arepleasedtoexplaintheEmissionsControlSystemWarrantyon
yoursmalloff-roadengine(SORE).InCalifornia,newsmalloff-road
enginesmodelyear2006andlatermustbedesigned,builtand
equippedtomeettheState'sstringentanti-smogstandards.
ElsewhereintheUnitedStates,newnon-road,spark-ignitionen-
ginescertifiedformodelyear1997andlatermustmeetsimilarstan-
dardssetforthbytheU.S.EPA.Searsmustwarranttheemissions
controlsystemonyourenginefortheperiodsoftimelistedbelow,
providedtherehasbeennoabuse,neglectorimpropermainte-
nanceofyoursmalloff-roadengine.
Youremissionscontrolsystemincludespartssuchasthecarbure-
tor,aircleaner,ignitionsystem,fuelline,mufflerandcatalyticcon-
verter.Alsoincludedmaybeconnectorsandotheremissions
relatedassemblies.
Whereawarrantableconditionexists,Searswillrepairyoursmall
off-roadengineatnocosttoyouincludingdiagnosis,partsandla-
bor.
Smalloff-roadenginesarewarrantedrelativetoemissionscontrolpartsdefectsforaperiodoftwoyears,subjecttoprovisionssetforthbelow.
Ifanycoveredpartonyourengineisdefective,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbySears.
Asthesmalloff-roadengineowner,youareresponsiblefortheper-
formanceoftherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourOperatingand
MaintenanceInstructions.Searsrecommendsthatyouretainall
yourreceiptscoveringmaintenanceonyoursmalloff-roadengine,
butSearscannotdenywarrantysolelyforthetackofreceiptsorfor
yourfailuretoensuretheperformanceofallscheduledmainte-
nance.
Asthesmalloff-roadengineowner,youshouldhoweverbeaware
thatSearsmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageifyoursmalloff-road
engineoraparthasfailedduetoabuse,neglect,impropermainte-
nanceorunapprovedmodifications.
Youareresponsibleforpresentingyoursmalloff-roadenginetoan
AuthorizedSearsServiceDealerassoonasa problemexists.
Theundisputedwarrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedinareason-
ableamountoftime,nottoexceed30days.

Theemissionswarrantyisadefectswarranty.Defectsarejudged
onnormalengineperformance.Thewarrantyisnotrelatedtoan
in-useemissionstest.
ThefollowingarespecificprovisionsrelativetoyourEmissionsControlDefectsWarrantyCoverage.ItisinadditiontotheSearsengine
warrantyfornon-regulatedenginesfoundintheOperatingandMaintenanceInstructions.
1. WarrantedParts
Coverageunderthiswarrantyextendsonlytothepartslisted
below(theemissioncontrolsystemsparts)totheextentthese
partswerepresentontheenginepurchased.

2. LengthofCoverage
Searswarrantstotheinitialownerandeachsubsequentpur-
chaserthattheWarrantedPartsshallbefreefromdefectsin
materialsandworkmanshipwhichcausedthefailureoftheWar-
rantedPartsforaperiodoftwoyearsfromthedatetheengine
isdeliveredtoaretailpurchaser.
3. NoCharge
RepairorreplacementofanyWarrantedPartwiltbeperformed
atnochargetotheowner,includingdiagnosticlaborwhich

leadstothedeterminationthataWarrantedPartisdefective,if
thediagnosticworkisperformedatanAuthorizedSearsSer-
viceDealer.Foremissionswarrantyservicecontactyournear-
estAuthorizedSearsServiceDealeraslistedinthe'_Zellow
Pages"under"Engines,Gasoline,""GasolineEngines,""Lawn
Mowers,"orsimilarcategory.
4. ClaimsandCoverageExclusions
Warrantyclaimsshallbefiledinaccordancewiththeprovisions
oftheSearsEngineWarrantyPolicy.Warrantycoverageshall
beexcludedforfailuresofWarrantedPartswhicharenotorigi-
nalSearspartsorbecauseofabuse,neglectorimpropermain-
tenanceassetforthintheSearsEngineWarrantyPolicy.Sears
isnotliabletocoverfailuresofWarrantedPartscausedbythe
useofadd-on,non-original,ormodifiedparts,bytheuseofadd-
on,non-original,ormodifiedparts.
5. Maintenance
AnyWarrantedPartwhichisnotscheduledforreplacementas
requiredmaintenanceorwhichisscheduledonlyforregular
inspectiontotheeffectof"repairorreplaceasnecessary"shall
bewarrantedastodefectsforthewarrantyperiod.AnyWar-
rantedPartwhichisscheduledforreplacementasrequired
maintenanceshallbewarrantedastodefectsonlyfortheperiod
oftimeuptothefirstscheduledreplacementforthatpart.Any
replacementpartthatisequivalentinperformanceanddurability
maybeusedintheperformanceofanymaintenanceorrepairs.
Theownerisresponsiblefortheperformanceofallrequired
maintenance,asdefinedintheSearsOperatingandMainte-
nanceInstructions.
6. ConsequentialCoverage
Coveragehereundershallextendtothefailureofanyengine
componentscausedbythefailureofanyWarrantedPartstill
underwarranty.
