SOLAR FLYING INSECT KILLER
The Bite Shield™ solar flying insect killer uses ultraviolet light in the 300-400nm range
to attract flying insect pests. Insects drawn to the light are electrocuted by the charged
metal grids upon contact, destroying them quickly. Dead insects are collected in the tray
at the base of the unit.

INSTALLATION
- Hang the unit in full sunlight from a branch, beam or other solid object running your
cord, chain or other hanging method through the hanger at the top of the unit. It can be
also placed on the ground by using the stake supplied.
- Avoid competing sources of light and any obstructions within the unit’s operating area.
FOR BEST RESULTS LEAVE THE UNIT OPERATING CONTINUOUSLY FOR THE FIRST
FEW WEEKS TO BREAK INSECT BREEDING CYCLES. THEREAFTER, USE MAY BE
REDUCED TO 12 TO 16 HOURS A DAY (Dusk to Dawn).
FOR DAYTIME USE the performance of the unit may be enhanced by adding a small
amount of syrup, fish or meat to the collection tray at the base of the unit.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
ALWAYS TURN OFF UNIT BEFORE CLEANING OR HANDLING!!!
- Remove dead insects from the collection tray at the base of the unit. With the unit
unplugged, use the included Cleaning Brush to brush away dead insects from the tray
and sides of the unit as needed.
- From time to time the high voltage grid should also be cleaned with the Cleaning Brush.
