Using the machine for the rst time
Unbox the coffee machine and remove packaging and any other
items that are not part of the product (labels, ties, etc.). (Fig. 1)
Clean the coffee machine with a damp sponge or cloth. (Fig. 2)
Run your machine for the rst time without coffee, i.e.
by just adding water to the tank (B) up to the maximum
level indicated.
BREWING COFFEE
1. Place the machine on a solid, at surface. Connect the appliance to
a 120 V~ electrical outlet. (Fig. 3)
2. Fill the water tank with cold water to desired water level (Max 60 oz).
(Fig. 4-6)
Note: Do not exceed the Max line (60 oz) when brewing into
coffee pot. Doing so could cause coffee maker to overow.
3. Place the coffee pot (J) with its lid on the warming plate (G).
CAUTION: Make sure the coffee pot is correctly placed on the
warming plate before starting the brew cycle. If the coffee pot
is not correctly positioned on the warming plate, hot water or
coffee could overow from the appliance.
4. Place lter holder (E) correctly in the coffee machine, then put
permanent lter (D) in the correct position. (Fig. 7–8)

5. Add the desired amount of ground coffee directly into the lter,
then close the top cover (A). The amount of coffee to use will vary
depending on the desired strength and taste. (Fig. 9)
6. Press the START/PAUSE button (O); an LED light will come on. The
appliance will start the brew cycle and coffee will pass through the
avortube (I), providing a balanced coffee in each cup. (Fig. 10)
During the brew cycle, only the START/PAUSE button (O) will work.
7. The cycle can be interrupted at any time by pressing the START/
PAUSE button (O); the LED will turn off.
8. When the brew cycle has nished, the unit will beep. Wait a few
minutes for the rest of the coffee to nish dripping into the coffee
pot (J) before removing it. (Fig. 11)
9. The coffee maker automatically goes to Keep Warm function after
the brew cycle and the “Time since brew” display will appear on
the LCD screen. Default keep warm time is 2 hours after coffee
brewing has nished. The keep-warm time can be adjusted, see
“Setting the Keep Warm Time” section (p. 17) for more information.
Note: You can end the keep warm time any time by pressing the
“START/PAUSE” button (O). The LED light and the appliance will turn
off. Wait a few minutes before making a second pot of coffee.
USEFUL INFORMATION AND TIPS
The amount of coffee prepared will be less than the volume of
water you lled the tank with, as the ground coffee and lter
partially absorb it.

SETTING THE CLOCK
1. Press and hold the “HOUR” button (L) for three seconds. (Fig. 12)
The time on the LCD screen will ash. Use the “HOUR” (L) and
“MIN” (M) buttons to set the time. (Fig. 13 and 14)
2. After your selection, the time on the LCD screen will ash for ve
seconds and the time is set.
USEFUL INFORMATION AND TIPS
Once the clock is set, it will continue to show the correct time. However,
the clock will be reset if the coffee machine is disconnected from the
mains or if there is a power failure. In this case, repeat the instructions
above to reset the clock. The hour and minute can be reset at any time.
SETTING THE AUTO-ON FUNCTION
1. First, make sure the clock on the appliance is set to the correct
time. If the time shown is incorrect, follow the instructions in the
“Setting the clock” section.
2. Press the “PROG” button (K) once (Fig. 15). The LED light will
come on.
3. Use the “HOUR” (L) and “MIN” (M) buttons to set the desired start
time for the brew cycle. (Fig. 16 and 17)
4. After your selection, auto start time on the LCD screen will blink for
ve seconds and the time is set. The blue LED light will stay on.
Note: i) The current time is shown on the screen. You can check the
auto start time by pressing the “PROG” button (K) again.
ii) You can cancel the auto start function by pressing the “PROG”
button (K) and the LED light will go out.
iii) If you want to change the set auto start time, simply repeat steps
1 to 4 above.
5. The coffee maker will automatically brew coffee at the set auto-on time.
6. After the brew cycle, if you do not want to pour the coffee
immediately, leave the machine switched on and the coffee will
stay warm on the warming plate (G). Default keep warm time is 2
hours after coffee brewing has nished. The keep-warm time can
be adjusted, see “Setting the Keep Warm Time” section (p. 17 ) for
more information.
USEFUL INFORMATION AND TIPS
You can only set one auto-on time at a time on this machine. The
brew cycle can be interrupted at any time by pressing the START/
PAUSE button (O); the LED light and the appliance will turn off.
SETTING THE KEEP WARM TIME
1. Press and hold the START/PAUSE button (O) for three seconds.
(Fig. 18)
2. The keep-warm time will ash on the LCD display. Use the “HOUR” (L)
and “MIN” (M) buttons to set desired Keep Warm Time. (Fig. 19 and 20)
3. After your selection, the keep warm time on the LCD screen will
blink for ve seconds and the time is set.
SETTING THE COFFEE STRENGTH/
SETTINGS FOR SMALL BATCHES OF COFFEE
To personalize brewing strength for best taste: select 1 bean for mild,
2 beans for medium, and 3 beans for strong. When preparing small
amounts of coffee, we recommend that you use the “SMALL BATCH”
setting, which is designed for this purpose.
1. Press the “STRENGTH” (N) button once. (Fig. 21) The coffee bean
strength on the LCD screen will ash.
2. Press the “PROG” button (K) to adjust the coffee strength: 1 bean,
2 beans, 3 beans or SMALL BATCH. (Fig. 22 and 23)
3. After you have done this, the coffee strength selection on the LCD
screen will ash for ve seconds and the strength will be set.

MUTE/UNMUTE THE MACHINE
1. If you want to mute the machine so that it does not make a sound
to alert the end of the brew cycle, press the “PROG” (K) and
“STRENGTH” (N) buttons together. Hold for three seconds. The
mute icon will be displayed on the LCD screen.
2. If you want to unmute the machine so that it makes a sound to alert
the end of the brew cycle, press the “PROG” (K) and “STRENGTH”
(N) buttons at the same time. Hold for three seconds. The mute
icon will disappear from the LCD screen.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Unplug the appliance from the wall socket outlet, and allow the
coffee maker to completely cool down.
To dispose of the used coffee grounds, remove the permanent
lter from the machine and clean gently.
Do not clean the appliance while it is still hot.
Clean the rest of the appliance with a slightly damp soft cloth or
sponge. Never use strong detergents or abrasive cleaners on any
part of the machine.
After cleaning, dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
Use a soft sponge or cloth moistened with vinegar to remove
stubborn stains.
Never immerse the appliance in water or clean it under a running tap.
Any other type of maintenance must be carried out by our
authorized service center staff.
USEFUL INFORMATION AND TIPS
Only the coffee pot (J), its lid (H) and the removable lter holder can
be cleaned in a dishwasher. The other parts of the machine are not
suitable for dishwashers.
DESCALING THE APPLIANCE
For your machine to work optimally over time, you will need to remove
mineral deposits left by the water used. How often they should be removed
will depend on the quality of water supplied to your area and how often you
use your machine. You can use whichever of the following methods is most
practical for you:
A. Using a commercially available descaling product. Prepare
the descaling solution as per the instructions provided with the product.
Next, add the solution to the water tank (B) and run a brew cycle but do
not add ground coffee to the lter.
Once the equivalent of a cup has dripped into the pot, switch off the
appliance and wait 15 minutes. Switch the appliance on again and
complete the brew cycle until the descaling solution previously added to
the tank has run out. Repeat if necessary.
B. Using a white vinegar and water solution. The ratio should be 1 part
vinegar diluted in 3 parts water. Carry out a brew cycle as described
above until the yellow liquid is no longer dripping. Once the descaling
process is complete, use tap water to rinse the coffee machine several
times until the smell of vinegar or descaling product disappears.
If the build-up of limescale or mineral deposits is excessive, the appliance will
show the following symptoms:
1. The brew cycle takes too long. If there is an excessive accumulation of
mineral deposits, the drip rate becomes slower, therefore the cycle takes
longer to complete.
2. The drip function switches on and off constantly before the end of the
brew cycle.
If you notice any of the above symptoms, use the regular brew cycle to
descale the unit using suggested method A or B.
3. The “Clean” icon on the LCD screen ashes to indicate that the
appliance needs cleaning. To descale the appliance, use the suggested
method A or B and the cleaning function by holding down the “HOUR”
(L) and “MIN” (M) buttons, and then press the START/PAUSE button (O)
to start the cleaning cycle.
Think of the environment!
Your appliance contains valuable materials that can be recycled.
Leave it at a local civic waste collection point where it will be disposed of
properly.

Instrucciones preliminares a la primera
utilización del aparato
Extraiga la cafetera de su caja y retire los elementos de embalaje,
así como cualquier otro elemento que no formen parte del
producto (calcomanías, ataduras, etc.). (Fig. 1)
Limpie el exterior de la máquina de café con una esponja o un
paño húmedos. (Fig. 2)
Haga funcionar su cafetera por primera vez sin añadir café; es decir,
añadiendo únicamente agua en el depósito (B) hasta el nivel máximo.
CÓMO PREPARAR CAFÉ
1. Coloque la cafetera sobre una supercie rme y plana. Conecte el
aparato en una toma de corriente de 120 V~. (Fig. 3)
2. Llene la jarra (J) con agua limpia (de preferencia agua embotellada
o ltrada). Abra la tapa abatible y vierta el agua en el depósito de
agua (B) del aparato. La cantidad de tazas que se pueden preparar
se muestra en el indicador de nivel del agua. No llene el tanque
más allá del nivel máximo indicado. (Figuras 4, 5 y 6)
3. Coloque la jarra (J) con su tapa en la placa térmica (G),
asegurándose de que esté correctamente colocada sobre la placa
(G) para que el mecanismo de vertido se active.
4. Coloque el portaltro (E) correctamente en el soporte del portaltro (F),
después coloque el ltro permanente (D) correctamente. (Fig. 7-8)

5. Agregue el café molido en el ltro. La cantidad de café varía
dependiendo del grado y el sabor deseado. Cierre la tapa superior
(A), y asegúrese de que quede bien sellada. (Fig. 9)
6. Pulse el botón START/PAUSE (O); la luz LED se encenderá. El
dispositivo empezará el ciclo de preparación del café, la
preparación pasará entre el tubo mezclador (I), brindando así un
café equilibrado en cada taza. (Fig. 10) Durante el ciclo de colado,
solo funcionará el botón START/PAUSE (O).
7. El ciclo se puede interrumpir en cualquier momento pulsando el
botón START/PAUSE (O); la luz LED se apagará.
8. Cuando el ciclo de colado del café haya terminado, seguirá
teniendo líquido caliente en la canastilla del ltro permanente.
Espere unos minutos hasta que el resto del café termine de gotear
en la jarra (J) antes de retirarlo. (Fig.11)
9. Después de completar el ciclo de colado, la unidad pasará
automáticamente a la función “Conservación de Calor” y la función
“Tiempo desde el colado” aparecerá en la pantalla LCD. El tiempo
predeterminado de conservación de calor es de dos horas después
de que la preparación del café haya terminado. Este tiempo de
conservación de calor se puede ajustar, consulte la sección “Ajuste
del Tiempo de Conservación de Calor” (pág.24) para obtener más
información.
Puede interrumpir la función de la placa térmica pulsando el botón
START/PAUSE (O); la luz LED y el dispositivo se apagarán.
CONSEJOS E INFORMACIONES ÚTILES
La cantidad de café preparada será menor que el volumen de agua
con la que llenó el tanque, ya que el café molido y el ltro ayudan a
absorberlo.
¡PRECAUCIÓN! Para evitar que el agua rebose por el portaltro,
deberá asegurarse de que la jarra (J) está correctamente colocada
en la cafetera con su tapa puesta. De no estar correctamente
colocada sobre la placa calefactora (G), podría rebosar agua o café
caliente del aparato.

AJUSTE DEL RELOJ
1. Mantenga presionado el botón “HOUR” (L) durante tres segundos.
(Fig.12) El tiempo en la pantalla LCD parpadeará. Utilice los
botones “HOUR” (L) y “MIN” (M) para establecer el tiempo.

2. Después de realizar la selección, el tiempo en la pantalla LCD
parpadeará durante cinco segundos y quedará establecido.
CONSEJOS E INFORMACIONES ÚTILES
Una vez ajustado el reloj, continuará indicando la hora correcta
incluso tras haber apagado su cafetera. No obstante, la indicación
del reloj volverá a ponerse a cero si se desconecta la cafetera de la
red eléctrica o se produce una interrupción del suministro eléctrico.
De darse este caso, repita las instrucciones indicadas anteriormente
para volver a ajustar el reloj. La hora y minuto pueden reiniciarse en
cualquier momento.
CONFIGURACIÓN DE LA FUNCIÓN DE
ENCENDIDO AUTOMÁTICO
1. Primero, asegúrese de que el reloj del dispositivo tenga la hora
correcta establecida. Si la hora indicada es incorrecta, siga las
instrucciones de la sección «Ajuste del reloj».
2. Presione el botón “PROG” (K) una vez. (Fig.15) La luz LED se
encenderá.
3. Use los botones “HOUR” (L) and “MIN” (M) para congurar el
tiempo deseado de inicio del ciclo de preparación del café.

4. Después de realizar la selección, el tiempo automático en la
pantalla LCD parpadeará durante cinco segundos y quedará
establecido. Laluz LED azul permanecerá encendida.
Nota: i) Se muestra la hora actual en la pantalla. Puede vericar la
hora programada para el inicio automático pulsando nuevamente el
botón “PROG” (K).
ii) Puede cancelar la función de inicio automático pulsando el botón
“PROG” (K) la luz LED se apagará.
iii) Si desea cambiar la hora establecida de inicio automático, solo
debe repetir los pasos 1 a 4 anteriores.
5. Cuando sea la hora establecida, el aparato empezará a preparar
elcafé.
6. Cuando el proceso haya acabado, si no quiere servir el café de
inmediato, deje la cafetera encendida y el café se conservará
caliente sobre la placa térmica (G). El tiempo predeterminado
de conservación de calor es de dos horas después de que la
preparación del café haya terminado. Este tiempo de conservación
de calor se puede ajustar, consulte la sección “Ajuste del Tiempo de
Conservación de Calor” (pág.24) para obtener más información.

AJUSTE DEL TIEMPO DE CONSERVACIÓN
DE CALOR

AJUSTE DE LA INTENSIDAD DEL CAFÉ /
CONFIGURACIÓN PARA PEQUEÑAS
CANTIDADES DE CAFÉ
Para personalizar la fuerza de preparación y obtener el mejor sabor:
seleccione 1 grano para suave, 2 granos para medio y 3 granos para
fuerte. Cuando se está preparando pequeñas cantidades de café,
recomendamos que utilice la conguración de “SMALL BATCH”
diseñada para menor cantidad de café.
1. Presione el botón “STRENGTH” (N) una vez. (Fig.21) La intensidad
de los granos de café de la pantalla LCD parpadeará.
2. Presione el botón “PROG” (K) para ajustar la intensidad del café:
1grano, 2granos, 3granos o de SMALL BATCH. (Fig.22 y 23)
3. Después de realizar la selección, la selección de la intensidad del
café en la pantalla LCD parpadeará durante cinco segundos y la
intensidad quedará establecida.

Cuando se está preparando pequeñas cantidades de café,
recomendamos que utilice la conguración de “SMALL BATCH”
diseñada para menor cantidad de café.
SILENCIAR/NO SILENCIAR LA CAFETERA
1. Si desea silenciar la cafetera para que no emita ruidos cuando
nalice el ciclo de preparación, presione los botones “PROG” (K) y
“STRENGTH” (N) al mismo tiempo. Manténgalos por tres segundos.
El ícono de silenciamiento se mostrará en la pantalla LCD.
2. Si desea quitar el silenciamiento de la cafetera para que emita
ruidos cuando nalice el ciclo de preparación, presione los botones
“PROG” (K) y “STRENGTH” (N) al mismo tiempo. Manténgalos
por tres segundos. El ícono de silenciamiento desaparecerá de la
pantalla LCD.

LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
Desconecte el aparato de la red eléctrica.
No limpie el aparato mientras aún esté caliente.
Para eliminar los restos del café tras su preparación, retire el
portaltro de la cafetera.
Limpie el resto del aparato con un paño suave o esponja
ligeramente húmeda. Nunca utilice detergentes fuertes o
limpiadores abrasivos en ninguna zona de la cafetera.
Enseguida, séquela bien con un paño suave y seco.
Para eliminar las manchas difíciles, utilice una esponja de plástico
o paño humedecido con vinagre.
Nunca sumerja el aparato en agua ni lo limpie bajo la llave.
Cualquier otro tipo de mantenimiento deberá ser efectuado por
personal de nuestros centros de servicio autorizados.

Solo lave en el lavavajillas la jarra (J), su tapa (H) y el portaltro
removible. Los demás elementos de la cafetera no son adecuados
para poderse lavar en un lavavajillas.
DESCALCIFICACIÓN DEL APARATO
Para que su cafetera funcione de manera óptima con el paso del
tiempo, será necesario eliminar los depósitos minerales dejados
por el agua utilizada. La frecuencia con que deberán eliminarse
dependerá de la calidad del agua abastecida a su zona y de la
frecuencia con que utiliza su cafetera. Puede utilizar cualquiera de
los siguientes métodos que sean más prácticos para usted:
A. Utilizando un producto descalcicador de venta en comercios.
Prepare la solución descalcicadora conforme a las instrucciones
proporcionadas con el producto. Seguidamente, añada la solución
en el depósito de agua (B) y lleve a cabo un ciclo de preparación
del café pero sin añadir café molido en el ltro. Una vez que el
equivalente de una taza haya goteado en la jarra, apague el aparato
y espere 15 minutos. A continuación, vuelva a encender el aparato
y complete el ciclo de preparación hasta que se haya agotado la
solución descalcicadora previamente añadida en el depósito.
Repita el proceso de ser necesario.
B. Utilizando una solución a base de vinagre blanco y agua; la
proporción a utilizar es de 1 parte de vinagre diluida en 3 partes
de agua. Lleve a cabo un ciclo de preparación del mismo modo
indicado anteriormente hasta que deje de gotear líquido de color
amarillo. Una vez completado el proceso de descalcicación,
utilice agua de la llave para enjuagar varias veces el circuito hasta
que desaparezca el olor a vinagre o producto descalcicador.
Si la acumulación de cal o depósitos minerales es excesiva, el
aparato mostrará los siguientes síntomas:
1. El ciclo de preparación del café se prolonga en exceso. De existir
una acumulación excesiva de depósitos minerales, la frecuencia
de goteo se hace más lenta, por lo tanto, el ciclo de preparación se
hace más largo.
2. La función de goteo se activa y desactiva constantemente antes de
nalizar el ciclo de preparación del café.
Si se observa alguno de los síntomas anteriores, use el ciclo de
preparación regular para descalcicar la unidad usando los métodos
sugeridos A o B.
3. El ícono “Clean” en la pantalla LCD parpadeará para indicar que
el aparato necesita limpieza. Para descalcicar el aparato, use los
métodos sugeridos A o B y la función de limpieza manteniendo
presionados los botones “HOUR” (L) y “MIN” (M) y, a continuación,
presione el botón START/PAUSE (O) para iniciar el ciclo de limpieza.

Esta garantía no se aplica a productos que hayan sido manipulados, ni en el caso de daños ocasionados por un uso o mantenimiento
indebidos, un embalaje inadecuado por parte del consumidor o por una manipulación incorrecta del transportista. Para ofrecer el mejor servicio
post-venta posible y mejorar constantemente el grado de satisfacción del cliente, KRUPS puede enviar una encuesta de satisfacción a todos
los clientes que hayan reparado o canjeado sus productos en un servicio post-venta autorizado KRUPS.
La garantía internacional KRUPS se aplica únicamente a productos adquiridos en uno de los países relacionados, y destinados exclusivamente
a uso doméstico en uno de los países indicados en la Lista de Países. Cuando un producto sea adquirido en un país incluido en la Lista y
