Gourmet Oil Popper
This is a Listed appliance. The following important safeguards are recommended by most portable appliance manufacturers.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage when using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed, including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. A popper that is plugged into an outlet and turned on should not be left unattended.
3. Popper cover/serving bowl must be in place before turning unit on.
4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
5. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plug, or popper base in water or other liquids.
6. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
7. This popper will not shut off automatically. To avoid overheating, add corn and oil before operating.
8. Extreme caution must be used when unloading popcorn. Always turn the unit over a countertop so that residual hot oil or water
running out will not cause burns.
9. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning
the appliance.
10. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or in the event the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged
in any manner. Return the appliance to the Presto Factory Service Department for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical
adjustment.
11. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause re, electric shock, or injury.
Use only genuine Presto
®
accessory attachments and replacement parts.
12. Do not use outdoors.
13. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
14. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
15. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquid.
16. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

Important Cord Information
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to
t into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a
qualied electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord
may be used if care is properly exercised in its use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over
the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
Connect the power supply cord to a 120VAC electrical outlet only.
Before First Use
Become familiar with the popper parts (Fig. A)
and read the
following instructions carefully.
The popper is shipped with the base nested in the popper cover/
serving bowl. Invert the unit so the cover vents are facing up (Fig. A)
and lift the cover off the base.
Wipe the nonstick popping surface with a damp cloth.
CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock and damage to the popper
base, never immerse the popper base in water or other liquid.
Wash the popper cover/serving bowl and serving bowl lid in
warm, soapy water; rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not wash in the
dishwasher.
How to Use
1. Unwrap the power cord from the popper base. Plug the unit into
a 120VAC electrical outlet. Do not turn the unit on until step 6 as
preheating the popper is not necessary.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the popper base. You may use most
any kind of vegetable oil for popping (canola, corn, olive, peanut,
soybean). Do not use butter, margarine, shortening, or lard, as these
burn easily.
3. Pour cup popping corn over the oil. This popper is designed to
pop cup popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. Using more
than cup may result in an increase in unpopped kernels.
If a smaller quantity is desired, you can pop as little as 3 tablespoons of popping corn with 1 tablespoon of oil.
4. Place the cover/serving bowl over the popper base so the clear cover handles align with the base handles.
5. Remove the serving bowl lid to allow steam to vent during popping.
NOTICE: Failure to remove the lid will result in chewy popcorn and may result in melting of the lid and the cover vents.
6. Press the “l” on the power switch to turn the unit on (Fig. A). The indicator light will glow whenever the unit is turned on.
Popping will begin in 2 to 3 minutes. Once popping starts, it will be completed in 4 to 5 minutes, depending on the amount of
popcorn used. Never leave popper unattended while in use.
CAUTION! To prevent burns, stand back from the unit during popping. Occasionally, hot oil may spatter from the cover vents.
NOTICE: During the rst use, a slight odor may be noticeable as manufacturing residue evaporates. This is normal.
7. When popping slows (about 3 seconds between pops), press the “O” on the power switch to turn the unit off. Then, snap the lid
onto the cover/serving bowl.
8. Hold the clear cover handles and popper base handles together and carefully ip the unit over away from your body to avoid
escaping steam. Grasp the base under the built-in cord wrap (Fig. A) and lift it off the cover/serving bowl.
CAUTION! Do not touch the nonstick popping surface as it will be hot.
9. Add salt/seasoning/melted butter to the popcorn, as desired, and mix. By design, the popped corn will not totally ll the bowl.
The space between the top of the popped corn and the bowl allows for neat and easy mixing.
NOTICE: If using spray butter, transfer the popcorn to another bowl before applying the spray butter. Spray butter may damage
the cover/serving bowl.
10. Before making additional batches, carefully wipe away excess oil from the popper cover and popping surface. Then, repeat steps
1 through 9.

How to Clean
1. Unplug the popper and allow it to cool before cleaning.
2. Wash the cover/serving bowl and lid in warm, soapy water; rinse, and dry thoroughly. Do not wash in the dishwasher. Do not
use steel wool or abrasive cleaners on the cover or popper base.
3. Wipe the nonstick popping surface/popper base with a damp cloth. Occasionally, clean the bottom of the rubber feet with a damp
cloth to remove any dust or debris. To prevent damage to the unit, never immerse the popper base in water or any other
liquid.
Over time, a sticky residue may develop on the nonstick popping surface. To clean this, make a paste of one teaspoon baking soda
and one teaspoon water. Rub this paste over the
residue using a nylon mesh pad or damp cloth. Wipe off the residue with a clean
damp cloth.
4. Wrap the cord around the bottom of the base (Fig. A, page 2) and place the base inside the cover/serving bowl for compact
storage (Fig. B, page 2).
Helpful Hints
This popper is designed to pop regular and premium brands of popcorn. Try different brands to nd the one you like best. Yellow
popcorn generally pops into larger kernels than white and may produce a larger volume. Some varieties of popcorn will ll the bowl
more than others.
Always use fresh popcorn for the best popping performance. Store popcorn in a tightly sealed container. Do not store popcorn in a
refrigerator or freezer as this can dry out the kernels quickly.
If your popcorn does not pop well, it may be too dry. Try adding a little bit of water to the popping corn. Add 1 tablespoon per quart
of popcorn. Then, place the corn in an airtight container and shake at frequent intervals until the popcorn has absorbed the water.
Wait for 3 or 4 days and then try popping the corn.
