The U280-00X-IND USB to Serial Adapter features an independent DIP switch for each
serial port. See below for DIP switch settings:

Auto RS-422/485 Detection (Default): Automatically detects the RS-422 or
RS-485 mode and sets the port accordingly.

RS-422 (4-Wire) or RS-485 (4-Wire): Sets the port specifically for use in 4-Wire
mode.

Pin Assignment
Jumper Settings
The included serial adapter uses a male DB9 connector. Please see the connector’s pin
assignment below:
The included serial adapters feature independent TX and RX termination resistors for
each serial port. The jumper settings (short pins) can be modified to avoid impedance
mismatch problems when operating under a multi-drop transmission. To modify the
settings, open the metal covers and set the jumper setting with the included connectors
to enable or disable 120 ohm termination resistors. The factory default setting is OPEN
(disable 120 ohm termination resistors across two wires).

Installation
Specifications
Note: In most cases, the U208-004-IND will receive sufficient power from the connected computer
to operate. In the event that additional power is required, connect a user-supplied external power
supply between the external power connection on the unit and an external power source. The
U208-004-IND is compatible with listed LPS 5V DC power supplies using a 5.5 x 2.1 x 9.5 mm
output plug with a positive tip and negative sleeve.

Using the included USB cable, connect the USB to Serial adapter to an available USB
port on your computer.

Insert the included Driver CD into the computer’s CD/DVD drive. If your computer
does not have a CD/DVD drive, you can download the software at
www.tripplite.com/support.

In the Driver CD, navigate to the Drivers folder and the driver file applicable to your
operating system.

Run the driver file and follow the install prompts to complete installation.

Set the DIP switches on the unit to the appropriate serial mode (see DIP Switch
Settings for more information).

Connect the serial cable between the serial device and the serial ports on the unit.
Note: The RX status LED will blink green when serial data is being received. The TX status LED
will blink yellow when serial data is being sent.

2-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
TRIPP LITE warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period
of two (2) years from the date of initial purchase. TRIPP LITE’s obligation under this warranty is
limited to repairing or replacing (at its sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service
under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from
TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center. Products must be returned to TRIPP LITE
or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center with transportation charges prepaid and must be
accompanied by a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of date and place of
purchase. This warranty does not apply to equipment, which has been damaged by accident,
negligence or misapplication or has been altered or modified in any way.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, TRIPP LITE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,

Instalación
Especificaciones
Nota: En la mayoría de los casos, el U208-004-IND recibirá suficiente alimentación de la
computadora conectada para funcionar. En caso de requerir alimentación adicional, conecte en
la unidad una fuente de alimentación externa suministrada por el usuario entre la conexión de
energía externa en la unidad y una fuente de energía externa. El U208-004-IND es compatible con

Affectation des broches
Paramètres de la bretelle
L'adaptateur de série inclus utilise un connecteur DB9 mâle. Veuillez consulter
l'attribution de broches du connecteur ci-dessous :
Les adaptateurs de série inclus sont dotés de résistances de terminaison TX et RX
pour chaque port de série. Les paramètres de la bretelle (broches courtes) peuvent
être modifiés pour éviter les problèmes de désadaptation d'impédance lors d'un
fonctionnement avec une transmission avec des liaisons multipoints. Pour modifier les
paramètres, ouvrir les couvercles en métal et configurer le paramètre de la bretelle avec

Remarque : Dans la plupart des cas, le U208-004-IND recevra suffisamment de puissance de
l'ordinateur raccordé pour fonctionner. Au cas où de l'alimentation supplémentaire est requise,
raccorder une alimentation externe fournie par l'utilisation entre la connexion d'alimentation externe
sur l'appareil et une source d'alimentation externe. Le U208-004-IND est compatible avec les

Разводка контактов
Положения перемычек
Последовательно подключаемый переходник, входящий в комплект, имеет штекерный разъем DB9. Ниже
представлена таблица разводки контактов в разъемах:
Последовательно подключаемые переходники, входящие в комплект, имеют независимые согласующие резисторы
TX и RX для каждого последовательного порта. Положения перемычек (закороченные контакты) могут меняться
во избежание проблем рассогласования сопротивлений при работе в условиях многоканальной передачи.
Для изменения положений откройте металлические крышки и установите перемычки в нужные положения
с использованием входящих в комплект соединителей для задействования или блокирования 120-омных
согласующих резисторов. Заводская настройка по умолчанию ― OPEN/РАЗОМКНУТО (блокировка 120-омных
согласующих резисторов, шунтирующих два провода).

Установка
Технические характеристики
Примечание. В большинстве случаев устройство U208-004-IND будет получать достаточное для своей работы питание от
подключенного компьютера. При необходимости дополнительного электропитания подключите внешний блок питания (в комплект
поставки не входит) между внешним разъемом питания устройства и внешним источником питания. Устройство модели U208-004-
IND совместимо с перечисленными блоками питания с ограничением по току и выходным напряжением 5 В постоянного тока при
использовании выходного разъема размерами 5,5 x 2,1 x 9,5 мм с плюсовым наконечником и минусовой гильзой.

Подключите переходник USB―последовательный порт к свободному USB-порту компьютера с помощью USB-
кабеля, входящего в комплект.

Вставьте компакт-диск с драйверами из комплекта в дисковод CD/DVD своего компьютера. Если компьютер не
оснащен дисководом CD/DVD, необходимое ПО можно скачать со страницы www.tripplite.com/support.

После загрузки компакт-диска с драйверами перейдите в папку Drivers ("Драйверы") и найдите файл драйвера,
соответствующий используемой операционной системе.

Запустите файл драйвера и следуйте подсказкам инсталлятора для завершения установки.

Настройте DIP-переключатели устройства на соответствующий режим последовательного подключения

Компания TRIPP LITE гарантирует отсутствие дефектов материалов и изготовления в течение двух (2) лет с момента
первоначальной покупки. Обязательства компании TRIPP LITE по настоящей гарантии ограничиваются ремонтом или заменой
(по ее единоличному усмотрению) любых таких дефектных изделий. Для получения услуг по данной гарантии необходимо
получить номер Returned Material Authorization (RMA ― разрешение на возврат материалов) от компании TRIPP LITE или ее
авторизованного сервисного центра. Изделия должны быть возвращены в компанию TRIPP LITE или авторизованный сервисный
центр TRIPP LITE с предоплатой транспортных расходов и сопровождаться кратким описанием возникшей проблемы и документом,
подтверждающим дату и место его приобретения. Действие настоящей гарантии не распространяется на оборудование,
поврежденное в результате аварии, небрежного обращения или неправильного использования, а также видоизмененное каким
бы то ни было образом.
