WARNING: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
This plug is intended to t into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a qualied
electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way or force it into the outlet.
This could result in injury or electrical shock.
SHORT-CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of entanglement or tripping
over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are
available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer detachable power-
supply extension cord is used:
1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the
electrical rating of the appliance.
2. The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or
tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE FIRST USE
For best results, follow these steps before using your Air Fryer + Grill for the rst time.
1. Remove all packaging materials, such as plastic bags and foam inserts.
2. Check to ensure that all parts and accessories are accounted for.
3. Read and remove any stickers on the unit except for the rating label on the bottom,
which should remain on the unit.
4. Wipe down the interior and exterior with a damp cloth.
5. Remove the splatter shield from the lid of the unit by pressing the tab at the top of
the shield to release it.
6. Wash the splatter shield, cooking pan, air fry basket, and grill plate with warm,
soapy water. Dry thoroughly.
7. Reinstall the splatter shield in the lid:
Insert the shield so that the grooves on
the bottom of the shield line up with the
notches in the lid. Then gently push the
splatter shield upward until it clicks into
the tabs on top. NOTE: Always ensure the
splatter shield is in place when cooking.
Not using it will expose the heating
element and fan to oil buildup, which could
cause excessive smoking.

Step 2
HOW TO COOK USING THE PROBE THERMOMETER
Unlike an instant-read thermometer, the probe thermometer stays in your food through
the entire cooking cycle, constantly monitoring the temperature until it reaches the target.
You can use the probe thermometer with any of the ve cooking functions. If using the
probe, see the chart on p. 7 for details on cooking pans and temperature ranges, but follow
the instructions here to program the unit.
1. Set the unit on a hard, at surface with at least 6 inches of clearance on the top and
sides. Put the cooking pan in the unit (and grill plate or air fry basket, if applicable—see
chart on p. 7).
2. Insert the probe horizontally into the thickest part of your food (see drawings). Be sure
the tip of the thermometer isn’t touching bone. If you’re cooking multiple pieces (for
background
10
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
instance, several chicken breasts), put
the probe in the largest one.
3. Plug the other end of the thermometer
into the thermometer jack on the unit.
4. Select your desired cooking function
on the control panel (that button will
light up in blue when pressed).
5. Press Probe Cook.
6. Choose your desired cooking
temperature. Use the + and – on the
Temp button to adjust in increments of
5˚F (the temperature range will depend
on your cooking function; see chart on
p. 7).
7. Next, set your desired target internal
temperature for the food (from 125˚F
to 165˚F). To do so, use the Time + and
– buttons as the Time display in Probe
Mode will have switched to displaying the
probe temperature. Alternatively, if you’re
grilling, you can select one of the preset buttons for Chicken, Meat, or Fish. The unit
will automatically set the cooking temperature and the target internal temperature.
If you’re using the Meat preset, you can also select your preferred doneness: Rare,
Medium, or Well. Repeatedly press the Meat button to make the selection.
8. Press Start/Stop. This will begin the unit’s automatic preheat.
Step 6
Step 3
background
11
9. When the preheat is done (the
time varies depending on the set
temperature), the unit will beep, and
Add Food will display on the panel.
Place food in the unit and close the lid.
NOTE: The lid can close rmly over
the thermometer probe cord without
damaging it, but be sure not to close the
lid on the actual probe.
10. During cooking, the bottom temperature
display will alternate between the current
temperature of your food and the target
temperature. The Internal and Target
lights below the temperature reading will
alternate to indicate which temperature
is displaying. NOTE: If the probe comes
unplugged from the jack during cooking,
cooking will pause, the unit will beep, and
Plug In will display on the panel. Cooking
will resume once the probe is plugged
back in.

HOW TO AIR FRY
The perforated air fryer basket allows air to circulate around foods for even cooking and
crisping, and lets excess fat drip down and away from foods for healthier eating. The
directions below are for cooking without the probe; if you would rather air fry to a specic
internal temperature, see How to Cook Using the Probe Thermometer on p. 9.
CAUTION: Never ll the basket with oil. Unlike deep fryers, air fryers require little to no oil to
produce a crisp texture. If you choose to use oil, toss foods with just a little in a separate bowl
before cooking in the air fryer.
1. Set the unit on a hard, at surface with at least
6 inches of clearance on the top and sides. Put
the cooking pan in the unit, and then place the
air fryer basket in the cooking pan. Ensure the
splatter shield is rmly in place and close the lid.
Plug in the unit.
2. Prepare your food. Depending on what
you’re cooking, you may wish to toss the
food with a little oil (see chart on p. 19).
3. Press Air Fry on the control panel. The Air Fry
button will illuminate in blue, and the default
temperature of 400˚F will appear
on the panel. Press + or – on
the Temp button to adjust the
temperature from 200˚F to 400˚F

COOKING TIPS
Preheating not only the unit but also the grill plate, cooking pan, and/or air fryer
basket is essential. It gives you good grill marks, crisp air-fried foods, and nicely browned
surfaces. Ensure that the cooking pot, grill plate, and/or cooking basket is already in place
before you begin the preheat. CAUTION: Be careful when adding food after preheating as
the interior of the fryer will be hot.
For crisp air-fried foods, oil lightly. Some foods, especially if fresh, benet from being
tossed with a little oil in a separate bowl before frying. However, high-fat foods, like a well-
marbled steak, or prepared foods usually require no additional oil.
Don’t overcrowd the basket or grill plate. Too much food, especially if tightly packed, can
inhibit browning and crisping. A better bet: Cook food in batches.
Shake the basket during cooking for even cooking. A good shake is especially benecial
for smaller items like french fries, onion rings, and chicken wings. For larger or more fragile
foods, consider gently tossing or ipping for even results.
Use silicone or wood utensils to avoid scratching nonstick surfaces.
When baking small items like cookies, scoop dough onto foil or parchment so you can
quickly transfer to the preheated unit. You must preheat with the cooking pan in place.
Check on foods early. Check foods on the earlier side of cooking time; you can always
slide the basket back in to continue cooking.
Follow food-safety guidelines for doneness. Because grill temperatures and food sizes
can vary, do not rely on recipe timing only when cooking food. Check foods for doneness
against current safety guidelines before serving.
Let foods rest. Most large cuts of meat (and even individual-size portions) are best when
they are allowed to rest for a few minutes before serving.

22
TROUBLESHOOTING
Why is there white smoke coming from my unit?
White smoke can be a sign of a dirty splatter shield, that there’s too much fat in the unit,
or that the wrong kind of oil is being used. Be sure to clean the splatter shield after each
use, and choose oils with a low smoke point, such as canola, grapeseed, or avocado oil.
Why has my food cooked unevenly?
Two culprits are likely: overcrowding and not shaking or ipping. Space food with ample
room on the grill, or ll the air fryer basket loosely with food to let air circulate. When
grilling or air frying, shake or ip foods at least once during cooking for more even results.
Why isn’t my food crisp?
Though you can air fry with no added oil, coating foods very lightly with oil (usually
just ½ tsp per batch for most recipes) helps guarantee crisp results. Preheating the unit
also helps.
Why is the unit displaying an error code?
If your air fryer displays E01 or E02 on its control panel, it means there is a loose wire
contact or a short circuit, and the unit will not function. Should this occur, please contact
Chefman
®
Customer Support for a replacement. An error code E03 indicates the unit is
overheating. Unplug it and let it cool down before using again. If you continue to get this
error code, contact Customer Support. The code E04 indicates a connection problem
with the thermometer probe; remove it from your food and the jack, and try reinserting
it and reconnecting to the jack. If the code persists, contact Customer Support as the
thermometer itself may need replacement.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Almost all parts of the Air Fryer + Grill are top-rack dishwasher-safe, except for the main
unit housing and probe thermometer, making cleanup a snap.
1. Unplug the unit and let cool completely before cleaning. (For faster cooling, leave
the lid up.)
2. To remove the splatter shield, press the tab on the top of the shield to release it.
3. Wash the cooking pot, air fry basket, grill plate, and splatter shield with warm, soapy
water, rinse, and dry well with a towel for best results. These parts can also be washed
in the top rack of the dishwasher.
4. Be sure to clean the splatter shield after each use. If the splatter shield has baked-on
grease that does not come off in the dishwasher or with hand washing, an overnight
soak in soapy water should soften it.
5. Wipe down the outside of the unit and the interior basin with a damp cloth as needed.
Be sure the interior basin is fully dry before using again. Do not put the unit in the
dishwasher or submerge in water or any other liquids. Keep liquids away from the
thermometer jack.
6. Wash the thermometer probe in warm, soapy water (do not wash the thermometer's
jack), rinse, and dry well. When dry, insert the probe in its slot on the winding wheel,
and wind the cord around the wheel to prevent kinks. Store the probe and winding
wheel inside the unit.
7. To prevent damaging the nishes, do not use abrasive cleansers on baskets, racks,
or the interior or exterior of the appliance.
