IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. DO NOT touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electrical hazards, DO NOT immerse cord, plugs,
or the appliance in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or
near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to
cool before putting on or taking o parts, and before cleaning the
appliance.
7. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or
after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any
manner. Return appliance to the manufacturer for examination,
repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. All servicing, other
than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service
representative. See Warranty section.
8. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by Salton
may cause hazards.
9. DO NOT use outdoors.
10. DO NOT let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot
surfaces.
11. DO NOT place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated
oven.
12. Always attach plug to appliance rst, then plug cord into the wall
outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to ‘OFF’, then remove plug
from wall outlet.
13. Only use the Kettle with the base provided.
14. DO NOT use appliance for other than intended use.
15. DO NOT leave unit unattended while in use.
16. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance
containing hot liquids.

17. DO NOT use the Kettle without the Lid in place.
18. Scalding may occur if the Lid is opened while the Kettle is hot or in use.
19. Direct kettle spout away from cabinets, walls, etc. to prevent
possible steam damage.
20. DO NOT use the Kettle if water is below the 0.7 L (MIN) or above
1.7 L (MAX) marking.
21. DO NOT attempt to remove any housing parts or insert foreign
objects into the kettle.
22. It is recommended that the power cord be disconnected from the
wall outlet when not in use.
23. DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base
or tamper with the connector in any way.

IMPORTANT – HIGH ALTITUDE LOCATIONS
Water boils at lower temperatures at high altitudes. For every 152
meters (500 feet) above sea level, the boiling point of water will be
0.5°C (1°F) lower than the boiling point of 100°C (212°F) at sea level.
This Kettle has been calibrated to automatically shut-o when water
boils for approximately 30 – 40 seconds, regardless of the requested
temperature.
The temperature settings below the boil temperature of 100°C (212°F)
will not be aected by high altitude.
GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug
(2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not t fully into the electrical outlet
contact a qualied electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use
an adaptor.

BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
2. Remove all packaging.
3. Press the Lid Opening Button and ll the Kettle with 1 L (4 cups) of
cold tap water and bring to a boil.
4. Once boiled, open the Lid and add 500 mL (2 cups) of white vinegar
and let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight. Discard.
5. Fill the kettle to the maximum ll line with cold tap water. Bring to a
boil and discard. Repeat.
6. The kettle is now ready to use.
HOW TO USE
1. Press the Lid Opening Button and ll the Kettle through the lid
opening with water between the MIN and MAX markings.
IMPORTANT:
- Never plug the Kettle into an electrical outlet when the Kettle is
empty.
- DO NOT attempt to ll the Kettle while it is plugged into the wall
outlet.

- DO NOT use for other liquids besides water. Other liquids will
contaminate the interior of the kettle.
- DO NOT ll past the MAX level printed on the water level window
of the Kettle. Overlling may cause water to spit out when boiling.
2. Close the Lid. Ensure that it snaps into place.
3. Place Kettle and Base on a at, level, dry, heat resistant surface.
Ensure that it is correctly engaged on the Base. Direct kettle spout
away from cabinets, wall, etc. to prevent steam damage.
4. Plug into a 120V AC wall outlet. The display will show the actual
water temperature and is now in standby mode. NOTE: If no
selection has been made in 3 minutes, the display will shut o and
the Kettle will enter Sleep Mode. Press any button on the control
panel to “Wake up” the Kettle.
5. Follow the instructions below to either boil water or set the variable
temperature setting.
Choosing Celsius or Fahrenheit:
The default temperatures are in Celsius. To switch to Fahrenheit, press
and hold the On/O Button for 3 seconds and the Kettle will switch
between °C and °F temperatures.
To Use the Boil Setting:
1. Fill the kettle with water (see instruction above).
2. Tap the On/O Button. The Heating/In Use Indicator will come on to
indicate that it is in the heating cycle.
3. Temperature Display will increase until it reaches 100°C or 212°F.
4. When the water has boiled, the Kettle will beep 3 times and shut o.
To Use the Variable Temperature Settings:
1. Fill the kettle with water (see instruction above).
2. Tap the + and – Temperature Selection Buttons to chose desired
temperature. The Display will show the temperatures starting from
40°C to 90°C in 10°C increments. Then in 5°C increments between
90°C to 100°C.
5. Once desired temperature is chosen, tap the On/O Button. The
Heating/In Use Indicator will come on to indicate that the Kettle is in
the heating cycle.
6. Temperature Display will increase until it reaches the selected
setting.
7. When the water has reached selected setting, the Kettle will beep 3
times and shut o.

Setting the Keep Warm Function:
The Keep Warm setting can be used between 40°C to 90°C (104°F to
194°F).
1. Fill the kettle with water (see instruction above).
2. Tap the Keep Warm Button, then tap the + and – Temperature
Selection Buttons to chose desired temperature.
3. Tap the Keep Warm Button again. The Keep Warm Indicator and
the Heating/In Use indicator will come on to indicate Kettle is in the
heating cycle and Keep Warm has been activated.
4. When the water has reached selected setting, the Kettle will beep
3 times and shut o. The Keep Warm Indicator will remain on in the
Display.
While the Keep Warm is activated, the Kettle will cycle on and o for
2 hours to maintain the selected temperature. The Kettle cannot be
removed from the base or the Keep Warm function will be cancelled,
and the display will show the current water temperature in the Kettle.
The Keep Warm function can be deactivated at any time by pressing the
Keep Warm Button. The Keep Warm Indicator will disappear from the
Display once deactivated.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- If the Kettle is removed from the base before the boiling cycle is
complete the heating cycle will be cancelled.
- To turn the Kettle o before the boiling cycle is complete, tap the
On/O Button.
- The Lid should not be opened while the Kettle is hot or while the
Kettle is in use.
- If you want to use the Kettle again, allow the unit to cool down for
15-20 seconds before turning the Kettle on again.
- Only grip the Kettle by the Handle as all other surfaces will be hot.
- Return the Kettle to the Base or a heat resistant surface after use.
- IMPORTANT: If the Kettle is accidently switched on when empty,
the thermostat will automatically cycle on and o to prevent the
Kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs unplug the Kettle
immediately and allow the Kettle to cool before reusing.
- It is recommended that the power cord be disconnected from the
wall outlet when not in use.
- DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base
of tamper with the connector in any way.

WATER TEMPERATURE GUIDE
The following is a general guide for brewing dierent types of tea. Brand
and freshness of tea including each individuals taste and preference
diers.
If your tea box/container has brewing instructions, follow those as they
are probably ideal for that specic tea.

CARE AND CLEANING
1. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an
authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
2. Unplug Kettle from wall outlet. Empty the Kettle and allow it to cool
before cleaning.
Kettle Exterior
1. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasive
cleaners or immerse the Kettle or Power Base in water or other
liquid.
2. Dry exterior thoroughly before use.

Descaling
Under normal use, scale build-up will form on the inside of the kettle
and will coat the stainless steel plate. Scale, which has accumulated
inside the kettle must be removed by boiling equal parts of white vinegar
and water (500ml/ 2 cups of each is recommended). Once the water has
boiled, allow the mixture to stand several hours or overnight. Empty out
mixture and ll kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a
boil and discard.
For heavy scale build-up, use pure vinegar and let stand overnight.
Empty out vinegar and ll kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring
water to a boil and discard.
This descaling process should be repeated periodically.
NOTE: Scale build-up can be delayed by pouring out water after use
then relling the kettle when required.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming
entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used
if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked
electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If
the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a
grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that
it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled
on by children or tripped over.
This warranty does not include the cost of shipping, which is to be borne by the
customer.
LIMITED WARRANTY
**The original sales receipt is the only acceptable proof of purchase**
Salton Appliances (1985) Corp. warrants that this appliance shall be free from
defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date
of original purchase. Salton Appliances (1985) Corp. at its sole discretion during
this warranty period, will repair or replace a defective product or issue a refund.
Any refund to the purchaser will be at a pro-rated value based on the remaining
period of the warranty. All liability is limited to the amount of the purchase price.
This warranty covers normal domestic usage and does not cover damage which
occurs in shipment or failure which results from alteration, accident, misuse,
abuse, glass breakage, neglect, improper maintenance, use contrary to the
operating instructions or commercial use. This warranty is not available to
retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners.
