1. SAFETY
9 Familiarise yourself with the applications, limitations and hazards of the crushing unit.
9 Maintain the unit in good condition (use an authorised service agent).
9 Replace or repair damaged parts. Use recommended parts only. Unauthorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the
warranty.
9 Keep the crushing unit clean for best and safest performance.
9 Locate the crushing unit in an suitable working area. Keep the area clean, tidy and free from unrelated materials, and ensure there is
adequate lighting.
WARNING! Always wear approved eye or face protection when operating the crushing unit.
9 Removeillttingclothing.Removeties,watches,rings,andotherloosejewellery,andcontainlonghair.
9 Keep hands and body clear of the work table when operating the press.
9 Maintaincorrectbalanceandfooting.Ensuretheoorisnotslipperyandwearnon-slipshoes.
9 Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.
8 DO NOToperatethecrushingunitifanypartsaremissingasthismaycausefailureand/orpossiblepersonalinjury.
8 DO NOT use the crushing unit for a task it is not designed to perform.
8 DO NOToperatethecrushingunitwhenyouaretiredorundertheinuenceofalcohol,drugsorintoxicatingmedication.
9 When not in use release pressure from the pump and clean the crushing unit.
WARNING! Fully support the crushing unit across the full width of its base, i.e. utilising V plates or similar.
2. INTRODUCTION
Usedinconjunctionwithapress,thisunitcrushesltersuptoØ115mmandremovesmostoftheoilandsludge,whichdrainsintoasuitable
container(notincluded).Crushingltersminimizesthecostofdisposalofhazardouswastebyvolume.Suppliedwithramextensiontoallow
2-stagecrushingoflargelterswithoutrepositioningpresstable.SuitableforØ38mm(1.5”)pressrams.Optionaladaptorsenableusewith
Ø50mmandØ60mmrams.

4. OPERATION
▲ DANGER!Forsafetyreasons,alwaysensurethatthecrusherunitandthepresstoolsaresecuredonthetableandwillnotexor
suddenly give way causing danger to the operator or
damagetothecrusherunit.EnsureyouhavereadthesafetyinstructionsatSection1.
NOTE: Oilltersshouldbedrainedbeforebeingcrushed.
4.1. OFC1
4.1.1. When placing the crushing unit onto a press, ensure that the unit is fully supported across the full
width of it’s base, i.e. utilising V plates or similar (see Fig.4 overleaf).
4.1.2. Connectoneendofthedrainhosetotheltercrushingunitandplacetheotherendinasuitable
oil disposal container.
4.1.3. Placethedisusedlter,shownatFig.2,inthecrushingunit,mountingfacedown.Thehatchis
spring-loadedandsowillcloseautomaticallyonrelease.
4.1.4. Check that the press hydraulic unit is fully closed ready for use.

4.1.5. Positiontheltercrushingunitattherequiredoperatingheightbyinsertingthesupport
pins into the appropriate holes in the press main frame.
4.1.6. Attachthecrushingplate,shownatFig.3,totheramandplacethecrushingunitandlter
beneaththeplate.RefertoFig.5overleaf.
4.1.7. Slowlyoperatethepumpuntiltheplateiscloseto,orjusttouching,thelter.Checkthe
alignment of the crushing unit with the plate.
4.1.8. Applyincreasingpressureuntilthelteriscrushed,asshowninFig.6.Notethatthe
crushingunitissuppliedwitharamextension.Ifthepressramtravelisinsucientto
completelycrushthelter,theramcanberetracted,theextensioninsertedbetweenram
and crushing plate and crushing completed without repositioning the press table.
4.1.9. DO NOTexceedthestrokerateindicatedonthepress,ortheredlinemarkedonthepiston
gauge.
4.1.10. On the completion of work, release the press pressure, the piston and the crushing plate
head will retract automatically.
4.1.11. Ensurethatthecrushedltersandresidualoilandsludgearedisposedofaccording to
local regulations.
4.2. OIL CRUSHER UNIT ADAPTORS
4.2.1. TheadaptorsOFCA50andOFCA60,shownatFig.1,enableOilFilterCrusherOFC1tobeusedwithawiderangeofbenchand
oorpresses.
NOTE: ALWAYS keep the press piston retracted after use to avoid corrosion.
