DishPreparationPrior to Loading
• No pre-rinsing of normal fl_od soil is
required.
• Scrape off hard soils, including bones,
toothpicks, skins and seeds.
• Remove large quantities of any remaining
food.
• Remove leat)' vegetables, meat trimmings,
and excessive amo/mts of grease or oil.
• Remove acidic fl_od soils that can discolor
stainless steel,

['_If tile door is opened dm'ing a cycle and
left open, the dishwasher will beep once
every minute tmtil the door is closed.
ProperUseof Detergent
Use only detergent specifically made tor use in
dishwashers. Cascade ®,Cascade_ Complete and
ElectrasoP Automatic Dishwashing Detergents
have been approved fin" use in all GE dishwashe_.
Kee I) yore" demrgent fresh and dry: Don't put
powder detergent into the dispenser until you're
ready to wash dishes.
All wash cycles except RINSE ONLY require
detergent. The amotmt of detergent to use
depends on whether your water is hard or soft.
Protect yore" dishes and dishwasher bv
contacting your water department and asking
how hard veto" water is. Twelve or more grains
is extremely hard water. A water softener is
recommended. _._]thout it, lime can build up
in the water wflve, which could stick while
open and ca rise flooding. Too m rich detergent
with soil water can cause a permanent
cloudiness of glassware, called etching.

help you. Use tile right amo/mt of detergent.

For SOft water (water hardness <4 grains per
gallon [GPG]), fill cup to fi_st line,
V_ Close tile dispenser co',er.
It is normal for tile co_er to open partiall}
when dispensing detergent.
For medium softwater (4-8 GPG), fill to second line.
For mediumhard_atet (8-12 (,P(,), fill cup.
For extremelyhardwater (> 12GPG), fill both cups.
Forgetto Add a Dish?
A forgotten dish can be added any time before
the main wash,
V_] Squeeze the door latch to release the door.
