OPERATING YOUR APPLIANCE
Setting the Temperature Control
To control the internal temperature, adjust the control dial according to the ambient temperature
or the intended use of the appliance.
The first time you turn the unit on, set the temperature control to 3 or 4.
The range of the temperature control is from position OFF to 6, with 6 being the coldest setting.
Adjust the temperature control after 24 to 48 hours, if necessary, but a setting of 3 should be
appropriate for most circumstances.
To turn the appliance off, set the temperature control to OFF.
NOTES:
1. Turning the temperature control to the OFF position stops the cooling cycle but does not shut
off the power to the unit.
2. If the appliance is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes
before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the refrigerator will
not start.
Defrosting
This appliance requires manual defrosting. the surface of the evaporator ices up when the unit is in
normal use. When the frost/ice layer reaches a thickness of 1/4", the appliance must be defrosted
and cleaned. Otherwise, lower efficiency and high energy consumption will result.
1. Empty the appliance and leave the doors open.
2. Turn the thermostat to the OFF position and unplug the unit.
3. Position a shallow tray on the shelf below the chiller compartment.
4. After the ice has melted, dry the unit carefully and empty the drip tray.
5. Reconnect the power and set the thermostat to its original setting; close the door.
6. Allow time for the unit to reach its normal temperature, then reload the contents.
CAUTION: Using a sharp or metallic instrument to remove frost may damage the cooling system and
will void the warranty. Instead, use the ice scraper included with your appliance.
