HOWTO USE YOUR LAWN MOWER
ENGINE SPEED CONTROL (See Fig. 5)
The engine speed is controlled by a lever located on the
side of the engine. Fast (,1_) position is for starting the
engine, normal cutting, and better grass bagging Slow
('_) position is for light curling, trimming and fue! economy_
ENGINE ZONE CONTROL
CAUTION: Federal regulations require
an engine control to be installed on this
lawn mower in order to minimize the
risk of blade contact injury. Do not
under any circumstances attempt to
defeat the function of the operator con-
trol. The blade turns when the engine is
running.
Your lawn mower is equipped with an operator pres-
ence control bar which requires the operator to be
positioned behind the lawn mower handle to start and
operate the tawn mower

TO EMPTY GRASS CATCHER (See Fig. 7)
o Lift up on grass catcher using the frame handle°
o Remove grass catcher with clippings from under lawn
mower handle,
- Empty clippings from bag using both frame handle and
bag handle°
NOTE: Do not drag the bag when emptying; it will cause
unnecessary wear.

TO ADJUST CUTTING HEIGHT (See Fig. 6)
o Raise wheels for tow cut and lower wheels for high cut
Adjust cutting height to suit your requirements. Me-
dium position is best for most lawns..
= To change cutting height, squeeze adjuster lever to-
ward wheel Move wheel up or down to suit your
requirements,. Be sure all wheels are in the same
setting.
NOTE: Adjuster is properly positioned when plate tab
inserts into hole in Iever. Also, 9@osit[on adjusters (if so
equipped) allow lever to be positioned between the plate
tabs

', Be sure mower is Ievel and area around oil fill is clean.
o Remove engine oft cap w/dipstick and fill to the full line
on the dipstick.
" Use20ozs. of of!. For type and grade of oitto use, see
"ENGINE" in Customer Responsibilities section of this
manual,.
,, Pour oil slowly. Do not over fill.
Check oil fevel before each use.. Add oil if needed. Fill
to full line on dipstick
o To read proper level, tighten engine oif cap each time..
o Reinstall engine oil cap and tighten.
', After the first two (2) hours of mowing, change the oil,
and every 25 hours thereafter. You may need to
change the oil more often under dusty, dirty conditions,
