Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause

imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

PTZmodeissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault

settings.TheproductcanuseeitherOpticalzoomforinstallationorOpticalZoomformonitoring.ThedefaultmodeisOptical

zoomforinstallation.Inthismodeopticalzoomisdisabledformonitoring,butitispossibletoenableviewareasanddigital

PTZ.TheGatekeeperfunctionisnotavailableinthismode.

SelectOpticalzoomformonitoringtouseopticalzoomonlyformonitoring(suchasforGatekeeper).InthismodedigitalPTZ

andviewareasaredisabled.

Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.

Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum

imagequality.Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage,

selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.

TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby

exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause

movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.

Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto

settingcanbeused.

YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare

toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.

TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.

NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.

Tip:Ifanareaisextremelybright,drawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto

blockoutthebrightareas.

Exposurepriority-WhenMotionisprioritizedandmaximumShuttertimeissettoasmallvalue,motionblurintheimageis

minimized.Thiscanbeusefulforrecognitionofmovingobjectssuchaspeopleandvehicles.

However,prioritizingmotionmaycauseanincreaseinimagenoise,especiallyinlowlightsituations.WhenLownoiseisprioritized

andGainissettoasmallvalue,imagenoiseisminimized.Thelesizeisalsoreduced,whichcanbeusefulifstoragespaceor

bandwidthislimited.Beawarethatprioritizinglownoisemayresultinaverydarkimage,especiallyinlowlightsituations.

Day/Night

TheIRcutlterpreventsinfrared(IR)lightfromreachingtheimagesensor.Inpoorlightingconditions,forexampleatnight,orwhen

usinganexternalIRlamp,settheIRcutltertoOff.Thisincreaseslightsensitivityandallowstheproductto“see”infraredlight.The

imageisshowninblackandwhitewhentheIRcutlterisoff.

UsetheShocksensitivityslidertoadjustthesensitivitylevelatwhichtheproductshouldsendanalarm.Lowsensitivityvalue

impliesthattheproductwillgenerateanalarmonlyifthehitispowerful.Ahighsensitivityvalueimpliesthattheproductwill

generateanalarmevenwithmildtampering.

AudioDetection

Considerations

•MakesurethatthelightingconditionsarewithintheAxisproduct’sspecication.Addadditionallightingifneeded.

Whenconguringalter,startwithasmallltersize,clickSaveandusevisualconrmationtoverifythesettings.

Ifrequired,increasetheltersizeinsmallstepsuntilthenumberofunwantedobjectsisreduced.

SwayingObjectIgnoreFilter

Theswayingobjectlterisusedtoavoiddetectingobjectsthatonlymoveashortdistance,forexamplemovingtrees,agsandtheir

shadows.Usethelterifsuchobjectscausealotoffalsedetections.Iftheswayingobjectsinthescenearelarge,forexamplelarge

pondsorlargetrees,useexcludeareasinsteadofthelter.Thelterwillbeappliedtoallmovingobjectsinsceneand,ifsetto

avaluetoolarge,importantobjectsmightnotbedetected.

Whentheswayingobjectlterisenabledandtheapplicationndsamovingobject,theobjectwillnotbereportedasdetected(red

polygoninvisualconrmation)untilithastravelledadistancelargerthanthesetltersize.Thealarmsentbytheapplicationwillbe

sentwhentheobjectisdetected.Ifthealarmisusedtostartarecording,congurethepre-triggertimesothattherecordingalso

includesthetimetheobjectmovedinthescenebeforebeingdetected.

Theltersizecanalsobesetbyenteringavaluebetween10and50intheeld.Thevaluecorrespondstothedistancefromthe

centerofthecrosstooneofthearrowheads.Thevalue100impliesthatanobjectmusttravelfromitsinitialpointtoonethirdofthe

imagewidthorheightbeforebeingdetected.Thevalue50implieshalfthatdistance,thatis,theobjectmusttraveladistanceof

onesixthoftheimagewidthorheightbeforebeingdetected.

Theshort-livedobjectlterisusedtoavoiddetectingobjectsthatonlyappearforashortperiodoftime,suchaslightbeamsfroma

passingcarandquicklymovingshadows.Usethelterifsuchobjectscausealotoffalsedetections.

Whentheshort-livedobjectlterisenabledandtheapplicationndsamovingobject,theobjectwillnotbereportedasdetected

(redpolygoninvisualconrmation)untilthesettimeaspassed.Thealarmsentbytheapplicationwillbesentwhentheobjectis

detected.Ifthealarmisusedtostartarecording,congurethepre-triggertimesothattherecordingalsoincludesthetimethe

objectmovedinthescenebeforebeingdetected.

Toenablethelter:

1.SelecttheShort-livedobjectsoption.

2.Enterthenumberofsecondsintheeld.Thenumberofsecondsistheminimumtimethatmustpassbeforetheobjectis

SmallObjectIgnoreFilter

Thesmallobjectlterisusedtoavoiddetectingobjectsthataretoosmall.Forexample,ifonlymovingcarsshouldbedetected,the

smallobjectltercanbeusedtoavoiddetectingpeopleandanimals.

Ifusingthesmallobjectlter,takeintoconsiderationthatanobjectfarfromthecameraappearssmallerthananobjectclosetothe

camera.Ifthelterissettoignoreobjectsthesizeofaperson,peoplethatareclosetobecameracanstillbedetectedbecause

theyarelargerthantheltersize.

Toenablethelter:

1.SelecttheSmallobjectsoption.

2.Clickonthe

icontoshowtheltersizeintheimage.

3.Usethemousetoadjusttheltersize.Startwithasmallsize.Movingobjectsthattinsidetherectanglewillbeignored.
