en seco, con sus

excepciones.

PRECAUCIÓN: Ejercer una presión excesiva

sobre la herramienta no hará que consiga taladrar

más rápido. De hecho, una presión excesiva sólo

logrará dañar la punta de la broca de taladro, reducir

el desempeño y acortar la vida útil de la herramienta.

PRECAUCIÓN: Sujete rmemente la herra-

mienta y tenga cuidado cuando la broca de tala-

dro comience a penetrar en la pieza de trabajo. La

fuerzaejercidaenlaherramienta/brocadetaladroal

momento de la penetración es enorme.

PRECAUCIÓN: Para extraer una broca de

taladro atorada, basta simplemente con ajustar el

interruptor de inversión en rotación inversa para

hacerla retroceder. Sin embargo, la herramienta

puede retroceder bruscamente si no la sujeta con

rmeza.

PRECAUCIÓN: Asegure siempre las piezas

de trabajo con un tornillo de banco o dispositivo

de sujeción similar.

PRECAUCIÓN: Si utiliza la herramienta de

forma continua hasta que el cartucho de batería

se descargue, deje descansar la herramienta

durante 15 minutos antes de proceder con una

batería llena.

MANTENIMIENTO

PRECAUCIÓN: Asegúrese siempre de que la

herramienta esté apagada y el cartucho de batería

extraído antes de intentar realizar una inspección

o mantenimiento.

AVISO: Nunca use gasolina, bencina, diluyente

(tíner), alcohol o sustancias similares. Puede que

esto ocasione grietas o descoloramiento.
