GENERAL
WARNING
• This product comes with a region approved power supply cord and is
designed to be plugged into a standard household AC power outlet only.
Do not use any other power supply cord or power strip. For replacement
cords, please contact Customer Care to ensure proper selection of
country specic power supply cord.
• Do not disassemble or open this product other than instructed in
the Owner’s Guide. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer
servicing to qualied service personnel.

in the area that the robot is operating in to avoid stepping on it or

object could be pulled o a table or shelf. Before using this device, pick
up objects like clothing, loose papers, pull cords for blinds or curtains,

AUTOEMPTY DOCK
WARNING
• Do not use if the cord or plug is damaged. If appliance is not working as
it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into
water, return it to a service centre.
• Always disconnect your robot from the dock before cleaning
or maintaining it.
• Do not use the dock as a step.
• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening
blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce
air ow.
• To properly maintain your dock, do not place foreign objects inside and
ensure that it is clear of debris.
• In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal
cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external
switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is
regularly switched on and o by the utility.
• Do not allow liquids to get on or into the dock.
• Do not pour any liquids into the device and do not immerse in water.
• Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used
by or near children.
• Use only as described in this manual.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug your dock before cleaning.
• Keep the dock and power cord away from heated surfaces.

• Product may not be used with any type of power converter. Use of power
converters will immediately void the warranty.
• If you live in an area prone to electrical storms, it is recommended that
you use additional surge protection. Your dock may be protected with a
surge protector in the event of severe electrical storms.

BATTERY
WARNING
• Do not open, crush, heat above 176°F: 80°C, or incinerate. Follow the
Owner’s Guide instructions for proper use, maintenance, handling,
and disposal.
• Do not short-circuit the battery by allowing metal objects to contact
battery terminals or immerse in liquid. Do not subject batteries to
mechanical shock.
• Lithium ion batteries and products that contain lithium ion batteries are
subject to stringent transportation regulations. If you need to ship this
product (with the battery included) for service, travel or any other reason,

you must see the Troubleshooting section of your manual or contact
customer care for shipping instructions.
• Periodically inspect the battery pack for any sign of damage or leakage.
Do not charge damaged or leaking battery packs, do not allow the
liquid to come in contact with skin or eyes. If contact has been made,
wash the aected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical
advice. Place the battery in a sealed plastic bag and recycle or dispose
of safely according to local environmental regulations, or return it to your
local authorized iRobot Service Center for disposal.
CAUTION
• Battery usage by children should be supervised. Seek medical advice
immediately if a cell or a battery has been swallowed.

• The battery pack must be removed from the robot before recycling
or disposal.
• For best results, only use the iRobot Lithium Ion Battery that comes with
the robot.
• Do not use non-rechargeable batteries. Use only the rechargeable
battery supplied with the product. For replacement, purchase identical
iRobot battery or contact iRobot Customer Care for alternative
battery options.
• Always charge and remove the battery from your robot and accessories
before long-term storage.
This symbol on the battery indicates that the battery must not be disposed
of with unsorted common municipal waste. As the end-user, it is your
responsibility to dispose of the end-of-life battery in your appliance in an
environmentally sensitive manner as follows:
(1) returning it to the distributor/dealer from whom you purchased the

Getting started

NOTE: Position your dock on hard surface ooring.Do not place it in
direct sunlight. Ensure the area around the dock is free of clutter to
improve docking performance.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of your robot falling down stairs, ensure
that your dock is placed at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) away from stairs.
2 Plug in the dock
Plug the power cord into the dock, then into the wall. Wrap the cord back so it
won’t get in the way of the robot as it comes and goes.

3 Wake up the robot
Place your robot on the AutoEmpty dock by lining up the metal charging contacts.
After a few minutes, a sound will let you know it’s awake.
NOTE: Your robot comes with a partial charge, but we recommend
that you charge the robot for 3 hours prior to starting the rst
cleaning job.
If the light ring is swirling white, the robot is not ready and is
still waking up.

Charging
Light Ring: Charging in progress

Charging during a cleaning job
You robot will return to the AutoEmpty dock whenever it needs to recharge.
Once the robot is suciently charged, it will then resume the cleaning job where
it left o.
Standby mode
The robot uses a small amount of power whenever it is on the dock. You can put
the robot in a further-reduced power state when not in use. For instructions and
more details on this Reduced Power Standby Mode, refer to the FAQ page on
our website.
Storing your robot
For long-term storage, turn o the robot by removing it from the dock and holding
down the clean button for 3 seconds with one wheel o the ground. Store the
robot in a cool, dry place.

Cleaning pattern
Once your robot creates a map of your home, it will automatically explore and
clean in neat rows, avoiding obstacles by using its front-facing camera.
IMPORTANT: The robot is unable to navigate in complete darkness.
Turn on lights or open blinds to help the robot navigate.
You robot will return to the dock at the end of a cleaning job and whenever it
needs to empty the bin or recharge. Once complete, it will resume the cleaning
job where it left o.
Your robot is able to recognize and avoid objects. However, it is still
recommended to remove excess obstacles before cleaning.
After 90 minutes of inactivity o the dock, the robot will automatically end its
cleaning job. If you are unsure if the robot is nished or paused, visit the iRobot
Home App to check on its status.
Dirt Detect™
When your robot detects an especially dirty area, it will engage Dirt Detect™
mode, moving in a forward/backward motion to clean the area more thoroughly.
The light ring indicator will ash blue when Dirt Detect™ mode is engaged.
Vacuuming

Place on the oor and press the clean button on the robot.
Vacuuming and mopping
Your robot is able to both vacuum and mop at the same time when the Combo™
bin is installed.
IMPORTANT: Do not ip the robot over with the Combo Bin installed.
The product starts wicking as soon as water is put into the tank
After completing your mopping and vacuum cleaning job, make sure
to empty the robot bin water tank and replace the mopping pad.
Only certain cleaning solutions can be safely used with your robot.
A full list of compatible cleaning solutions can be found on http://
answers.irobot.com/s/roomba-combo-cleanser or by visiting
the app. Please do not use other cleaning solutions or bleach-
based products.
Starting a vacuum and mop cleaning job from your robot

Install the mopping pad. Slide the pad down over the track. Press the pad to
the plate to attach.

Fill the Combo™ bin with water. You may also use a compatible
cleaning solution.

Remove the Dust Bin from the robot, and install the Combo™bin.
NOTE: If you start a cleaning job from o the dock, the robot will still
end its job on the dock. If it can’t nd its dock, it will end wherever it
started in your home.

Emptying the bin
Emptying the bin from your robot
When your robot senses that its bin needs to be emptied, the light ring indicator
will illuminate in a red sweeping motion toward the rear.

Press bin release button to remove bin.

Open bin door to empty bin.

Place bin back in the robot.

While cleaning, your robot will automatically return to the dock to empty its bin.
Once complete, it will resume the cleaning job where it left o.
NOTE: If you place your robot on the dock by hand, it will not empty
automatically. In this case, use the iRobot Home App or hold the
clean button down for 2-5 seconds.

Washing the bin

Release the bin, remove the lter, and open
the bin door.

Rinse the dust bin and water tank using
warm water.

Make sure bin is completely dry. Reinsert lter
and place bin back in the robot.
IMPORTANT: The bin is not dishwasher
safe. Do not wash the lter. Remove the
lter before washing the bin.

Cleaning the lter

Remove the bin. Remove the lter by grasping
both ends and pulling out.

Remove debris by tapping the lter against your
trash container.
3
Reinsert lter with ridged grips facing out. Place
bin back in the robot.
NOTE: The robot will not run if the lter
is not installed correctly. Replace the
lter every two months.
Cleaning the Edge-Sweeping Brush

Use a coin or small screwdriver to remove
the screw holding the Edge-Sweeping
Brush in place.

Pull to remove the Edge-Sweeping Brush.
Remove any hair or debris, then reinstall
the brush.
Cleaning the front caster wheel
1
Pull rmly on the front wheel module to remove it
from the robot.

Pull rmly on the wheel to remove it from its
housing (see illustration below).

Remove any debris from inside the wheel cavity.

Reinstall all parts when nished. Make sure the
wheel clicks back into place.

Cleaning the Multi-Surface Brushes

Pinch the brush frame release tab, lift the tab,
and remove any obstructions.

Remove the brushes from the robot. Remove the
brush caps from the ends of the brushes. Remove
any hair or debris that has collected beneath the
caps. Reinstall the brush caps.

Remove any hair or debris from the square
and hexagonal pegs on the opposite side of
the brushes.
4
Remove the bin from the robot and clear any
debris from the vacuum path.
5
Reinstall the brushes in the robot. Match the
shape of the brush pegs with the shape of the
brush icons in the cleaning head module.

Replacing the bag

Lift up on the canister lid to open.

Pull up on the card to remove the bag from the
canister. Discard the used bag.
3
Install a new bag, sliding the plastic card into
the guide rails. This will seal the bag so dust and
debris cannot escape.

Press down on the lid making sure that it is
completely closed.
IMPORTANT: To achieve optimal
performance with your robot and dock,
clean and/or replace your robot’s
lter as needed.
Removing Debris from Blower Cover
Inspect blower cover for any lint or debris build-up,
and wipe with a clean dry cloth to remove.

Troubleshooting your robot
Your robot will tell you something is wrong by playing an audio alert and turning
the light ring indicator red. Press the clean button for details. Check the iRobot
Home App for further support.

Troubleshooting your dock
Your AutoEmpty dock will tell you if something is wrong via an LED indicator on
the front of the canister and through the iRobot Home App. If the dock is not
performing as expected, check the iRobot Home app for errors.

against damage due to overheating. If the protector operates, the motor will
stop running. If this happens, unplug the unit, allow it to cool for 30 minutes, clear
any obstructions from the evacuation port and evacuation tube, then plug the
unit back in.
