Setting Surface Controls (Models with Ceramic Glass Cooktop)
Usethe chart (Figure ! )to determine the correct setting for the kind of food you are preparing,
The Simmer settings are usedto simmer and keep larger quantities of foods warm such asstews
and soups. The lower Siramer settings are ideal for delicate foods and melting chocolate or
butter.
Note: The size and type of cookware used will influence the setting needed for best cooking
results.
Recommended Settings for Single, Bridge and
Dual Surface Elements
Setting Type of Cooking
HIGH (Hi) Start most foods, bring water to a boil, pan broiling
MEDIUM HIGH (5-8) Continue a rapid boil, fry, deep fat fry
MEDIUM (5) Maintain a slow boil, thicken saucesand gravies, steam vegetables
MEDIUM LOW (2 - 4) Keep foods cooking, poach, stew
LOW (Lo - 2) Keep warm, melt, simmer

and will continue to glow until
the glass cooktop has cooled
down to a moderate level.The

hot and burns may occur if tile

the indicator light has turned
off.
Do not place
plastic [terns such as salt
and pepper shakers, spoon
holders or plastic wrappings
on top of the range when it
is in use. These items could
melt or ignite. Potholders,
towels or wooden spoonscouId
catch fire if placed too close to
the surface elements.
Operating Single Radiant Surface Elements (Models with Ceramic Glass Cooktop Only)
Tile cooktop hassingle radiant surface elements at location asshown on figures 3 to 6 ; Model A, the BRIDGEelement position
can also be used as a single element (Seefigure 4; See Bridge Element Operating Instructions on pages 10-11).
To Operate the Single Surface Elements:
I. Placecorrectly sized cookware on the radiant surface element.

Pushin and turn the surface control knob in either direction to the desired setting (Figure [ O
2).Turn the knob to adjust the setting if desired. Start most cooking operations on a higher SJm
setting and then turn to a lower setting to finish cooking. Eachsurface element provides
a constant amount of heat at eachsetting. A glowing red surface heating area extending 2
beyond the bottom edge of the cookware indicates the cookware istoo srnaJI for the
surface heating area.

When cooking hascompleted, turn the surface control knob to OFFbefore removing the
cookware. Note: Tile Surface Indicator light will come on when tile control knob will be
turn on and will continue to glow until the glasscooktop hascooled down to a moderate
level. The light may remain on even though the controls are turned OFF.
