Safety Instrucon
These instrucons are intended to ensure that user can use the product correctly to avoid danger
or property loss.
The precauon measure is divided into Dangers and Cauons:

Danger:
In the use of the product, you must be in strict compliance with the electrical safety regulaons
of the naon and region.
Do not connect several devices to one power adapter as adapter overload may cause over-heat
or re hazard.
If smoke, odors or noise rise from the device, turn o the power at once and unplug the power
cable, and then please contact the service center.
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
1. Do not ingest baery. Chemical burn hazard!
2. This product contains a coin/buon cell baery. If the coin/buon cell baery is swallowed, it
can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.
3. Keep new and used baeries away from children.
4. If the baery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away

5. If you think baeries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek

Chapter 1 Overview
1.1 Overview
Face recognion terminal is a kind of access control device for face recognion, which is mainly
applied in security access control systems, such as logisc centers, airports, university campuses,
alarm centrals, dwellings, etc.
1.2 Features
4.3-inch LCD touch screen, 272 × 480 screen resoluon, real-me detecon and display of the
maximum face frame.
2 MP wide-angle dual-lens
Supports mulple authencaon modes: face, ngerprint, card, PIN code and mulple
combinaon authencaon.
Supports access control period control (plan template) and authorize door opening on demand.
Supports network operaon and issuing personnel authority informaon via the plaorm.
Supports data network upload funcon, which can upload device comparison results and linkage
capture pictures to the plaorm in real me.
When the device is oine, events generated when the device is connected to the plaorm will
be uploaded again.
Supports NTP, manual, and automac me calibraon.
Supports video intercom between devices.
Supports remote video preview and output video code streams via the RTSP protocol.
Support watchdog guard mechanism, tamper design to ensure the device work properly.
Supports mask detecon modes including reminder of wearing mode and must wear mask
mode.
Supports IP65.
Powers supply by standard PoE and at the same me powers supply for door lock (12 VDC/1 A).
Note
Only devices supports PoE support the funcon.

Chapter 3 Installaon
3.1 Installaon Environment
Avoid backlight, direct sunlight, and indirect sunlight.
For beer recognion, there should be light source in or near the installaon environment.
The minimum bearing weight of the wall or other places should be 3 mes heavier than the
device weight.
There shall be no strong reecve objects (such as glass doors/walls, stainless steel objects,
acrylic and other glossy plascs, lacquer, ceramic les, etc.) within 1 m of the eld of view of the
device.
Avoid device reecon.
Face recognion distance shall be greater than 30 cm.
Keep the camera clean.
Note
For details about installaon environment, see Tips for Installaon Environment.
3.2 Install with Gang Box
Steps
1.
Make sure the gang box is installed on the wall.
Note
You should purchase the gang box separately.

Steps
1.
According to the datum line on the mounng template, sck the mounng template on the wall
or other surfaces, 1.45 meters higher than the ground.

Insert the plasc sleeve of expansion bolts into the holes.

3.4 Mount With Bracket
3.4.1 Preparaon before Mounng with Bracket
Steps
1.
Drill holes on the turnsle's surface according to the gure displayed below. And install water-
proof nut.
Note
Solder aer pressing rivets to avoid water from entering.

following operaons are required.
1) Take o the 3 screws shown in the following gure.

3.4.2 Mount Bracket
Steps
1.
Install the base on the turnsle.
1) Align the hole on the turnsle and place the base on the turnsle.
2) Rotate the base to the acquired place and make sure the device will face a correct direcon.
3) Secure the base with wrench.

3.5 Mount With Cylinder Bracket
3.5.1 Preparaon before Mounng with Bracket
Make sure you have drilled holes on the turnsle. If not, follow the steps below to drill holes.
Steps
1.
Use 4 screws (M3 or M4), secured by ange nuts, to install the reinforcing board on the inner
surface of the turnsle.
Note
The distance between the turnsle and the edge should be no longer than 10 mm.
2.
Drill holes on the turnsle's inner surface according to the gure displayed below. And install
water-proof nut.

Chapter 4 Wiring
You can connect the RS-485 terminal with the RS-485 card reader, connect the NC/NO and COM
terminal with the door lock, connect the SEN and GND terminal with the door contact, the
BTN/GND terminal with the exit buon, and connect the Wiegand terminal with the access
controller.
If connect the WIEGAND terminal with the access controller, the face recognion terminal can
transmit the authencaon informaon to the access controller and the access controller can
judge whether to open the door or not.
Note
If cable size is 18 AWG, you should use a 12 V power supply. And the distance between the
power supply and the device should be no more than 20 m.
If the cable size is 15 AWG, you should use a 12 V power supply. And the distance between the
power supply and the device should be no more than 30 m.
If the cable size is 12 AWG, you should use a 12 V power supply. And the distance between the
power supply and the device should be no more than 40 m.
The external card reader, door lock, exit buon, and door magnec need individual power
supply.
4.1 Terminal Descripon
The terminals contains power input, RS-485, Wiegand output, and door lock.

You should set the face recognion terminal's Wiegand direcon as Input to connect to a
Wiegand card reader. If connects to an access controller, you should set the Wiegand direcon as
Output to transmit authencaon informaon to the access controller.

Do not wire the device to the electric supply directly.
4.3 Wire Secure Door Control Unit
You can connect the terminal with the secure door control unit.

Chapter 5 Acvaon
You should acvate the device before the rst login. Aer powering on the device, the system will
switch to Device Acvaon page.
Acvaon via the device, SADP tool and the client soware are supported.
The default values of the device are as follows:
The default IP address: 192.0.0.64
The default port No.: 8000
The default user name: admin
5.1 Acvate via Device
If the device is not acvated, you can acvate the device aer it is powered on.
On the Acvate Device page, create a password and conrm the password. Tap Acvate and the
device will acvated.

5.2 Acvate via Web Browser
You can acvate the device via the web browser.
Steps
1.
Enter the device default IP address (192.0.0.64) in the address bar of the web browser, and press
Enter.

Make sure the device IP address and the computer's should be in the same IP segment.
2.
Create a new password (admin password) and conrm the password.

Edit the device IP address. You can edit the IP address via the SADP tool, the device, and the
client soware.
5.3 Acvate via SADP
SADP is a tool to detect, acvate and modify the IP address of the device over the LAN.
Before You Start
Get the SADP soware from the supplied disk or the ocial website hp://
www.hikvision.com/en/ , and install the SADP according to the prompts.
The device and the PC that runs the SADP tool should be within the same subnet.
The following steps show how to acvate a device and modify its IP address. For batch acvaon
and IP addresses modicaon, refer to User Manual of SADP for details.
Steps
1.
Run the SADP soware and search the online devices.
2.
Find and select your device in online device list.
3.
Input new password (admin password) and conrm the password.

5.
Modify IP address of the device.
1) Select the device.
2) Change the device IP address to the same subnet as your computer by either modifying the IP
address manually or checking Enable DHCP.
3) Input the admin password and click Modify to acvate your IP address modicaon.
5.4 Acvate Device via iVMS-4200 Client Soware
For some devices, you are required to create the password to acvate them before they can be
added to the iVMS-4200 soware and work properly.
Steps
Note
This funcon should be supported by the device.
1.
Enter the Device Management page.
2.
Click on the right of Device Management and select Device.
3.
Click Online Device to show the online device area.
The searched online devices are displayed in the list.
4.
Check the device status (shown on Security Level column) and select an inacve device.
5.
Click Acvate to open the Acvaon dialog.
6.
Create a password in the password eld, and conrm the password.

6.2 Set Password Change Type
Aer acvang the device, you can set the password change type as reserved email address or
security quesons. Once you forgot the device password, you can change the password via the
selected change type.
Change Password via Email Address
If you need to change password via reserved email, you can enter an email address, and tap Next.
Change via Security Quesons
If you need to change password via security quesons, you can tap Change to Security Quesons
on the right corner. Select the security quesons and enter the answers. Click Next.
Note
You can only select one type to change password. If you need, you can enter the web page to set
both of the changing types.
6.3 Set Network Parameters
Aer acvaon and select applicaon mode, you can set the network for the device.
Steps
Note
Parts of the device models supports wi- funcon. Refers to the actual device for details.
1.
When you enter the Select Network page, tap Wired Network or Wi-Fi for your actual needs.

6.4 Access to Plaorm
Enable the funcon and the device can communicate via Hik-Connect. You can add the device to
Hik-Connect modile client and so on.

Enable Access to Hik-Connect, and set the Server IP and Vericaon Code.

b. Go to More → Reset Device Password .

Create a new password and conrm it.

7.2 Communicaon Sengs
You can set the wired network, the Wi-Fi parameter, the RS-485 parameters, the Wiegand
parameters, ISUP and access to Hik-Connect on the communicaon sengs page.
7.2.1 Set Wired Network Parameters
You can set the device wired network parameters, including the IP address, the subnet mask, the
gateway, and DNS parameters.
Steps
1.
Tap System Sengs → Comm. (Communicaon Sengs) on the Home page to enter the
Communicaon Sengs page.
2.
On the Communicaon Sengs page, tap Wired Network.

4.
Set the DNS parameters. You can enable Auto Obtain DNS, set the preferred DNS server and the
alternate DNS server.
7.2.2 Set Wi-Fi Parameters
You can enable the Wi-Fi funcon and set the Wi-Fi related parameters.
Steps
Note
The funcon should be supported by the device.
1.
Tap System Sengs → Comm. (Communicaon Sengs) on the Home page to enter the
Communicaon Sengs page.
2.
On the Communicaon Sengs page, tap.

7.3.7 Search and Edit User
Aer adding the user, you can search the user and edit it.
Search User
On the User Management page, Tap the search area to enter the Search User page. Tap Card on
the le of the page and select a search type from the drop-down list. Enter the employee ID, card
No., or the user name for search. Tap to search.
Edit User
On the User Management page, select a user from the user list to enter the Edit User page. Follow
the steps in User Management to edit the user parameters. Tap to save the sengs.
Note
The employee ID cannot be edited.
7.4 Time and Aendance Status Sengs
You can set the aendance mode as check in, check out, break out, break in, overme in, and
overme out according to your actual situaon.
Note
The funcon should be used cooperavely with me and aendance funcon on the client
soware.
7.4.1 Disable Aendance Mode via Device
Disable the aendance mode and the system will not display the aendance status on the inial
page.

7.4.4 Set Manual and Auto Aendance via Device
Set the aendance mode as Manual and Auto, and the system will automacally change the
aendance status according to the congured schedule. At the same me you can manually
change the aendance status aer the authencaon.

7.5 Data Management
You can delete data, import data, and export data.
7.5.1 Delete Data
Delete user data.
On the Home page, tap Data → Delete Data → User Data . All user data added in the device will be
deleted.
7.5.2 Import Data
Steps
1.
Plug a USB ash drive in the device.
2.
On the Home page, tap Data → Import Data .
3.
Tap User Data, Face Data or Access Control Parameters .
Note
The imported access control parameters are conguraon les of the device.
4.
Enter the created password when you exported the data. If you do not create a password when
you exported the data, leave a blank in the input box and tap OK immediately.

Note
If you want to transfer all user informaon from one device (Device A) to another (Device B),
you should export the informaon from Device A to the USB ash drive and then import from
the USB ash drive to Device B. In this case, you should import the user data before imporng
the prole photo.
The supported USB ash drive format is FAT32.
The imported pictures should be saved in the folder (named enroll_pic) of the root directory
and the picture's name should be follow the rule below:
Card No._Name_Department_Employee ID_Gender.jpg
If the folder enroll_pic cannot save all imported pictures, you can create another folders,
named enroll_pic1, enroll_pic2, enroll_pic3, enroll_pic4, under the root directory.
The employee ID should be less than 32 characters. It can be a combinaon of lower leers,
upper leers, and numbers. It should not be duplicated, and should not start with 0.
Requirements of face picture should follow the rules below: It should be taken in full-face
view, directly facing the camera. Do not wear a hat or head covering when taking the face
picture. The format should be JPEG or JPG. The resoluon should be 640 × 480 pixel or more
than of 640 × 480 pixel. The picture size should be between 60 KB and 200 KB.
7.5.3 Export Data
Steps
1.
Plug a USB ash drive in the device.
2.
On the Home page, tap Data → Export Data .
3.
Tap Face Data, Event Data, User Data, or Access Control Parameters.
Note
The exported access control parameters are conguraon les of the device.
4.
Oponal: Create a password for exporng. When you import those data to another device, you
should enter the password.
Note
The supported USB ash drive format is DB.
The system supports the USB ash drive with the storage of 1G to 32G. Make sure the free
space of the USB ash drive is more than 512M.
The exported user data is a DB le, which cannot be edited.
7.6 Identy Authencaon
Aer network conguraon, system parameters conguraon and user conguraon, you can go
back to the inial page for identy authencaon. The system will authencate person according
to the congured authencaon mode.

Set the user authencaon type before authencaon. For details, see Set Authencaon Mode .
Authencate face, ngerprint or card.
Face
Face forward at the camera and start authencaon via face.
Fingerprint
Place the enrolled ngerprint on the ngerprint module and start authencaon via ngerprint.
Card
Present the card on the card presenng area and start authencaon via card.

The card can be normal IC card, or encrypted card.
PIN
Enter the pin code to authencate via PIN.
If authencaon completed, a prompt "Authencated" will pop up.
7.6.2 Authencate via Mulple Credenal

Face and Fingerprint, authencate any credenal according to the instrucons on the live view

You can use the QR code scanning funcon on the authencaon interface. The device will

When you tap the call buon on the authencaon page, you should dial a room No. to
call.
Call Center
When you tap the call buon on the authencaon page, you can call the center directly.
Call Specied Room No.
You should set a room No. When you tap the call buon on the authencaon page, you
can call the congured room directly without dialing.
Call APP
When you tap the call buon on the authencaon page, you will call the mobile client
where the device is added.
Theme
You can set the theme of the prompt window on the authencaon page. You can select
Theme as Authencaon/Simple.
Authencaon
The device authencaon page will display the live view page. And the person's name,
employee ID, face pictures will all be displayed aer authencaon.
Simple
Aer selecng this mode, the live view of the authencaon page will be disabled, and in
the meanwhile, the person's name, employee ID, face pictures will all be hidden.
7.10 Change Device Password
You can change the device password by entering the old password.
Steps
1.
Long tap on the inial page for 3 s and login the home page. Tap System → Password .
2.
Tap Change Device Password.

Enter the device old password.

Cauon
The password strength of the device can be automacally checked. We highly recommend you
change the password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least
three kinds of following categories: upper case leers, lower case leers, numbers, and special
characters) in order to increase the security of your product. And we recommend you change
your password regularly, especially in the high security system, changing the password monthly
or weekly can beer protect your product.
Proper conguraon of all passwords and other security sengs is the responsibility of the
installer and/or end-user.

7.11 Authencaon Sengs
You can set the access control permissions, including the funcons of authencaon mode, enable
NFC card, enable M1 card, door contact, open duraon (s), authencaon interval (s),

Chapter 8 Congure the Device via the Mobile
Browser
8.1 Login
You can login via mobile browser.
Note
Parts of the model supports Wi-Fi sengs.
Make sure the device is acvated.
Make sure the device and the mobile phone are in the same Wi-Fi.
Enter the device IP address in the address bar of the mobile browser and press Enter to enter the
login page.
Enter the device user name and the password. Tap Login.
8.2 Overview
You can view the door status, network status and basic informaon, and set person management,
smart sengs, authencaon sengs, and door parameters via shortcut entry.

If you forget the password when logging in, you can change the password by email address or
security quesons.
On the login page, tap Forget Password.

Plaorm access provides you an opon to manage the devices via plaorm.
Steps

Tap → Device Access → Hik-Connect to enter the sengs page.
Note
Hik-Connect is an applicaon for mobile devices. With the App, you can view live image of the
device, receive alarm nocaon and so on.
2.
Check Enable to enable the funcon.
3.
You can enable Custom to enter the server address.
Note
6 to 12 leers (a to z, A to Z) or numbers (0 to 9), case sensive. You are recommended to use
a combinaon of no less than 8 leers or numbers.
The vericaon code cannot be 123456 or abcdef (case non-sensive0).
4.
You can view Register Status and Binding Status.
5.
Enable Video Encrypon, and create the password and conrm it.
Note
Aer adding the device to APP, you need to enter the video encrypon password to live view the
device.
6.
You can tap Bind An Account → View QR Code , scan the QR code to bind an acount.

person can only authencate once in the congured interval. A second authencaon will be

Note
The duress code and the super code should be dierent. And the digit ranges from 4 to 8.

Enable DESFire Card
The device can read the data from DESFire card when enabling the DESFire card funcon.

Set RS-485 Parameters
You can set the RS-485 parameters including the peripheral, address, baud rate, etc.

Chapter 9 Quick Operaon via Web Browser
9.1 Time Sengs
Click in the top right of the web page to enter the wizard page. Aer seng device language,
you can click Next to enter the Time Sengs page.

Select the device located me zone from the drop-down list.

You should set the NTP server's IP address, port No., and interval.
Manual
By default, the device me should be synchronized manually. You can set the device me
manually or check Sync. with Computer Time to synchronize the device me with the

You can view the DST start me, end me and bias me.

10.1 Login
You can login via the web browser.
Note
Make sure the device is acvated. For detailed informaon about acvaon, see Acvaon .
Login via Web Browser
Enter the device IP address in the address bar of the web browser and press Enter to enter the
login page.
Enter the device user name and the password. Click Login.
10.2 Forget Password
If you forget the password when logging in, you can change the password by email address or
security quesons.
On the login page, click Forget Password.

your password regularly, especially in the high security system, changing the password monthly
or weekly can beer protect your product.
Proper conguraon of all passwords and other security sengs is the responsibility of the
installer and/or end-user.
10.6.6 Account Security Sengs
You can change the security quesons and answers, or the email address for the device. Aer
change the sengs, once you forgot the device password, you should answer the new quesons or
use the new email address to reset the device password.

DNS Server
Set the preferred DNS server and the Alternate DNS server according to your actual need.

HTTP Port is modied to 81, you need to enter hp://192.0.0.65:81 in the browser for login.
HTTPS
Set the HTTPS for accessing the browser. Cercate is required when accessing.
HTTP Listening
The device can send alarm informaon to the event alarm IP address or domain name via HTTP
protocol/HTTPS protocol. Edit the event alarm IP address or domain name, URL, port, and
protocol.
Note
The event alarm IP address or domain name should support the HTTP protocol/HTTPS protocol
to receive the alarm informaon.
Click Conguraon → Network → Network Service → RTSP .
RTSP
It refers to the port of real-me streaming protocol.

Image Adjustment
Drag the block or enter the value to adjust the live video's brightness and contrast.
Supplement Light Parameters
Set the supplement light type, mode, start me and end me. You can also set the
brightness.
Capture Interval
You can select the capture interval according to your actual needs.

schedule repeats, the shi type, break sengs, and the card swiping rule.) to the shi group to
dene the aendance parameters for the persons in the shi group.
Disable Aendance Mode via Web
Disable the aendance mode and the system will not display the aendance status on the inial
page.
Steps

2.
Disable the Time and Aendance.
Result
You will not view or congure the aendance status on the inial page. And the system will follow

Set the event storage type, picture upload and storage parameters, and the picture clearing

Event Storage Sengs
Select a method to delete the event. You can select from Delete Old Events Periodically, Delete
Old Events by Specied Time, or Overwring.
Delete Old Events Periodically
Drag the block or enter number to set the period for event deleng. All events will be deleted
according to the congured me duraon.
Delete Old Events by Specied Time
Set a me and all events will be deleted on the congured me.
Overwring
The earliest 5% events will be deleted when the system detects the stored events has been over
95% of the full space.

Before conguring passwords, it is necessary to clarify whether the password is a device-set
personal PIN or a plaorm-applied personal PIN. If it is a device-set personal PIN, it can be created
or edited on the device or on the web, and cannot be set on other plaorms; If it is a plaorm-
applied personal PIN, it can be created or edited on the plaorm, and issued to the device before it
can be used. It cannot be set on the device or on the web.

Face Picture Quality Grade for Applying
Set the face picture's grade.
1:1 Matching Threshold
Set the matching threshold when authencang via 1:1 matching mode. The larger the value,

Set the matching threshold when authencang via 1:N matching mode. The larger the value,

Face Recognion Timeout Value

Drag the yellow frame in the live video to adjust the recognion area. Only the face within the area
can be recognized by the system.
Or drag the block of each parameter to set the area.
Click Save.

Set the theme, noce publicaon, prompt schedule, custom prompt, and authencaon result
text.
Set Preference
You can set the display theme and the sleep me for the device.
Set Theme
Click Conguraon → Preference → Screen Display .
Sleep
Enable Sleep and the device will enter the sleep mode when no operaon within the congured
sleep me.
Display Mode
You can select display theme for device authencaon. You can select Display Mode as
Authencaon or Simple. When you select Simple, the informaon of name, ID, face picture
will be not displayed.
Noce Publicaon
You can set the noce publicaon for the device.
Click Conguraon → Preference Noce Publicaon .

Click Media Library Management → + to upload the picture from the local PC.
Note
Only the format of JPG is supported. Each picture should be smaller than 1 MB with resoluon
up to 1920*1280. Up to 8 pictures are supported.
You can click +, and set Name and Type to create a theme. Aer creang the theme, click + in
the Theme Management panel to select pictures in the media library. Click OK to add pictures
to the theme.
Drag the block or enter the number to set the slide show interval. The picture will be changed
according to the interval.
Note
The slide show interval ranges from 1 s to 10 s.
Click Edit Name to change the them name. Click Delete Program to delete the theme.
Schedule Management
Aer you have created a theme, you can select the theme and draw a schedule on the me line.
Select the drawn schedule, and you can edit the exact start and end me.
Select the drawn schedule and you can click Clear or Clear All to delete the schedule.
Customize Audio Content
Customize the output audio content when authencaon succeeded and failed.
Steps
1.
Click Conguraon → Preference → Prompt Schedule .
2.
Enable the funcon.
3.
Set the appellaon.
4.
Set the me period when authencaon succeeded.
1) Click Add Time Duraon.
2) Set the me duraon and the language.
Note
If authencaon is succeeded in the congured me duraon, the device will broadcast the

Reboot device, restore device parameters, and upgrade device version.

Select an upgrade type from the drop-down list. Click

local PC. Click Upgrade to start upgrading.
If the device has been connected to Hik-Connect and network, when there is a new installaon

You can set device debugging parameters.

To raise network security, disable SSH service. The conguraon is only used to debug the

Print Log
You can click Export to export log.
Capture Network Packet
You can set the Capture Packet Duraon, Capture Packet Size, and click Start to capture.

You can search and view the device logs.
Go to Maintenance and Security → Maintenance → Log .
Set the major and minor type of the log type. Set the start me and end me for searching, and
click Search.
The results will be displayed below, which including the No., me, the major type the minor type,
the channel No., the local/remote user informaon, the remote host IP, etc.
10.6.22 Security Mode Sengs
Set the security mode for logging in the client soware.
On the Device for Management page, click Maintenance and Security → Security → Security

Steps

In the Cercate Files area, select a Cercate Type from the drop-down list.
3.
Click Create.
4.
Input cercate informaon.
5.
Click OK to save and install the cercate.
The created cercate is displayed in the Cercate Details area.
The cercate will be saved automacally.
6.
Download the cercate and save it to an asking le in the local computer.
7.
Send the asking le to a cercaon authority for signature.
8.
Import the signed cercate.
1) Select a cercate type in the Import Passwords area, and select a cercate from the local,
and click Install.
2) Select a cercate type in the Import Communicaon Cercate area, and select a cercate

Environment
The scanner should avoid direct sun light, high temperature, humid condions and rain.
When it is dry, the scanner may not recognize your ngerprint successfully. You can blow your
nger and scan again.
Others
If your ngerprint is shallow, or it is hard to scan your ngerprint, we recommend you to use other
authencaon methods.
If you have injuries on the scanned nger, the scanner may not recognize. You can change another
nger and try again.
