Battery Replacement
Under normal conditions, the original battery in your UPS will last several years. Battery
replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel. Refer to “Battery Warnings” in
the Important Safety Warnings section for complete battery safety information.
The SMART1200LCD UPS system requires a Tripp Lite RBC1200 replacement battery
cartridge. The SMART1500LCD UPS system requires a Tripp Lite RBC1500 replacement
battery cartridge. For the SMART1500LCDXL model, only Tripp Lite BP24V15RT2U external
battery pack (rated 24Vdc, 14Ahr with overcurrent protection) should be connected to the
external battery pack connector. For further information about replacement compatibility and

To Replace the Batteries:
1. Remove the retaining screw located on
the bottom of the unit.
2. Carefully pull the bottom panel away from
the UPS.
3. Disconnect the positive (red) and negative
(black) connectors and carefully remove
the old battery from the unit.
