equipment, including fuel/electrical handling
and safety.
Do NOT operate the equipment in
flammable or explosive environments, such
as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust. The equipment may create
sparks or heat that may ignite flammable
substances.
Keep clear of moving parts.
Equipment may be a potential source of
electric shock or injury if misused.
Do NOT operate the equipment if it is
damaged, malfunctioning or is in an
excessively worn state.
Do NOT allow others to use the equipment
unless they have read this manual and are
adequately trained.
Keep packaging away from children - risk
of suffocation! Operators must use the
equipment correctly. When using the
equipment, consider conditions and pay
due care to persons and property.
General Work Area Safety
Work areas should be clean and well it.
Do not operate the equipment if
bystanders, animals etc are within
operating range of the equipment or the
general work area.
If devices are provided for connecting dust
extraction / collection facilities, ensure
these are connected and used properly.
Dust collection can reduce dust-related
hazards.
General Personal Safety
Wear appropriate protective equipment
when operating, servicing, or when in the
operating area of the equipment to help
protect from eye and ear injury, poisoning,
burns, cutting and crush injuries. Protective
equipment such as safety goggles,
respirators, non-slip safety footwear, hard
hat, hearing protection etc should be used
for appropriate equipment / conditions.
Other people nearby should also wear
appropriate personal protective equipment.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery,
which can be caught in moving parts. Keep
hair and clothing away from the equipment.
Stay alert and use common sense when
operating the equipment. Do not over-
reach. Always maintain secure footing and
balance.
Do not use the equipment if tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication.
This equipment is not intended for use by
persons with reduced physical, sensory, or
mental capabilities.
General Fuel Safety
Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable
– keep clear of naked flames or other
ignition sources.
Do not spill fuel. If you spill fuel, wipe it off
the equipment immediately – if fuel gets on
your clothing, change clothing.
Do NOT smoke near fuel or when
refuelling.
Always shut off the engine before
refuelling.
Do NOT refuel a hot engine.
Open the fuel cap carefully to allow any
pressure build-up in the tank to release
slowly.
Always refuel in well ventilated areas.
Always check for fuel leakage. If fuel
leakage is found, do not start, or run the
engine until all leaks are fixed.
General Carbon-Monoxide Safety
Using a combustion engine indoors CAN
KILL IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust
contains carbon-monoxide – a poison you
cannot smell or see.
Use combustion engines OUTSIDE only,
and far away from windows, doors, and
vents.
General Equipment Use and Care
The equipment is designed for domestic
use only.
Handle the equipment safely and carefully.
Before use, inspect the equipment for
misalignment or binding of moving parts,
loose components, damage, or any other
condition that may affect its operation. If
damaged, have the equipment repaired by
an authorised service centre or technician
before use.
Prevent unintentional starting of the
equipment - ensure equipment and power
switches are in the OFF position before
connecting or moving equipment. Do not
carry equipment with hands or fingers
touching any controls. Remove any tools or
other items that are not a part of the
equipment from it before starting or
switching on.
Do not force the equipment. Use the
correct equipment for your application.
Equipment will perform better and be safer
when used within its design and usage
parameters.
Use the equipment and accessories etc. in
accordance with these instructions,
considering working conditions and the
work to be performed. Using the equipment
for operations different from those intended
could result in hazardous situations.
Always keep equipment components
(engines, hoses, handles, controls, frames,
housings, guards etc) and accessories
(cutting tools, nozzles, bits etc) properly
maintained. Keep the equipment clean and,
where applicable, properly lubricated.
Store the equipment out of reach of
children or untrained persons. To avoid
burns or fire hazards, let the equipment
cool completely before transporting or
storing. Never place or store the equipment
near flammable materials, combustible
gases, or liquids etc.
The equipment is not weather-proof, and
should not be stored in direct sunlight, at
high ambient temperatures or locations that
are damp or humid.
Do not clean equipment with solvents,
flammable liquids, or harsh abrasives.

General Electrical Safety
Inspect electrical equipment, extension
cords, power bars, and electrical fittings for
damage or wear before each use. Repair or
replace damaged equipment immediately.
Ensure all power sources conform to
equipment voltage requirements and are
disconnected before connecting or
disconnecting equipment.
When wiring electrically powered
equipment, follow all electrical and safety
codes.
Always use a Residual Current Device
(RCD) (GFCI) / Earth Leakage Circuit
Breaker / Safety Switch when operating this
item (electrical items only).
High voltage / high current power lines may
be present. Use extreme caution to avoid
contact or interference with power lines.
Electrical shock can be fatal.
General Electrical Safety
Electrically grounded equipment must have
an approved cord and plug and be
connected to a grounded electrical outlet.
Do NOT bypass the ON/OFF switch and
operate equipment by connecting and
disconnecting the electrical cord.
Do NOT use equipment that has exposed
wiring, damaged switches, covers or
guards.
Do NOT use electrical equipment in wet
conditions or in damp locations.
Do NOT use electrical cords to lift, move or
carry equipment.
Do NOT coil or knot electrical cords, and
ensure electrical cords are not trip hazards.
General Service Information
The equipment must be serviced or
repaired at authorised service centres by
qualified personnel only.
Replacement parts must be original
equipment manufacturer (OEM) to ensure
equipment safety is maintained.
Do NOT attempt any maintenance or repair
work not described in this manual.
After use, the equipment and components
may still be hot – allow the equipment to
cool and disconnect spark plugs and/or
electrical power sources and/or batteries
from it before adjusting, changing
accessories, or performing repair or
maintenance.
Do NOT adjust while the equipment is
running.
Perform service-related activities in suitable
conditions, such as a workshop.
Replace worn, damaged or missing
warning/safety labels immediately.

Carefully inspect anything a baby or child could gain access to, including this product & packaging.
Dangers include anything of a size that could become stuck or lodged in a baby or child's airway.
Dangers include things like raw, hard fruit and vegetable pieces, large pieces of meat, bones or sausage skins, popcorn, nuts,
hard lollies and corn chips, small magnets and batteries, coins, beads, marbles and small uninflated balloons, broken toys and smaller toys,
buttons, keys, and coins. But there are also many more.
Pay particular attention to accessories, nuts, bolts, screws, washers, caps, covers, loose parts, parts that could be removed or break off, pieces
of packaging, staples, tape etc.
In the case of any doubt, secure the item of concern in an appropriate manner, or completely remove the possibility of access by a baby or child.

Never allow any person to operate a machine without adequate instruction.
Ensure all operators read, understand, and follow the operating instructions.
Serious injury may result from improper or careless use of this machine.
Mechanical Hazards
Do not operate the machine unless all protective guards are in place.
Keep hands and feet clear of rotating and moving parts as they will cause injury if contacted.
Be careful not to come in contact with the muffler when the engine is hot, since it can cause severe burns.
Ensure that the motor operation switch is in the OFF position and the spark plug ignition lead is disconnected before removing guards or making
adjustments.
Ensure both the machine and the operator are stable by setting up on level terrain and the machine will not move or fall while in operation or
unattended.
Do not leave the machine in operation while it is unattended.
Keep bystanders and animals clear of the work area.
Ensure that repairs to the motor and machine are carried out by competent personnel.
Fire and Explosion Hazards
Petrol is extremely flammable and explosive under certain conditions.
Ensure that petrol is only stored in an approved storage container.
Do not refuel the motor while it is in operation or hot.
Do not refuel the motor in the vicinity of sparks, a naked flame or a person smoking.
Do not overfill the fuel tank and avoid spilling petrol when refuelling. Spilled petrol or petrol vapour may ignite. If spillage occurs, ensure that the
area is dry before staring the motor.
Ensure that the fuel tank cap is securely fitted after refuelling.
Chemical Hazards
Do no operate or refuel a petrol motor in a confined area without adequate ventilation.
Carbon monoxide exhaust gases from internal combustion motor driven units can cause death in confined spaces.

Noise Hazards
Excessive noise can lead to temporary or permanent loss of hearing.
Additional Hazards
Slip/trip/fall is a major cause of serious injury or death.
Beware of excess hose, the flexible shaft and water left on the walking or work surface.
Do not allow waste water to accumulate under foot.
Exercise caution and ensure that the perimeter of elevated formwork or platforms is protected.
Exercise care when working in the vicinity of unprotected holes or excavations.
Engine Safety
Most accidents with engines can be prevented if you follow all instructions in this manual and on the engine. Some of the most common hazards
are discussed below, along with the best way to protect yourself and others.
Owner Responsibilities:
The engines are designed to give safe and dependable service if operated according to instructions. Read and understand this owner’s manual
before operating the engine. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.
Know how to stop the engine quickly and understand the operation of all controls. Never permit anyone to operate the engine without proper
instructions.
Do not allow children to operate the engine. Keep children and pets away from the area of operation.
Refuel With Care
Gasoline is extremely flammable, and gasoline vapor can explode. Refuel outdoors, in a well-ventilated area, with the engine stopped. Never
smoke near gasoline and keep other flames and sparks away. Always store gasoline in an approved container. If any fuel is spilled, make sure
the area is dry before starting the engine.
Hot Exhaust
The muffler becomes very hot during operation and remains hot for a while after stopping the engine. Be careful not to touch the muffler while it
is hot. Let the engine cool before storing it indoors.
To prevent fire hazards and to provide adequate ventilation for stationary equipment applications, keep the engine at least 3 feet (1 meter)
away from building walls and other equipment during operation. Do not place flammable objects close to the engine.
Carbon Monoxide Hazard
Exhaust gas contains poisonous carbon monoxide. Avoid inhalation of exhaust gas. Never run the engine in a closed garage or confined area.
Other Equipment
Review the instructions provided with the equipment powered by this engine for any additional safety precautions that should be observed in
conjunction with engine startup, shutdown, operation, or protective apparel that may be needed to operate the equipment.
Maintenance Safety
Some of the most important safety precautions are as follows: However, we cannot warn you of every conceivable hazard that can arise in
performing maintenance. Only you can decide whether or not you should perform a given task.
Failure to properly follow maintenance instructions and precautions can cause you to be seriously hurt or killed. Always follow the procedures
and precautions in the owner’s manual.
Make sure the engine is off before you begin any maintenance or repairs. This will eliminate several potential hazards:
Carbon monoxide poisoning from engine exhaust.
Be sure there is adequate ventilation whenever you operate the engine.
Burns from hot parts. Let the engine and exhaust system cool before touching.
Injury from moving parts.
Do not run the engine unless instructed to do so.
Read the instructions before you begin, and make sure you have the tools and skills required.
To reduce the possibility of fire or explosion, be careful when working around gasoline. Use only a non-flammable solvent, not gasoline, to clean
parts. Keep cigarettes, sparks, and flames away from all fuel-related parts.
Remember that your servicing dealer knows your engine best and is fully equipped to maintain and repair it.
To ensure the best quality and reliability, use only new, genuine parts or their equivalents for repair and replacement.

Checks Before Operation
Is your engine ready to go?
For your safety, and to maximize the service life of your equipment, it is very important to take a few moments
before you operate the engine to check its condition. Be sure to take care of any problem you find, or have your
servicing dealer correct it before you operate the engine.
WARNING! Improperly maintaining this engine, or failing to correct a problem before operation, could
cause a malfunction in which you could be seriously injured. Always perform a pre-operation inspection
before each operation and correct any problem.
Before beginning your pre-operation checks, be sure the engine is level, and the engine switch is in the OFF
position.
Check the General Condition of the Engine
Look around and underneath the engine for signs of oil or gasoline leaks.
Remove any excessive dirt or debris, especially around the muffler and recoil starter.
Look for signs of damage.
Check that all shields and covers are in place, and all nuts, bolts, and screws are tightened.
Check the Engine
Check the engine oil level. Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage.
The Oil Alert system (applicable engine types) will automatically stop the engine before the oil level falls
below safe limits. However, to avoid the inconvenience of an unexpected shutdown, always check the
engine oil level before startup.
Check the air filter. A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburettor, reducing engine performance.
Check the fuel level. Starting with a full tank will help to eliminate or reduce operating interruptions for
refuelling.

procedures that should be followed before engine startup.

Operation
WARNING! To reduce the risk of injury, all operators and maintenance personnel must read and
understand these instructions before operating, changing accessories, or performing maintenance on
equipment. All possible situations cannot be covered in these instructions. Care must be exercised by
everyone using, maintaining or work near this equipment.
Safe Operating Precautions
Before operating the engine for the first time, please review Safety and the chapter titled Checks Before
Operation.
WARNING! Carbon monoxide gas is toxic. Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and even kill you.
Avoid any areas or actions that expose you to carbon monoxide.
Starting the Engine
1. Move the fuel valve lever to the ON position.
2. To start a cold engine, move the choke lever to the CLOSE position. To restart a warm engine, leave the
choke lever in the OPEN position. Some engine applications use a remotely mounted choke control rather
than the engine-mounted choke lever shown here.

3. Move the throttle lever away from the SLOW position, about 1/3 of the way toward the FAST position. Some
engine applications use a remotely mounted throttle control rather than the engine-mounted throttle lever
shown here.
4. Turn the engine switch to the ON position.
5. Operate the starter. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Return the starter
grip gently.
6. If the choke lever has been moved to the CLOSE position to start the engine, gradually move it to the OPEN
position as the engine warms up.

Stopping the Engine
To stop the engine in an emergency, simply turn the engine switch to the OFF position. Under normal conditions,
use the following procedure.
1. Move the throttle lever to the SLOW position. Some engine applications use a remotely mounted throttle
control rather than the engine-mounted throttle lever shown here.
2. Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.
3. Turn the fuel valve lever to the OFF position.

Setting Engine Speed
Position the throttle lever for the desired engine speed.
Some engine applications use a remotely mounted throttle control rather than the engine-mounted throttle
lever shown here.
For engine speed recommendations, refer to the instructions provided with the equipment powered by this
engine.
Concrete Vibrator Operation
1. Before installing the flex shaft onto the petrol drive unit, turn on the ON/OFF switch mounted on the motor
below the fuel tank and start the motor.
2. Increase the speed to full throttle using the throttle lever mounted below the air cleaner and allow the engine
to warm up for a few minutes.
3. Stop the engine using the ON/OFF switch and ensure it comes to a complete stop. The coupling can now be
inserted.
4. Turn the housing locating pin 180 degrees to open the housing.
5. Push the coupling into the housing and twist the flexible shaft until the drive dogs are fully engaged and the
locating pin returns to the horizontal position.
6. The motor may now be started, and operation begin.
Note: Drive unit should be operated on a level surface. If the surface is not level the drive unit should
be restrained to ensure that it does not move due to vibration or the weight of a pump and hose or
vibrator.
7. When the operation is finished, stop the motor using the ON/OFF switch.

Maintenance
ATTENTION: Surface corrosion will occur on metal surfaces over time and the rate of oxidation
depends on factors such as proximity to the ocean and humidity or condensation of water
vapour on metal surfaces. To mitigate this, WD40 can be used to remove surface corrosion then, when
applied periodically, it will prevent rust from forming.
Concrete Vibrator Maintenance
Check the drive condition of drive dog regularly and that the 3-Tooth drive dogs are fully meshed.
Worn coupling housings and poorly operating locating pins with worn grooves in the shaft coupling will lead
to a shorter operating life and should be replaced before they have worn excessively.
Check the oil level in the petrol motor crankcase regularly.

Refuelling
With the engine stopped, remove the fuel tank cap, and check the fuel level. Refill the tank if the fuel level is low.
WARNING! Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive. You can be burned or seriously injured when
handling fuel. Stop the engine and keep heat, sparks, and flame away. Handle fuel only outdoors. Wipe
up spills immediately.
Refuel in a well-ventilated area before starting the engine. If the engine has been running, allow it to cool. Refuel
carefully to avoid spilling fuel. Do not fill above the fuel strainer shoulder. After refuelling, tighten the fuel tank
cap securely.
Never refuel the engine inside a building where gasoline fumes may reach flames or sparks. Keep gasoline
away from appliance pilot lights, barbecues, electric appliances, power tools, etc.

Spilled fuel is not only a fire hazard, but it also causes environmental damage. Wipe up spills immediately.
Fuel can damage paint and plastic. Be careful not to spill fuel when filling your fuel tank. Damage
caused by spilled fuel is not covered under warranty.
Fuel Recommendations
Use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 86 or higher.
These engines are certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Unleaded gasoline produces fewer engine and
spark plug deposits and extends exhaust system life.
Never use stale or contaminated gasoline or an oil/gasoline mixture. Avoid getting dirt or water in the fuel
tank.
Occasionally you may hear a light ‘‘spark knock’’ or ‘‘pinging’’ (metallic rapping noise) while operating under
heavy loads. This is no cause for concern.
If spark knock or pinging occurs at a steady engine speed, under normal load, change brands of gasoline. If
spark knock or pinging persists, see an authorized servicing dealer.
Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging can cause engine damage.
Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging is considered misuse, and the Distributor’s
Limited Warranty does not cover parts damaged by misuse.
Engine Oil Level Check
Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped and in a level position.
1. Remove the filler cap/dipstick and wipe it clean.
2. Insert and remove the dipstick without screwing it into the filler neck. Check the oil level shown on the
dipstick.
3. If the oil level is low, fill to the edge of the oil filler hole with the recommended oil.
4. Screw in the filler cap/dipstick securely.
NOTE: Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage.
The Oil Alert system (applicable engine types) will automatically stop the engine before the oil level falls below
safe limit. However, to avoid the inconvenience of an unexpected shutdown, always check the engine oil level
before startup.

Engine Oil Change
Drain the used oil while the engine is warm. Warm oil drains quickly and completely.
1. Place a suitable container below the engine to catch the used oil, and then remove the filler cap/dipstick and
the drain plug.
2. Allow the used oil to drain completely, and then reinstall the drain plug, and tighten it securely.
Please dispose of used motor oil in a manner that is compatible with the environment. We suggest you take
used oil in a sealed container to your local recycling centre or service station for reclamation. Do not throw it
in the trash; pour it on the ground; or down a drain.
3. With the engine in a level position, fill to the outer edge of the oil filler hole with the recommended oil.
Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage. The Oil Alert system (applicable
engine types) will automatically stop the engine before the oil level falls below the safe limit.
However, to avoid the inconvenience of an unexpected shutdown, fill to the upper limit, and check
the oil level regularly.
4. Screw in the filler cap/dipstick securely.
Reduction Gear Oil (Only on equipped models)
<1/2 reduction with automatic centrifugal clutch>
1. Remove the oil filler cap and wipe the dipstick clean.
2. Insert the dipstick into the filler neck but do not screw it in.
3. If the level is low, fill to the upper-level mark with the same oil recommended for the engine.

Servicing Your Engine - Engine Oil Recommendations
Oil is a major factor affecting performance and service life. Use 4-stroke automotive detergent oil.
SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general use. Other viscosities shown in the chart may be used when the
average temperature in your area is within the recommended range.
The SAE oil viscosity and service classification are in the API label on the oil container. We recommend that you
use API SERVICE Category SE or SF oil.
Air Filter Inspection
Remove the air cleaner cover and inspect the filter. Clean or replace dirty filter elements. Always replace
damaged filter elements. If equipped with an oil-bath air cleaner, also check the oil level.

Air Cleaner Service
A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburettor, reducing engine performance.
If you operate the engine in very dusty areas, clean the air filter more often than specified in the
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.
Operating the engine without an air filter, or with a damaged air filter, will allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not covered by the Distributor’s Limited Warranty.
Dual-Filter-Element Types:
1. Remove the wing nut from the air cleaner cover and remove the air
cleaner cover.
2. Remove the wing nut from the air filter and remove the filter.
3. Remove the foam filter from the paper filter.
4. Inspect both air filter elements and replace them if they are damaged.
Always replace the paper air filter element at the scheduled interval.
5. Clean the air filter elements if they are to be reused.
Paper air filter element: Tap the filter element several times on a hard
surface to remove dirt or blow compressed air [not exceeding 30 psi
(207 kPa)] through the filter element from the inside. Never try to brush
off dirt; brushing will force dirt into the fibres.
Foam air filter element: Cl
ean in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow
drying thoroughly. Or clean in non-flammable solvent and allow drying.
Dip the filter element in clean engine oil, and then squeeze out all
excess oil. The engine will smoke when started if too much oil is left in
the foam.
6. W
ipe dirt from the inside of the air cleaner base and cover, using a moist rag. Be careful to prevent dirt from
entering the air duct that leads to the carburettor.
7. Place the foam air filter element over the paper element and reinstall the assembled air filter. Be sure the
gasket is in place beneath the air filter. Tighten the air filter wing nut securely.
8. Install the air cleaner cover and tighten the cover wing nut securely.
Oil-Bath Type:
1. Remove the wing nut and remove the air cleaner cap and cover.
2. Remove the air filter from the cover, Wash the cover and filter in warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow drying
thoroughly. Or clean in non-flammable solvent and allow drying.
3. Dip the filter in clean engine oil, and then squeeze out all excess oil. The engine will smoke if too much oil is
left in the foam.
4. Empty the used oil from the air cleaner case, wash out any accumulated dirt with non-flammable solvent,
and dry the case.
5. Fill the air cleaner case to the OIL LEVEL mark with the same oil that is recommended for the engine. Oil
capacity: 2.0 US oz (60 cm
3
).
6. Reassemble the air cleaner and tighten the wing nut securely.

Sediment Cup Cleaning
1. Move the fuel valve to the OFF position, and then remove the fuel sediment cup and O-ring.
WARNING! Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive. You can be burned or seriously injured when
handling fuel. Keep heat, sparks and flame away. Handle fuel only outdoors. Wipe up spills
immediately.
2. Wash the sediment cup and O-ring in non-flammable solvent and dry them thoroughly.
3. Place the O-ring in the fuel valve and install the sediment cup. Tighten the sediment cup securely.
4. Move the fuel valve to the ON position, and check for leaks. Replace the O-ring if there is any leakage.
Spark Plug Service
Recommended spark plugs: F7RTC or other equivalents.
An incorrect spark plug can cause engine damage.
1. Disconnect the spark plug cap and remove any dirt from around the spark plug area.
2. Remove the spark plug with a spark plug wrench.

3. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if the electrodes are worn, or if the insulator is cracked or chipped.
4. Measure the spark plug electrode gap with a suitable gauge.
The gap should be 0.028 in -0.031 in (0.70 mm - 0.80 mm). Correct the gap, if necessary, by carefully
bending the side electrode.
5. Install the spark plug carefully, by hand, to avoid cross-threading.
6. After the spark plug seats, tighten with a spark plug wrench to compress the water.
If reinstalling the used spark plug, tighten 1/8 - 1/4 turn after the spark plug seats.
If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats.
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the engine. Over tightening the spark plug can damage
the threads in the cylinder head.
7. Attach the spark plug cap.
Idle Speed Adjustment
1. Start the engine outdoors and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.
2. Move the throttle lever to its slowest position.
3. Turn the throttle stop screw to obtain the standard idle speed.
Standard idle speed: 1800±150 rpm

Spark Arrester Service (optional equipment)
Your engine is not factory-equipped with a spark arrester. In some areas, it is illegal to operate an engine without
a spark arrester. Check local laws and regulations. A spark arrester is available from authorized servicing
dealers.
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100 hours to keep it functioning as designed.
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot. Allow the muffler to cool before servicing the spark
arrester.
1. Remove the three 4 mm screws from the exhaust deflector and remove the deflector.
2. Remove the four 5 mm screws from the muffler protector and remove the muffler protector.
3. Remove the 4 mm screw from the spark arrester and remove the spark arrester from the muffler.
4. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen. Be careful to avoid damaging the
screen.
The spark arrester must be free of breaks and holes. Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged.
5. Install the spark arrester, muffler protector, and exhaust deflector in the reverse order of disassembly.
WARNING! Never use an engine without an appropriate spark arrester in the forest areas! Doing so may
cause a fire!
Service
Change the oil in the petrol motor crankcase regularly to minimise wear.
Inspect, clean and/or replace the motor air cleaner regularly, particularly when operating in a dusty
environment.
Inspect, clean and/or replace the spark plug regularly.

Cleaning and Storage
Keep the unit clean and free of concrete residue.
Ensure the cooling fins on the motor are kept unobstructed.
Troubleshooting
Engine will not start:
Possible Cause Correction
Electric starting: check
battery
Battery discharged. Recharge battery.
Check control positions
Fuel valve OFF. Move lever to ON.
Choke OPEN.
Move lever to CLOSE unless engine is
warm.
Engine switch OFF. Turn engine switch to ON.
Check fuel.
Out of fuel. Refuel
Bad fuel. Engine stored without treating or
draining gasoline or refuelled with bad
gasoline.
Drain fuel tank and carburettor. Refuel
with fresh gasoline.
Remove and inspect
spark plugs.
Spark plugs faulty, fouled, or improperly
gapped.
Gap, or replace spark plugs.
Spark plugs wet with fuel (flooded engine).
Dry and reinstall spark plugs. Start
engine with throttle lever in FAST
position.
Take engine to an
authorised servicing
dealer.
Fuel filter clogged, carburettor malfunction,
ignition malfunction, valve stuck, etc.
Replace or repair faulty components as
necessary.
Engine lacks power:
Possible Cause Correction
Check air filter Filter element(s) clogged. Clean or replace filter element(s).
Check fuel.
