6. Troubleshooting
Symptom Causes Remedy
Picture
No picture is
shown or is
distorted.
• The video cable is not firmly
connected.
• Connect the video cable
firmly.
• The video input mode of the
appliance connected to the
television is not set correctly.
• Set the appropriate video
input mode.
Sound
No audio can be
heard
or it is distorted.
• The audio cables are not
connected properly.
• Connect the audio cables
firmly.
• Volume is set to alower level. • Increase the volume.
• Audio is turned off. • Turn the audio on by pressing
the MUTE button on the
remote control.
• The disc is in the fast playback
/ reverse playback mode.
• Press the [PLAY/ PAUSE]
button.
Disc cannot be
played.
• The disc is incorrectly placed
inside the disc drive.
• Check that the disc is inserted
in the disc drive with the
printed side facing upwards.
• The disc'srating is higher
than the rating set under the
parental control item.
• Restore the parental control
settings.
• The appliance is not compatible
with the disc. The disc is dirty.
• Clean the disc.
Buttons on the
appliance
are not working.
• Appliance is suffering from
static electricity interference,
etc.
• Turn off the appliance and
disconnect it from the power
source.
• Then insert the plug into the
power source and turn the
appliance on again.
Remote Control
does not work or
does not work
properly.
• There are no batteries in the
remote control.
• Insert two type AAA / 1.5
Vbatteries into the remote
control.
• Batteries are flat. • Replace the batteries with
new ones.
• The remote control is not
pointing at the remote control
receiver.
• Check that the remote control
is pointing at the remote
control receiver.
• The remote control is outside of
the operating range.
• Check that the remote control
is within operating range.
• Astrong light (e.g. sunlight)
or fluorescent light (e.g.
fluorescent tube) is shining on
the front panel.
• Shield the remote control
sensor on the appliance from
the light source.
