Infrared Sensor Tips
• Make sure the target to measure is larger than the red dot from the IR
sensor. Ideally, the target should be double the size of the red dot or
bigger.
• As the distance from the target increases, the area measured by the sensor
will be larger. The smaller the target, the closer you should be.
• The Infrared Sensor cannot measure through transparent surfaces. You will
see the temperature of the transparent surface instead.
• Not recommended for shiny or polished surfaces.
• Steam, dust, smoke, etc., can obstruct the unit’s optics.
Safety
• Do not point the IR Laser at a human or animal’s eyes.
• Avoid pointing the IR laser at a shiny or polished surface that can reflect the
laser into an eye.
• Do not allow the IR laser beam to impinge on any gas or area which can
explode.
• Avoid pointing the Probe Sensor at anything living.
• This is a fast-read thermometer; do not put it in the oven with your food.
Note: The thermometer will shut o automatically when the temperature
is reading less than 122°F (50°C) and no buttons have been pressed for 2
minutes.
