• 12.5mm Eyepiece -- 24x: Increases the power from the low 15x to 24x, which makes it easier to
find and observe some objects that require more magnification.
• 6mm Eyepiece -- 50x: Increases the power to 50x which boosts the magnification up higher to
see more detail of faint objects.
• Moon Filter: A Moon filter reduces the brightness of the Moon and improves contrast so that
greater detail can be observed on the lunar surface. The filter has threads on it to screw into the
bottom of the eyepieces. Note that the filter may only thread part way into the eyepiece, this is
normal as long as it is secure.
• 5x24 Finderscope and bracket: This 5x24 finderscope with bracket will make it easier to
locate astronomical objects in the FirstScope telescope because of its much wider field of view
and low magnification. Installation is simple with no tools necessary.
• Astronomy Software: A fully featured planetarium software that simulates the night
sky and helps you to plan your observing sessions. It can be downloaded by following
the instructions on the included Astronomy Software Download card. Operating Systems:
Windows 7 and up, Mac 10.4.8 and later.

INSTALLING THE FINDERSCOPE
1. R emove the knurled nuts on the threaded posts on the telescope tube – see image on the left above.
2. Mount the finderscope bracket by placing it over the posts protruding from the optical tube
(center image). Then holding it in place, thread on the knurled nuts and tighten them down – see
image on the right.
3. Note that the Finderscope should be oriented so that the larger diameter lens is facing toward
the front of the telescope tube.
4. Your finderscope may have lens caps on both ends of the finderscope and if so please remove
them prior to using it.
ALIGNING THE FINDERSCOPE
1. Locate a distant daytime object and center it in the low power (20mm) eyepiece in the
main telescope.
2. Look through the finderscope (the eyepiece end of the finderscope) and take notice of the position
of the same object. The eyepiece end is on the right side of the image.
3. Without moving the main telescope, turn the adjustment thumbscrews located around the
finderscope bracket until the crosshairs of the finderscope are centered on the object chosen
with the main telescope.
4. If the image through the finderscope is out of focus, rotate the eyepiece of the finderscope for
a clear view.
Note: Objects viewed through a Finderscope are upside down and backwards which is normal.

• Oculaire de 12,5 mm -- 24x : Permet de passer d’une puissance de 15x à 24x, ce qui facilite la
recherche et l’observation d’objets nécessitant des grossissements plus importants.
• Oculaire de 6 mm -- 50x : Permet de passer à une puissance de 50x et d’augmenter ainsi le
grossissement pour repérer davantage de détails sur les objets pâles.
• Filtre lunaire : Ce type de filtre sert à atténuer la luminosité de la Lune et à améliorer le contraste
afin de pouvoir observer un plus grand nombre de détails sur la surface lunaire. Le filetage du
filtre est prévu pour le visser sur la partie inférieure des oculaires. Veuillez noter que le filtre ne
peut être vissé que partiellement dans l’oculaire, ce qui est tout à fait normal dans la mesure
où il est bien solidarisé.
• Chercheur et support 5x24 : Accompagné d’un support, ce chercheur 5x24 est prévu pour
localiser plus facilement les objets astronomiques au moyen du télescope FirstScope en offrant un
champ de vision beaucoup plus important et un faible grossissement. L’installation est simple et
ne nécessite aucun outil.

INSTALLATION DU CHERCHEUR
1. R etirez les écrous moletés situés sur les montants filetés du tube optique – voir image de
gauche ci-dessus.
2. Installez le support du chercheur en le plaçant sur les montants qui dépassent du tube optique
(image au centre). Ensuite, tout en le maintenant en position, vissez les écrous filetés et
bloquez-les – voir image de droite.
3. Veuillez noter que le chercheur doit être orienté de manière à ce que la lentille de plus gros
diamètre soit dirigée sur l’avant du tube du télescope.
4. Si votre chercheur est équipé de caches sur ses deux extrémités, pensez à les retirer avant
toute utilisation.
ALIGNEMENT DU CHERCHEUR
1. Repérez en plein jour un objet éloigné et centrez-le dans l’oculaire de faible puissance (20 mm)
du télescope principal.
2. Regardez dans le chercheur (l’extrémité oculaire du chercheur) et notez la position de ce
même objet. L’extrémité de l’oculaire correspond à la droite de l’image.
3. Sans déplacer le télescope principal, tournez les vis de réglage moletées situées autour du
support de chercheur jusqu’à ce que le réticule (les fils croisés) du chercheur soit centré sur
l’objet choisi avec le télescope principal.
4. Si l’image qui apparaît dans le chercheur est floue, tournez l’oculaire du chercheur jusqu’à ce
qu’elle soit nette.
Remarque : Les objets observés dans le chercheur apparaissent renversés et inversés, ce qui est tout à fait normal.
