COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION. An Insulation Jacket is required when installing your Hestan grill
in an enclosure (island) made of combustible materials (such as wood). Hestan does not recommend
construction of your island using such materials. If your island is constructed of these materails, see the
INSTALLATION section of your Hestan Use & Care manual for cutout dimensions and allowances in your
island. A minimum clearance to vertical combustible material is 12” (30 cm) on the sides and the rear of the
grill is also required.
The minimum vertical clearance to combustible materials means that ALL combustible materials must be
outside this 12” (30 cm) zone. As an example, if you have an island with a stucco or tiled surface and wood-
frame construction beneath, the wood is considered combustible, even though the grill is touching the stucco
or tile surface, which is non-combustible. In extreme circumstances, the wood could potentially get hot
enough to burn. In this case, an Insulation Jacket is required.
VENTILATION OPENINGS
A minimum of three 10 in² (65 cm²) of ventilation openings must be provided for both left and right sides of
your enclosure (island), as well as the back. These openings are required to safely dissipate gas vapors if there
is a leak in your enclosure.
