RECOMMENDED SETTINGS FOR SINGLE, BRIDGE & DUAL SURFACE ELEMENTS
Setting
I
Type of Cooking
HIGH (8 - Hi) Start most foods, bring water to a boil, pan broiling
MEDIUM HIGH (5- 8) Continue a rapid boil, fry, deep fat fry
/
MEDIUM (3 - 5) Maintain a slow boil, thicken sauces and gravies, steam vegetables
MEDIUM LOW (2 - 3) Keep foods cooking, poach, stew
LOW (Lo - 2) Keep warm, melt, simmer
Note: The size and type of cookware used wilt influence the setting needed for best cooking results.
Radiant surface elements may appear to have cooled after they have been turned off. The glass surface
may still be hot and burns may occur if the glass surface is touched before it has cooled sufficiently.
Do not place plastic items such as salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on
top of the range when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch
fire if placed too close to the surface elements.
The Single Radiant Surface Elements
The cooktop has single radiant surface elements at 2 locations; the right rear (Fig. 3) and left rear (Fig. 4) element
positions. The BRIDGE element position can also be used as a single element (See Bridge Element Operating Instructions
on pages 8 - 9).
TO Operate the Single Surface Elements:
1. Place correctly sized cookware on the radiant
surface element. @
2. Push in and turn the surface control knob in
either direction to the desired setting (Fig. 2). 0 FF
The Element On light will come on. Turn (do not e hi
push) the knob to adjust the setting if needed.
Start most cooking operations on a higher
setting and then turn to a lower setting to finish 2 £
cooking. Each surface element provides a
constant amount of heat at each setting. A
glowing red surface heating area extending !3 7
beyond the bottom edge of the cookware
4
indicates the cookware is too small for the
surface heating area.
3. When cooking has completed, turn the surface
control knob to OFF before removing the
cookware. The Element On light will turn off.
The Hot Surface light will remain on until the Figure 2
cooktop surface has cooled.
