This vacuum cleaner complies with all current local and
national safety requirements. Improper use can lead to
personal injury and damage to property.
Please read the operating instructions before using the
vacuum cleaner for the first time. They contain important
information on the safety, use, and maintenance of the
vacuum cleaner. This prevents both personal injury and
damage to the appliance.
Miele expressly and strongly advises that you read and
follow the instructions in the “Connection” chapter as
well as the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
Miele cannot be held liable for injury or damage caused
by non-compliance with these instructions.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and
pass them on to any future user.
Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the power
supply when you have finished using it, before changing
any accessories, as well as for maintenance work, clean-
ing, and troubleshooting. Remove the plug from the elec-
trical socket.
Correct use
This vacuum cleaner is intended for cleaning flooring in
domestic households and similar residential environments.
This vacuum cleaner is not suitable for use on construction
sites.
This vacuum cleaner is not intended for outdoor use.

This vacuum cleaner can be used for all normal cleaning
of carpets, rugs and hard flooring.
This vacuum cleaner is intended for use at altitudes of
up to 13000ft (4000m) above sea level.
The vacuum cleaner must only be used to vacuum dry
floor surfaces. Do not vacuum people or animals. Any
other types of use, modifications, or alterations are not
permitted.
Persons which lack physical, sensory or mental abilities
or experience with the machine should not use it without
supervision or instruction by a responsible person.
Use only as described in this manual.
Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
Safety with children
Danger of suffocation! Ensure that any plastic wrap-
pings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the
reach of children.
Children must be kept away from the vacuum cleaner
unless they are constantly supervised.
Do not allow the vacuum cleaner to be used as a toy.
Close attention is necessary when used near children.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury:
Check the voltage rating of the vacuum cleaner before
connecting the power cord to an electrical outlet. Your
power source should correspond with the voltage rating
plate located on the underside of the vacuum. Use only
household AC outlets. Never use DC power sources. If you
are not sure of your home’s voltage supply, consult a qual-
ified electrician. Connecting the vacuum cleaner to a
higher voltage than indicated in these instructions may re-
sult in damage to the vacuum cleaner or injury.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a
polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other.) This plug
will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper out-
let. Do not alter the plug in any way.
Technical safety
Before using the vacuum cleaner and its accessories,
check for any visible signs of damage. Do not use a dam-
aged appliance.
Compare the connection data on the data plate of the
vacuum cleaner (voltage and frequency) with that of the
electricity supply. This data must match exactly. Without
modifications, the vacuum cleaner is suited for 50Hz or
60Hz.
The electrical outlet must be rated at 15Amps.

Reliable and safe operation of this vacuum cleaner can
only be assured if it has been connected to the electricity
supply.
Do not pull or carry the vacuum cleaner by the power
cord, and be careful not to damage the cord when with-
drawing the plug from the socket. Keep the cord away
from sharp edges and do not let it get pinched, for exam-
ple, under a door. Avoid running the vacuum cleaner over
the cord. This could damage the cord, plug or socket. The
appliance must not be used if any of these have suffered
damage.
Do not use the vacuum cleaner if the power cord is
damaged. If the power cord is damaged it must be re-
placed together with the cord reel. For safety reasons this
must only be done by Miele Service or a Miele authorized
service technician.
Repairs should only be performed by an authorized ser-
vice agent in accordance with national and local safety
regulations. Unauthorized repairs could cause injury or ma-
chine damage. Otherwise the warranty may be void.
Repairs should only be carried out by a Miele-authorized
service technician. Repairs and other work by unqualified
persons can cause considerable danger to users.
Miele can only guarantee the safety of the appliance
when genuine Miele replacement parts are used. Faulty
components should only be replaced with genuine Miele
parts.

The packaging material protects the vacuum cleaner
from transport damage. We recommend you keep the
packaging for transport purposes.
Proper use
Do not use the vacuum cleaner without the dust con-
tainer, fine dust filter with filter mat, filter frame, pre-filter,
dust compartment seal, and exhaust filter.
Do not use with damaged cord or plug.
If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped,
damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to
a service center.
Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with
any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and any-
thing that may reduce air flow.
Do not vacuum up anything which has been burning or
smoking, e.g., cigarettes, ashes or hot ash, whether glow-
ing or apparently extinguished.
Do not use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up any water,
liquid or damp dirt. Wait until any freshly cleaned or sham-
pooed rugs or carpets are completely dry before attempt-
ing to vacuum.
Do not use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum toner dust.
Toner, such as that used in printers and photocopiers, can
conduct electricity.
Do not vacuum up any flammable or combustible liquids
or gases and do not vacuum in areas where such sub-
stances are stored.

Do not vacuum at head height and do not let the suction
get anywhere near a person's head.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all part of body
away from openings and moving parts.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
Cleaning
Do not immerse the vacuum cleaner or any accessories
supplied with it in water.
Clean the vacuum cleaner and accessories only with a
dry cloth or slightly damp cloth and mild liquid dish soap.
Exception for fine dust filter:
If the dust filter is heavily soiled, you can rinse the ribbed
side of the filter and the filter mat under cold running water.
Do not use liquid dish soap or cleaning brushes. Do not
use any sharp or pointed objects. After cleaning, allow the
fine dust filter and the filter mat to dry in a well ventilated
room for a minimum of 24hours, placing the filter with the
pleated side facing up. Choose a well ventilated room.
Accessories
It is not advisable to vacuum directly with the handle,
i.e., without an accessory attached, as the rim could get
damaged and you could hurt yourself on sharp edges.
Only use genuine accessories with the “ORIGINAL
Miele” logo on the packaging. The manufacturer cannot
otherwise guarantee the safety of the product.

Disposing of sales packaging
The packaging material protects the
vacuum cleaner from transport damage.
The packaging materials used are se-
lected from materials which are environ-
mentally friendly for disposal and can
therefore be recycled.
Recycling the packaging material re-
duces the use of raw materials in the
manufacturing process and also re-
duces the amount of waste in landfill
sites. Make sure the packaging is dis-
posed of in the proper manner for your
area.
Disposing of your old appli-
ance
Before disposing of your old appliance,
remove the fine dust filter including the
filter mat and the exhaust filter and dis-
pose of them with your household
trash.
Electronic and electrical appliances
contain many valuable materials. They
also contain certain materials, com-
pounds, and components which were
essential for their correct functioning
and safety. These could be hazardous
to your health and to the environment if
disposed of with household trash or if
handled incorrectly. Please do not,
therefore, dispose of your old appliance
with household trash.
Instead, please make use of officially
designated collection and disposal
points to dispose of and recycle electri-
cal and electronic appliances. Please
ensure that your old appliance poses no
risk to children while being stored for
disposal.

Connection
Attaching the suction hose
(Figs. 01+02)
Insert the hose connector into the
suction socket on the vacuum
cleaner until it clicks into position. To
do this, line up the guides on the two
pieces.
If you want to separate the pieces
again, press the release catches at
the side of the hose connector, and
pull the suction hose out of the suc-
tion opening.
Connecting the suction hose to the
handle (Fig. 03)
Insert the suction hose into the han-
dle until it clicks into position.
Connecting the handle to the suction
wand (Fig. 04)
Insert the handle into the suction
wand until it clicks into position. To
do this, line up the guides on the two
pieces.
To release the handle from the suc-
tion wand, press the release button
and pull the handle out of the wand,
twisting it slightly as you do so.
Connect the telescopic suction wand
to the floorhead (Fig. 05)
Push the telescopic suction wand
into the floorhead and turn it clock-
wise or counterclockwise until it
clicks into position.
To detach the floorhead from the suc-
tion wand press the release button
and pull the suction wand away from
the floorhead, twisting it slightly as
you do so.
Activating the TimeStrip® filter
change indicator on the HEPAAir-
Clean exhaust filter (Figs. 06–11)
Depending on the model, your vacuum
cleaner will be equipped as standard
with one of the following exhaust filters:
- HygieneAirCleanSF-HY60
(turquoise)
- HEPAAirCleanSF-HA60 (white)
If your vacuum cleaner is fitted with a
HEPAAirClean exhaust filter, you need
to activate the TimeStrip® filter change
indicator.
You will recognize that the HEPAAir-
Clean exhaust filter is fitted to the appli-
ance by an indicator strip hanging out
of the exhaust filter compartment
(Fig.
06).
Press the release catch on the ex-
haust filter compartment flap and re-
move the flap (Fig. 07).
Remove the indicator strip from the
HEPAAirClean exhaust filter (Fig. 08).
Press the TimeStrip® filter change in-
dicator on the HEPAAirClean exhaust
filter (Fig. 09).

After approx. 10–15 seconds a thin red
line will appear in the left-hand side of
the display (Fig. 10).
Fit the exhaust filter compartment
flap carefully in the bottom of the ex-
haust filter compartment and close
the flap, making sure it clicks into po-
sition (Fig. 11).
How the TimeStrip® exhaust filter
change indicator works
The TimeStrip® exhaust filter change
indicator shows the remaining func-
tional life of the exhaust filter. After ap-
prox. 50operating hours the display will
be completely filled with red (Fig. 12).
50operating hours equates to approxi-
mately one year of use.
Using the accessories supplied
(Figs. 13+14)
Dusting brush
For cleaning skirting boards, as
well as ornate, carved, or particu-
larly delicate objects.
The head can be swiveled to ad-
just the angle.
Upholstery nozzle
For cleaning upholstery, mat-
tresses, cushions, curtains, etc.
Crevice no
zzle
For cleaning in folds, crevices or
corners.
Accessories holder for the
above accessories
Symbols on the holder show
where to attach the different ac-
cessories.
Attach the accessories holder to the
connector on the handle if required.
Make sure it clicks into position
(Fig.
14).
Use
Adjusting the telescopic suction
wand (Fig. 15)
One part of the telescopic suction wand
is packed inside the other, and it can be
adjusted to suit your height for comfort-
able vacuuming.
Grasp the release mechanism and
adjust the telescopic suction wand to
the required length.
Adjusting the floorhead
(Figs. 16+17)
Depending on the model, your vacuum
cleaner will be fitted as standard with
one of the floorheads illustrated.
This vacuum cleaner can be used for
daily cleaning of carpets, rugs, and ro-
bust hard flooring.
Miele offers a range of other floorheads,
brushes, and accessories for other
types of flooring and special applica-
tions (see “Optional accessories”).
Please observe the flooring manu-
facturer’s cleaning and care instruc-
tions.
Clean even hard floors which are not
susceptible to scratching, as well as
flooring with gaps or deep crevices in it,
with the brush protruding:
Press the foot switch.
Vacuum carpets and rugs with the
brush retracted:

Press the foot switch.
If the suction power of the adjustable
floorhead seems too high, reduce the
suction until the floorhead is easier to
maneuver (see “Use” – “Regulating
the suction power”).
Adjustable floorhead (Fig. 18)
The adjustable floorhead can also be
used for vacuuming the stairs.
Risk of injury caused by falling
vacuum cleaner.
You may be injured if the vacuum
cleaner should fall from the stairs.
When vacuuming stairs, it is best to
start at the bottom of the stairs and
move up.
Power cord
Unwind the cord completely to
aid the vacuum in dissipating heat.
Do not pull or carry by the cord, use
the cord as a handle, close a door on
the cord, or pull the cord around
sharp edges or corners. Do not run
the appliance over the cord. Keep
the cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not unplug by pulling the cord. To
unplug grasp the plug, not the cord.
This appliance is equipped with a
power cord reel. Hold the plug when
rewinding onto cord reel. Do not al-
low plug to whip when rewinding.
Unwinding the power cord (Fig. 19)
Pull the power cord out to the re-
quired length.
Insert the plug into the electrical
socket.
Risk of damage due to overheat-
ing.
The power cord may overheat after a
long period of use.
If vacuuming for longer than 30min-
utes, the power cord must be pulled
out all the way.
Rewinding the power cord (Fig. 20)
Remove the plug from the electrical
socket.
Press the rewind foot switch. The
power cord will rewind automatically.
Switching on and off(Fig. 21)
Press the On/Off foot switch.
During vacuuming
During vacuuming, pull the vacuum
cleaner behind you like a sledge.
Selecting the suction power
The suction power can be adjusted to
suit the type of flooring being cleaned.
Reducing the power lowers the amount
of effort required to maneuver the floor
brush.
The vacuum cleaner has symbols on
the controls which indicate the type of
use the settings are suitable for.
Curtains, lightweight fabric
Deep pile carpets, rugs and run-
ners
Low pile carpet and rugs
Hard flooring and heavily soiled
carpets and rugs (also for clean-
ing upholstery and mattresses
with the upholstery nozzle)

When using the adjustable floorhead,
if the suction seems too high, reduce
the suction power until the floorhead
is easier to maneuver.
Turn the suction power selector to the
power level you require, making sure
it clicks into position (Fig. 22).
Opening the air inlet valve (Fig. 23)
It is easy to reduce the suction power
for a short time, e.g., to prevent rugs or
other objects being sucked into the
vacuum cleaner.
Open the air inlet valve on the handle
far enough to reduce the suction
power.
The floorhead will be easier to maneu-
ver.
Setting down and storing the
vacuum cleaner
Risk of electric shock from volt-
age.
The supply voltage is applied to the
appliance even if it is switched off.
After use, unplug the appliance from
the electrical socket.
Park system (Fig. 24)
Retract the telescopic suction wand
fully.
Slot the floorhead or floorbrush into
the park system from above.
Do not lift the vacuum cleaner by the
dust container carrying handle when
transporting it.
Always use the vacuum cleaner car-
rying handle.
Maintenance
Risk of electric shock from volt-
age.
The supply voltage is applied to the
appliance even if it is switched off.
Before carrying out any maintenance
work, unplug the appliance from the
electrical socket.
It is recommended to use only genuine
Miele accessories bearing the “ORIGI-
NAL Miele” logo on the packaging.
Only these will guarantee the optimum
performance of your vacuum cleaner
and the best possible cleaning results.
Please note that faults and damage
caused by use of accessories which
do not bear the “ORIGINAL Miele”
logo on the packaging are not covered
by the vacuum cleaner warranty.
Emptying and cleaning the dust
container(Figs. 25–28)
Empty the dust container before the
dust has reached the max marking
on the dust container (Fig. 25).
Unlatch the dust container by lifting
the handle up (Fig. 26).
Remove the dust container.
The contents of the dust compartment
can be disposed of with normal
household trash, providing it contains
general household dust only.
Hold the dust container close to the
trash can so that as little dust billows
out as possible.
Press the release catch on the bot-
tom of the dust container (Fig. 27).

The flap will open and the dust will fall
out.
If you need to clean the dust con-
tainer, use a slightly damp cloth and
mild liquid dish soap.
Dry the dust container carefully.
Close the flap firmly. It should click
into place.
Insert the dry dust container back
into the vacuum cleaner at an angle
with the handle lifted up (Fig. 28).
Latch the dust container into place by
pushing the handle back down.
Cleaning the fine dust filter
(Figs. 29–36)
The fine dust filter is located on the rear
side of the dust container. It is
equipped with a filter mat.
Clean the filter when necessary and
whenever you notice a reduction in suc-
tion power. Clean both filters with water
once a month and allow a drying time
of 24hours.
Remove the dust container (Fig. 26).
The fine dust filter is located at the rear
of the dust container.
Remove the fine dust filter in the di-
rection of the arrow (Fig. 29).
Remove the filter mat from the fine
dust filter (Fig. 30).
Carefully knock the dust out of both
filters over a trash can.
Take the cleaning tool out of the side
flap on the dust container (Fig. 31).
Clean the pleated side of the fine
dust filter with the long brushes on
the cleaning tool (Fig. 32).
Risk of damage caused by incor-
rect cleaning.
The fine dust filter and the filter mat
can become damaged. Both filters
can lose their effect.
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged
objects to clean the fine dust filter
and the filter mat.
Clean the pleated side of the fine dust
filter and the filter mat with water once a
month.
Rinse the pleated side of the fine dust
filter under cold running water
(Fig.
33).
Clean the filter mat under cold run-
ning water (Fig. 34).
Risk of damage caused by incor-
rect cleaning.
The fine dust filter and the filter mat
can become damaged. Both filters
can lose their effect.
Do not use liquid dish soap or clean-
ing brushes when cleaning the
pleated side of the fine dust filter
with water. After cleaning, allow the
fine dust filter to dry in a well venti-
lated room for a minimum of
24hours with the ribbed side facing
up. Choose a well ventilated room.
After cleaning, also allow the filter
mat to dry for a minimum of
24hours.

Putting the fine dust filter and the fil-
ter mat together
Attach the dry filter mat to the dry fine
dust filter so that the soft side of the
filter mat is pointing up and the loop
used to remove it is visible (Fig. 35).
Fit the fine dust filter carefully in the
dust container (Fig. 36).
Press the fine dust filter firmly into
position.
In order to continue to achieve the
best possible cleaning results replace
the CXFSF fine dust filter with a new
one after approx. 3years.
Reinsert the dust container in the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 28).
Cleaning the filter frame and pre-
filter(Figs. 37–41)
There is a removable filter frame on the
rear side of the dust container side flap.
Behind the side flap is a pre-filter.
Clean both parts whenever necessary.
Remove the dust container (Fig. 26).
Lift up the dust container handle and
hold it in this position (Fig. 37).
Press the release catch on the side
flap. There is a cut-out on the oppo-
site side to make it easier to remove
the side flap.
Remove the side flap.
Once the side flap has been removed,
the pre-filter inside can be accessed.
Clean the pre-filter and the side walls
on the inside using the cleaning tool
(Fig. 38).
Risk of damage caused by incor-
rect cleaning.
The pre-filter can become damaged
and be less effective as a result.
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged
objects to clean the pre-filter.
If you need to clean the interior side
walls, use a slightly damp cloth and
mild liquid dish soap.
Dry the interior side walls carefully.
The filter frame is located on the rear
side of the removed side flap at the bot-
tom.
Press the two release catches on the
side of the filter frame and remove the
filter (Fig. 39).
Clean the filter using the cleaning
tool.
Risk of damage caused by incor-
rect cleaning.
The filter can become damaged and
be less effective as a result.
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged
objects to clean the filter.
If you need to clean the filter frame
and the side flap, use a slightly damp
cloth and mild liquid dish soap.
Dry the filter frame and the side flap
carefully.
Refit the filter at the bottom of the dry
filter frame and lock it, making sure it
clicks into position (Fig. 40).
Carefully fit the dry side flap with the
filter frame at the bottom of the dust
container (Fig. 41).

Lift up the dust container handle and
hold it in this position.
Press the side flap firmly into posi-
tion.
Reinsert the dust container in the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 28).
When to replace the exhaust filter
Depending on the model, your vacuum
cleaner will be equipped as standard
with one of the following exhaust filters:
- HygieneAirCleanSF-HY 60
(turquoise)
Replace this exhaust filter after ap-
prox. oneyear. Make a note of the
date on the exhaust filter.
- HEPAAirCleanSF-HA60 (white)
Replace this exhaust filter if the
TimeStrip® filter change indicator is
completely red.
The display will be completely filled
with red after approximately 50oper-
ating hours; this corresponds to ap-
proximately one year of average use.
You can continue vacuuming in this
case. However, the suction power
will be reduced as will the effective-
ness of the filter.
Replacing the exhaust filter
(Figs. 42+43)
Press the release catch on the ex-
haust filter compartment flap and re-
move the flap (Fig. 07).
Pull the exhaust filter removal tab up
and pull the exhaust filter forward to
remove it (Fig. 42).
Place the insertion aids that are lo-
cated on both sides of the new ex-
haust filter into the guides on the ex-
haust filter compartment (Fig. 43).
Push the exhaust filter back and up.
Press the exhaust filter firmly into po-
sition until it clicks into place.
If you have fitted your vacuum
cleaner with a HEPAAirClean exhaust
filter, press the TimeStrip® filter
change indicator (Fig. 09).
After approx. 10–15seconds a thin red
line will appear in the left-hand side of
the display (Fig. 10).
Fit the exhaust filter compartment
flap carefully in the bottom of the ex-
haust filter compartment and close
the flap, making sure it clicks into po-
sition (Fig. 11).
Replacing the thread lifters (Fig. 44)
(not possible on models with
EcoTeQPlus floorhead)
The thread lifters on the suction inlet to
the floorhead can be replaced. Replace
the thread lifters if the pile has worn
down.
Lift the thread lifters out of the slots.
To do so use a suitable tool, e.g., a
flat-head screwdriver.
Install new thread lifters.
Replacement parts are available from
your Miele dealer or through Miele
Service.

Cleaning and care

Vacuum cleaner and accessories

If moisture gets into the vacuum
cleaner, there is a risk of electric
shock.
Do not let the vacuum cleaner get
wet.
Follow the special cleaning instruc-
tions for the fine dust filter and the fil-
ter mat (see “Maintenance” – “Clean-

Frequently Asked Questions
With the help of the following guide minor faults in the performance of the ma-
chine, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be remedied with-
out contacting the Service Department. Time and money will be saved because a
service call will not be needed.
This guide may help you to find the reason for the fault, and how to correct it.
Risk of electric shock from voltage.
The supply voltage is applied to the appliance even if it is switched off.
Before dealing with any problems, unplug the appliance from the electrical
socket.
Problem Possible cause and solution
The vacuum cleaner
turns off automatically.
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner
off automatically if it gets too hot. This can occur
when the airways are blocked by bulky objects.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately using
the On/Off foot switch. Unplug the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical socket.
After removing the cause of the fault, wait for approx-
imately 20–30minutes to allow the vacuum cleaner
to cool down. It can then be turned on again.
The cleaning perfor-
mance is poor.
The dust container is full.
Empty and clean the dust container (see “Mainte-
nance” – “Emptying and cleaning the dust con-
tainer”).
Cleaning performance

Miele, Inc. (hereinafter "Miele") warrants to the original purchaser of this product, living in the United States of
America, who purchased their vacuum from a Miele Authorized Dealer:
a. That this product, including all of its Miele authorized parts is free of defects in material and workmanship.
b. That this product, if found to be defective within the stated warranty period, will be repaired free of charge to the
consumer (both parts and labor) by an authorized Miele service agent.

commercial purposes. Thereafter this Limited Warranty shall be null and void.
What is not covered by this Warranty
This warranty does not cover damage or defects caused by or resulting from repairs, service or alterations to the
product or any of its parts or accessories which have been performed by service centers or repairmen not authorized
by Miele, or damage or defects caused by negligence, accident, abuse, misuse, improper or abnormal usage or
maintenance of the product, its parts or accessories, or damages caused by the use or installation of non-genuine

national safety requirements. Improper use can lead to
personal injury and damage to property.
Please read the operating instructions before using the
vacuum cleaner for the first time. They contain important
information on the safety, use, and maintenance of the
vacuum cleaner. This prevents both personal injury and
damage to the appliance.
In accordance with standard IEC 60335-1, Miele
expressly and strongly advises that you read and follow
the instructions in “Connection”, as well as in the
“Warning and Safety instructions”.
Miele cannot be held liable for injury or damage caused
by non-compliance with these instructions.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and
pass them on to any future owner.
Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the power
supply when you have finished using it, before changing
any accessories, as well as for maintenance work,
cleaning, and troubleshooting. Remove the plug from the
electrical socket.
Correct use
This vacuum cleaner is intended for cleaning flooring in
domestic households and similar residential environments.
This vacuum cleaner is not suitable for use on construction
sites.
This vacuum cleaner is not intended for outdoor use.

This vacuum cleaner can be used for daily cleaning of
carpets, rugs, and robust hard floors.
This vacuum cleaner is intended for use at altitudes of
up to 4,000m above sea level.
The vacuum cleaner must only be used to vacuum dry
floor surfaces. Do not vacuum people or animals. Any
other types of use, modifications, or alterations are not
permitted.
The vacuum cleaner can only be used by people with
reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience or knowledge, if they are supervised whilst
using it or have been shown how to use it in a safe way
and understand and recognize the consequences of
incorrect operation.
Safety with children
Danger of suffocation! Ensure that any plastic
wrappings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out
of the reach of children.
Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from
the vacuum cleaner unless they are constantly supervised.
Children aged 8 and older may only use the vacuum
cleaner without supervision if they have been shown how
to use it in a safe manner. Children must be able to
understand and recognize the possible dangers caused by
incorrect operation.
Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the
vacuum cleaner unsupervised.

Children should be supervised in the vicinity of the
vacuum cleaner. Never allow children to play with the
vacuum cleaner.
Technical safety
Check both the vacuum cleaner and all accessories
supplied with it for any visible signs of damage before use.
Do not use a damaged vacuum cleaner.
Compare the connection data on the data plate of the
vacuum cleaner (voltage and frequency) with that of the
electricity supply. This data must match exactly. Without
modifications, the vacuum cleaner is suited for 50Hz or
60Hz.
The electrical outlet must be fitted with a 16A or 10A
slow-blow fuse.
Reliable and safe operation of this vacuum cleaner can
only be assured if it has been connected to the power
supply.
Do not use the power cable to carry the vacuum cleaner
or to pull the plug out of the socket. Do not pull the power
cable over sharp edges and do not crush it. Avoid
frequently running over the power cable with the vacuum
cleaner. The power cable, plug, and socket can be
damaged in the process and endanger your safety.

Do not use the vacuum cleaner if the power cable is
damaged. If the power cable is damaged it must be
replaced together with a complete cable rewind. For safety
reasons, this must only be done by Miele Service or a
service technician authorized by Miele.
While the vacuum cleaner is under warranty, repairs
should only be undertaken by a service technician
authorized by Miele. Otherwise the warranty will be
invalidated.
Repairs should only be carried out by a Miele-authorized
service technician. Repairs and other work by unqualified
persons can cause considerable danger to users.
Miele can only guarantee the safety of the appliance
when genuine Miele replacement parts are used. Faulty
components should only be replaced with genuine Miele
parts.
The packaging material protects the vacuum cleaner
from transport damage. We recommend you keep the
packaging for transport purposes.
Proper use
Do not use the vacuum cleaner without the dust
container, fine dust filter with filter mat, filter frame, pre-
filter, dust compartment seal, and exhaust filter.
Do not vacuum up anything which has been burning or
smoking, e.g., cigarettes, ashes or hot ash, whether
glowing or apparently extinguished.

Do not use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up any water,
liquid or damp dirt. Wait until any freshly cleaned or
shampooed rugs or carpets are completely dry before
attempting to vacuum.
Do not vacuum any toner dust. Toner used in printers or
copiers, for example, can be electrically conductive.
Do not vacuum up any flammable or combustible liquids
or gases and do not vacuum in areas where such
substances are stored.
Do not vacuum at head height and do not let the suction
get anywhere near a person’s head.
Cleaning
Do not immerse the vacuum cleaner or any accessories
supplied with it in water.
Clean the vacuum cleaner and accessories only with a
dry cloth or slightly damp cloth and mild dish detergent.
Exception for fine dust filter:
If the dust filter is heavily soiled, you can rinse the pleated
side of the filter and the filter mat under cold running water.
Do not use dish detergent or cleaning brushes. Do not use
any sharp or pointed objects. After cleaning, allow the fine
dust filter and the filter mat to dry in a well ventilated room
for a minimum of 24hours, placing the filter with the
pleated side facing up. Choose a well ventilated room.

accessories, do not damage the handle.

Attaching the suction hose

Insert the hose connector into the
suction opening on the vacuum
cleaner until it clicks into position. To
do this, line up the guides on the two
pieces.
If you want to separate the pieces
again, press the release buttons at
the side of the hose connector, and
pull the suction hose out of the
suction opening.

Insert the suction hose into the
handle until it clicks into position.

Insert the handle into the suction tube

HEPAAirClean exhaust filter

Depending on the model, your vacuum
cleaner will be equipped as standard
with one of the following exhaust filters:
- HygieneAirCleanSF-HY 60
(turquoise)
- HEPAAirCleanSF-HA60 (white)
If your vacuum cleaner is fitted with a
HEPAAirClean exhaust filter, you need
to activate the TimeStrip® filter change
indicator.
You will recognize that the
HEPAAirClean exhaust filter is fitted to
the appliance by an indicator strip
hanging out of the exhaust filter
compartment (Fig. 06).
Press the release catch on the
exhaust filter compartment flap and
remove the flap (Fig. 07).
Remove the indicator strip from the
HEPAAirClean exhaust filter (Fig. 08).

line will appear in the left-hand side of

Fit the exhaust filter compartment

How the TimeStrip® exhaust filter
change indicator works
The TimeStrip® exhaust filter change
indicator shows the remaining
functional life of the exhaust filter. After
approx. 50operating hours the display
will be completely filled with red (Fig.
12). 50operating hours equates to
approximately one year of use.

cleaner will be fitted as standard with
one of the floorheads illustrated.
This vacuum cleaner can be used for
daily cleaning of carpets, rugs, and
robust hard floors.

types of flooring and special

Please observe the flooring
manufacturer’s cleaning and care

Clean even hard floors which are not
susceptible to scratching, as well as
flooring with gaps or deep crevices in it,
with the brush protruding:

If the suction power of the adjustable
floorhead seems too high, reduce the
suction until the floorhead is easier to

Adjustable floorhead (Fig. 18)
The adjustable floorhead can also be
used for vacuuming the stairs.

You may be injured if the vacuum
cleaner should fall from the stairs.
When vacuuming stairs, it is best to
start at the bottom of the stairs and
move up.
Unwinding the power cable (Fig. 19)

Regulating the suction power
The suction power can be regulated to
suit the type of flooring being cleaned.
Reducing the suction power reduces
the amount of effort required to
manoeuvre the floorhead.
The vacuum cleaner has symbols on
the controls which indicate the type of
use the power levels are suitable for.

for a short time, e.g., to prevent rugs or

Emptying and cleaning the dust
container(Figs. 25–28)
Empty the dust container before the
dust has reached the max marking
on the dust container (Fig. 25).
Unlatch the dust container by lifting
the handle up (Fig. 26).
Remove the dust container.
The contents of the dust container can
be disposed of with normal household
trash, providing it contains general
household dust only.
Hold the dust container close to the
trash can so that as little dust billows
out as possible.
Press the release catch on the
bottom of the dust container (Fig. 27).
The flap will open and the dust will fall
out.
If you need to clean the dust
container, use a slightly damp cloth
and mild dish detergent.
Dry the dust container carefully.
Close the flap making sure it clicks
into place.
Insert the dry dust container back
into the vacuum cleaner at an angle
with the handle lifted up (Fig. 28).
Latch the dust container into place by
pushing the handle back down.
Cleaning the fine dust filter
(Figs. 29–36)
The fine dust filter is located on the rear
side of the dust container. It is
equipped with a filter mat.
Clean the filter when necessary and
whenever you notice a reduction in
suction power. Clean both filters with
water once a month and allow a drying
time of 24hours.
Remove the dust container (Fig. 26).
The fine dust filter is located at the rear
of the dust container.
Remove the fine dust filter in the
direction of the arrow (Fig. 29).
Remove the filter mat from the fine
dust filter (Fig. 30).
Carefully knock the dust out of both
filters over a trash can.
Take the cleaning tool out of the side
flap on the dust container (Fig. 31).

Clean the pleated side of the fine dust
filter and the filter mat with water once a
month.
Rinse the pleated side of the fine dust
filter under cold running water (Fig.
33).
Clean the filter mat under cold
running water (Fig. 34).

The fine dust filter and the filter mat
can become damaged. Both filters
can lose their effect.
Do not use dish detergent or
cleaning brushes when cleaning the
pleated side of the fine dust filter
with water. After cleaning, allow the
fine dust filter to dry in a well
ventilated room for a minimum of
24hours with the pleated side facing
up. Choose a well ventilated room.
After cleaning, also allow the filter
mat to dry for a minimum of
24hours.
Putting the fine dust filter and the
filter mat together
Attach the dry filter mat to the dry fine
dust filter so that the soft side of the
filter mat is pointing up and the loop
used to remove it is visible (Fig. 35).
Fit the fine dust filter carefully in the
dust container (Fig. 36).
Press the fine dust filter firmly into
position.
In order to continue to achieve the
best possible cleaning results replace
the CXFSF fine dust filter with a new
one after approx. 3years.
Reinsert the dust container in the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 28).
Cleaning the filter frame and pre-
filter(Figs. 37–41)
There is a removable filter frame on the
rear side of the dust container side flap.
Behind the side flap is a pre-filter.
Clean both parts whenever necessary.
Remove the dust container (Fig. 26).
Lift up the dust container handle and
hold it in this position (Fig. 37).
Press the release catch on the side
flap. There is a cut-out on the
opposite side to make it easier to
remove the side flap.
Remove the side flap.
Once the side flap has been removed,
the pre-filter inside can be accessed.
Clean the pre-filter and the side walls
on the inside using the cleaning tool
(Fig. 38).

Carefully fit the dry side flap with the
filter frame at the bottom of the dust
container (Fig. 41).
Lift up the dust container handle and
hold it in this position.
Press the side flap firmly into
position.
Reinsert the dust container in the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 28).
When to replace the exhaust filter
Depending on the model, your vacuum
cleaner will be equipped as standard
with one of the following exhaust filters:
- HygieneAirCleanSF-HY 60
(turquoise)
Replace this exhaust filter after
approx. oneyear. Make a note of the
date on the exhaust filter.
- HEPAAirCleanSF-HA60 (white)
Replace this exhaust filter if the
TimeStrip® filter change indicator is
completely red.
The display will be completely filled
with red after approximately
50operating hours; this corresponds
to approximately one year of average
use. You can continue vacuuming in
this case. However, the suction
power will be reduced as will the
effectiveness of the filter.
Replacing the exhaust filter
(Figs.42+43)
Press the release catch on the
exhaust filter compartment flap and
remove the flap (Fig. 07).
Pull the exhaust filter removal tab up
and pull the exhaust filter forward to
remove it (Fig. 42).

Place the insertion aids that are
located on both sides of the new
exhaust filter into the guides on the
exhaust filter compartment (Fig. 43).
Push the exhaust filter back and up.
Press the exhaust filter firmly into
position until it clicks into place.
If you have fitted your vacuum
cleaner with a HEPAAirClean exhaust
filter, press the TimeStrip® filter
change indicator (Fig. 09).
After approx. 10–15seconds a thin red
line will appear in the left-hand side of
the display (Fig. 10).
Fit the exhaust filter compartment
flap carefully in the bottom of the
exhaust filter compartment and close
the flap, making sure it clicks into
position (Fig. 11).
Replacing the thread lifters (Fig. 44)
(not possible on models with
EcoTeQPlus floorhead)
The thread lifters on the suction inlet to
the floorhead can be replaced. Replace
the thread lifters if the pile has worn
down.
Lift the thread lifters out of the slots.
To do so use a suitable tool, e.g., a
flat-head screwdriver.
Install new thread lifters.
Replacement parts are available from
your Miele dealer or through Miele
Service.
Maintenance

With the help of the following guide, minor faults in the performance of the
machine, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be remedied
without contacting the Service Department. This will save you time and money
because you won't need a service call.
This guide may help you find the reason for the fault and help you correct it.
Risk of electric shock from voltage.
The supply voltage is applied to the appliance even if it is switched off.
Before dealing with any problems, unplug the appliance from the electrical
socket.
Problem Possible cause and solution
The vacuum cleaner
turns off automatically.
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner
off automatically if it gets too hot. This can occur
when the airways are blocked by bulky objects.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately using
the On/Off footswitch. Unplug the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical socket.
After removing the cause of the fault, wait for
approximately 20–30minutes to allow the vacuum
cleaner to cool down. It can then be turned on again.
The cleaning
performance is poor.
The dust container is full.
Empty and clean the dust container (see
“Maintenance” – “Emptying and cleaning the dust
container”).
Cleaning performance
is reduced.
The fine dust filter is soiled.

Sécurité technique
Avant d’utiliser l’aspirateur et ses accessoires, vérifiez la
présence de signes visibles de dommages. N’utilisez pas
un appareil endommagé.
Comparez les données de raccordement indiquées sur
la plaque signalétique de l’aspirateur (tension et fréquence)
avec celles du réseau électrique. Elles doivent absolument
être les mêmes. Sans modifications, l’aspirateur est adapté
pour 50Hz ou 60Hz.
L’intensité nominale de la prise électrique doit être 15A.
Le fonctionnement fiable et sécuritaire de l’aspirateur ne
peut être garanti que si celui-ci est raccordé à l’alimenta-
tion électrique.
N’utilisez pas le câble d’alimentation pour transporter
l’aspirateur et ne tirez pas dessus pour le débrancher. Ne
tirez pas le câble d’alimentation contre des bords tran-
chants et ne l’écrasez pas. Évitez de faire passer fréquem-
ment l’aspirateur sur le câble d’alimentation. Le câble d’ali-
mentation, la fiche ou la prise peuvent s’en trouver endom-
magés et vous mettre en danger.
N’utilisez pas l’aspirateur si le câble d’alimentation est
endommagé. Si le câble d’alimentation est endommagé,
celui-ci et la bobine doivent être remplacés. Pour des rai-
sons de sécurité, cette opération doit être effectuée uni-
quement par le service technique Miele ou un technicien

composants défectueux ne doivent être remplacés que par

Utilisation correcte
N’utilisez pas l’aspirateur sans le réservoir à poussière,
le filtre à poussière fines avec tissu filtrant, la grille de filtre,
le pré-filtre, le joint de réservoir à poussière et le filtre
d’évacuation.
N’aspirez rien qui a brûlé ou qui fume, qu’il soit in-
candescent ou apparemment éteint (cigarettes, cendres ou
cendres chaudes, etc.).

N’utilisez pas l’aspirateur pour aspirer l’eau, les liquides
ou la saleté humide. Attendez que les tapis ou moquettes
fraîchement nettoyés ou shampouinés soient complète-
ment secs avant d’essayer de passer l’aspirateur.
N’utilisez pas l’aspirateur pour aspirer les particules
d’encre en poudre. L’encre utilisée dans les imprimantes et
les photocopieurs est conductrice d’électricité.
N’aspirez pas de liquides ou de gaz inflammables ou
combustibles et ne passez pas l’aspirateur dans les zones
où ces substances sont stockées.
N’aspirez pas à hauteur de tête et n’approchez pas le
tuyau d’aspiration de la tête d’une personne.
Nettoyage
Ne plongez pas l’aspirateur ou ses accessoires dans
l’eau.
Nettoyez l’aspirateur avec un chiffon sec ou légèrement
humide et un produit détergent doux.
Exception pour filtre à poussières fines:
si le filtre à poussière est très encrassé, vous pouvez rincer
le côté plissé du filtre ainsi que que le tissu filtrant à l’eau
courante froide.
N’utilisez pas de produit détergent ou de brosses de net-
toyage. N’utilisez pas d’objets pointus ou tranchants. Lais-
sez sécher le filtre à poussières fines et le tissu filtrant au
moins 24h après le nettoyage, dans une pièce bien aérée
en plaçant la partie plissée du filtre vers le haut. Choisissez
une pièce bien aérée.

Élimination des produits d’em-
ballage
L’emballage protège l’aspirateur contre
d’éventuels dégâts pendant le trans-
port. Les matériaux d’emballage utilisés
sont sélectionnés en fonction de cri-
tères écologiques pour en faciliter le re-
cyclage.
Le recyclage de l’emballage permet
d’économiser les matières premières
lors de la fabrication et de réduire le vo-
lume des déchets dans les sites d’en-
fouissement. Assurez-vous que l’embal-
lage est éliminé conformément à la ré-
glementation régionale.
Mise au rebut de votre ancien
appareil
Avant de mettre au rebut votre ancien
appareil, retirez le filtre à poussières
fines ainsi que le tissu filtrant et le filtre
d’évacuation et jetez-le avec les or-
dures ménagères.
Les appareils électriques et électro-
niques contiennent des matériaux pré-
cieux. Ils contiennent également des
substances, des composés et des élé-
ments essentiels pour leur fonctionne-
ment adéquat et sécuritaire. Une mani-
pulation ou la mise au rebut inadéquate
de ces matériaux dans vos ordures mé-
nagères peut poser un risque pour votre
santé et l’environnement. C’est pour-
quoi il est important de ne pas mettre
au rebut votre ancien appareil avec vos
ordures ménagères.
Utilisez plutôt des points de collecte et
de mise au rebut officiellement dési-
gnés pour jeter et recycler les appareils
électriques et électroniques. Veuillez
vous assurer que votre vieil appareil ne
pose pas un risque pour les enfants

Le tube télescopique se compose de
deux parties emboîtées l’une dans
l’autre, qu’il faut adapter à la longueur
la plus pratique pour l’aspiration.
Tenez le mécanisme de dégagement
afin de régler la longueur du tube té-
lescopique.
Réglage de la brosse à plancher
(figures 16+17)
Selon le modèle de votre aspirateur, ce-
lui-ci peut être équipé de série de l’une
des brosses à plancher illustrées.
Cet aspirateur peut être utilisé pour le
nettoyage quotidien des moquettes, ta-
pis et planchers durs.
Miele propose une gamme de brosses
à plancher, d’embouts et d’accessoires
pour d’autres types de plancher et
d’applications spéciales (voir la section
«Accessoires en option»).
Veuillez vous conformer aux conseils
de nettoyage et d’entretien du fabri-
cant du revêtement de sol.
Nettoyez les planchers durs non sus-
ceptibles d’être rayés et les planchers
ayant des rainures ou des interstices
profonds avec la brosse sortie:

Si la puissance d’aspiration de la

Nettoyage et vidange du réservoir à
poussière(figures 25–28)
Videz le réservoir avant que la pous-
sière atteigne le repère max dans le
réservoir à poussière (figure25).
Déverrouillez le réservoir à poussière
en soulevant la poignée (figure26).
Sortez le réservoir à poussière.
Le contenu du réservoir à poussière
peut être jeté avec les ordures ména-
gères, tant qu’il ne contient pas de
substances interdites.
Positionnez le collecteur au-dessus
de la poubelle de sorte que le moins
de poussières possible puissent se
disperser.
Appuyez sur la languette de dégage-
ment située en dessous du réservoir
à poussière (figure27).
Le couvercle s’ouvre et la poussière
tombe.
Si vous souhaitez nettoyer le réservoir
à poussière, utilisez un chiffon légère-
ment humide et un détergent doux.
Séchez bien le réservoir à poussière.
Refermez le couvercle en vous assu-
rant qu’il s’enclenche.
Remettez le réservoir à poussière en
place dans l’aspirateur en l’inclinant
avec la poignée redressée (figure28).
Rabaissez la poignée pour enclen-
cher le réservoir à poussière.
Nettoyage du filtre à poussières fines
(figures 29–36)
Le filtre à poussières fines se trouve à
l’arrière du réservoir à poussière. Il est
équipé d’un tissu filtrant.
Nettoyez le filtre lorsque nécessaire et
dès que vous constatez une réduction
de la puissance d’aspiration. Nettoyez
les deux filtres à l’eau une fois par mois
puis laissez-les sécher 24heures.
Sortez le réservoir à poussière (fi-
gure26).
Le filtre à poussières fines se trouve à
l’arrière du réservoir à poussière.
Retirez le filtre à poussières fines en
direction de la flèche (figure29).

partie plissée du filtre vers le haut.

Laissez sécher le tissu filtrant au
moins 24h après son nettoyage.
Assemblage du filtre à poussières
fines et du tissu filtrant
Attachez le tissu filtrant sec au filtre à
poussières fines sec de façon à ce
que le côté doux du tissu filtrant soit
placé vers le haut et que la boucle
servant à le retirer soit visible (fi-
gure35).
Insérez le filtre à poussières fines mi-
nutieusement dans le réservoir à
poussière (figure36).
Appuyez fermement sur le filtre à
poussières fines pour le mettre en
position.
Pour une qualité de nettoyage opti-
male, nous recommandons de rempla-
cer le filtre à poussières finesCXFSF
par un neuf au bout de trois ans envi-
ron.
Remettez le réservoir dans l’aspira-
teur (figure28).

Nettoyage de la grille de filtre et du
pré-filtre(figures 37–41)
Une grille de filtre amovible se trouve à
l’arrière du rabat latéral du réservoir à
poussière.
Le pré-filtre se trouve derrière le rabat
latéral.
Nettoyez les deux parties dès que né-
cessaire.
Sortez le réservoir à poussière (fi-
gure26).
Relevez la poignée du réservoir à
poussière et maintenez-la dans cette
position(figure37).
Appuyez sur la languette de dégage-
ment sur le rabat latéral. La découpe
sur le côté opposé permet de retirer
facilement le rabat latéral.
Retirez le rabat latéral.
Une fois le rabat latéral retiré, l’intérieur
du pré-filtre est accessible.
Nettoyez le pré-filtre et les parois la-
térales intérieures en utilisant l’outil
de nettoyage (figure38).

Relevez la poignée du réservoir à
poussière et maintenez-la dans cette
position.
Appuyez franchement sur le rabat la-

Remettez le réservoir dans l’aspira-

Quand remplacer le filtre d’évacua-
tion
Selon le modèle, votre aspirateur peut
être équipé de l’un des filtres d’évacua-
tion de série suivants:
- HygieneAirCleanSF-HY 60 (tur-
quoise)
Remplacez ce filtre d’évacuation
après environ un an. Notez la date de
remplacement sur le filtre d’évacua-
tion.
- HEPAAirCleanSF-HA60 (blanc)
Remplacez ce filtre d’évacuation
lorsque l’indicateur de remplacement
TimeStrip® du filtre d’évacuation est
complètement rouge.
L’affichage deviendra entièrement
rouge après environ 50heures de
fonctionnement; cela représente en-
viron un an d’utilisation moyenne.
Vous pouvez continuer à utiliser l’ap-
pareil dans ce cas. Mais la puissance
d’aspiration sera réduite, ainsi que
l’efficacité du filtre, si ce dernier n’est
pas remplacé.
Remplacement du filtre d’évacuation
(figures 42+43)
Appuyez sur la languette de dégage-
ment du rabat du compartiment du
filtre d’évacuation et retirez le rabat
(figure07).
Levez la languette de retrait du filtre
d’évacuation et tirez le filtre d’éva-
cuation vers l’avant pour le retirer (fi-
gure42).
Placez les auxiliaires d’insertion des
deux côtés du nouveau filtre d’éva-
cuation dans les guides du comparti-
ment du filtre d’évacuation (figure43).
Replacez le filtre d’évacuation.
Appuyez fermement sur le filtre
d’évacuation pour le remettre en po-
sition jusqu’à ce qu’il s’enclenche.
Si votre aspirateur est doté d’un filtre
d’évacuation HEPAAirClean, ap-
puyez sur l’indicateur de remplace-
ment TimeStrip® du filtre d’évacua-
tion (figure09).
Après 10–15secondes environ, une pe-
tite bande rouge apparaîtra dans la par-
tie gauche du voyant (figure10).
Insérez soigneusement le rabat du
compartiment du filtre d’évacuation
en bas du compartiment du filtre
d’évacuation puis fermez le rabat en
vous assurant qu’il s'enclenche dans
la bonne position (figure11).
Remplacement des ramasse-fils
(figure44)

Les ramasse-fils au niveau de la fente

peuvent être remplacés. Remplacez les

facilement. Le contact avec des pro-
duits de nettoyage inappropriés peut
altérer ou décolorer les surfaces.
N’utilisez pas d’agents nettoyants
abrasifs, de produits pour vitres, de
nettoyants tout usage ni de net-
toyants à base d’huile.

Un limiteur de température éteint l’aspirateur s’il de-
vient trop chaud. Cela peut survenir lorsque les
conduits d’air sont bloqués par des objets encom-
brants.
Éteignez l’aspirateur immédiatement au moyen du
bouton-pédale marche/arrêt. Débranchez l’as-
pirateur de la prise de courant.
Après élimination de la cause du problème, attendez
environ 20–30minutes pour que l’appareil ait suffi-
samment refroidi. Il peut ensuite être remis en
marche.
Nettoyage non efficace. Le réservoir à poussière est plein.
Videz et nettoyez le réservoir à poussière (voir
«Entretien»–«Nettoyage et vidange du réservoir
à poussière»).
Qualité de nettoyage ré-
duite.
Le filtre à poussières fines est sale.

authorized parts and accessories, is free of defects in material and workmanship.
1. Duration of Warranty
This warranty is valid during the following time periods:
a) Domestic appliances in normal, non-commercial, household use:
– One (1) year. Parts and labour.
– RemoteVision® Modules: Please refer to Miele's "Limited Warranty - RemoteVision® Module - Canada".
– Additional 5 and 10 Year Limited Warranty on Sealed Refrigeration Systems: The Warranty for the Sealed
Refrigeration System includes all original compressors, condensers, evaporators, driers, the original
refrigerant and the original connecting tubing.
– Five (5) Year Warranty - If a claim regarding a defect in material or workmanship relating to the Sealed
Refrigeration Systems used in Miele Refrigerators, Wine Coolers, and Freezers is received by Miele within
five (5) years from the date of purchase, then any warranted failures of the Sealed Refrigeration System
shall be repaired at no cost to you (including parts & labour).
– Ten (10) Year Warranty - If a claim of such a defect is received at any time during the period starting from
the sixth (6th) year and ending on the last day of the tenth (10th) year after the date of purchase, this
Warranty shall cover the replacement or repair of all parts of the Sealed Refrigeration System covered by
the Warranty that is found to be defective in material or workmanship but shall not include labour. Upon

3. Warranty Preconditions
3.1 Miele assumes warranty responsibility subject to the following preconditions having been fulfilled:
a) You are the original purchaser and did not obtain the product through resale;
b) The product was purchased from Miele or an authorized Miele dealer in Canada;
c) If applicable, the product was installed by a person designated by Miele as qualified to do so and in
accordance with applicable installation instructions; and
d) The product is located in Canada.
3.2 Warranty claims will only be honoured provided that any failure to conform to this warranty is reported in
writing and the product is returned together with proof of purchase date to Miele or to a Miele authorized
dealer, as applicable, within the time period stated in Section 1 above.
4. Extent of Warranty
In the event of defect in material or workmanship occurring within the time period stated in I. above, Miele will
repair, or at its option replace, within a reasonable period of time, the product or any Miele authorized part or
accessory discovered to be defective in workmanship or materials. Defective products and parts become the
property of Miele upon replacement.

5. Exclusions
Warranty coverage excludes any product, including its parts and accessories, that:
a) was not installed according to Miele's installation instruction;
b) was damaged by negligence, accident, abuse, misuse, improper or abnormal usage, maintenance or
transportation;
c) contains non-authentic Miele accessories or replacement parts, including filters, dust bags and other non-
Miele products; and
d) was repaired, serviced, altered or modified by someone other than a Miele authorized service centre or
technician.
6. Ordinary Wear and Tear
Ordinary wear and tear shall not be considered a defect in workmanship or materials.
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 Unless you purchase extended warranty coverage from Miele prior to the expiry of this warranty, this warranty
is the sole warranty offered by Miele to you. Miele disclaims any and all other warranties to the fullest extent
permitted by law, whether express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a
particular except as provided herein.
7.2 Your sole remedies under this warranty are those described herein. Unless otherwise stated, Miele's liability for
actual damage from any cause whatsoever is limited to the amount paid by you for the product. Miele disclaims
any and all liability and consequential or other damage whether based on breach of contract, tort (including
negligence), product liability or any other legal theory. In no event will either party be responsible for any lost profits
or savings, incidental damage or other economic damages.
8. Special Provincial laws
This warranty gives the purchaser specific legal rights. The purchaser may also have other rights which may vary
from Province to Province in Canada. Some provinces do not allow limitation or exclusion of implied warranties,
therefore, certain limitations and exclusions may not apply.

9.2 Service may require that the appliance be removed and taken, by authorized Miele personnel, to an
authorized Miele Service Centre. If service is requested by you in a remote geographical area, as determined
by Miele in its sole discretion from time to time, you will, at Miele's option, be responsible for either:
a) the travel expenses incurred by Miele to attend your premises; or
b) the cost of removal and shipment of the appliance from your premises to the nearest authorized Miele
Service Centre.

Les conditions de la garantie suivante sont valides au Canada seulement.
Miele Limitée, (ci-après nommée "Miele") garantit à l’acheteur original que ce produit, y compris tous ses accessoires
et pièces autorisés par Miele, est libre de tout défaut de matériel et de fabrication.
1. Entrée en vigueur et durée de la garantie
Cette garantie est valide durant la période de temps suivante :
a) Appareils électroménagers aux fins d’utilisation domestique normale et non commerciale :
– Un (1) an, pièce et main-d’œuvre.
– Modules RemoteVision® : Veuillez vous reporter à la "Garantie restreinte - Module RemoteVision® -
Canada" de Miele.
– Garantie supplémentaire de 5 et 10 ans sur les systèmes scellés de réfrigération : la garantie sur le
système scellé de réfrigération couvre tous les compresseurs, les condensateurs, les évaporateurs et les
déshydrateurs-filtres d'origine, ainsi que le fluide frigorigène et les tuyaux de raccordement d'origine.
– Garantie de cinq (5) ans - Si une plainte concernant un matériau défectueux ou un défaut de fabrication lié
au système scellé de réfrigération utilisé dans les réfrigérateurs, les caves à vin et les congélateurs Miele est
adressée à Miele dans les cinq (5) ans suivant la date d'achat de l'appareil, les défauts du système scellé de
réfrigération couverts par la garantie seront réparés gratuitement (pièces et main-d'œuvre comprises).
– Garantie de dix (10) ans - Si une plainte concernant les défauts susmentionnés est adressée à Miele à
partir de la sixième (6e) année et jusqu'au dernier jour de la dixième (10e) année suivant la date d'achat
de l'appareil, la garantie couvrira le remplacement ou la réparation de tous les éléments du système
scellé de réfrigération présentant un défaut matériel ou un défaut de fabrication couvert par la garantie,
excepté les frais de main-d'œuvre. Si le client en fait la demande, Miele se chargera de la réparation ou du
remplacement des pièces, mais aux frais du client.
b) Appareils électroménagers aux fins d’utilisation commerciale :
– Six (6) mois, pour pièces et main-d’œuvre.
c) Aspirateurs destinés à une utilisation domestique, non commerciale dans des conditions normales :
– Un (1) an, pour les aspirateurs verticaules aspirateur-balais sans fil et les aspirateurs-traîneaux pièces et
main-d’œuvre.
– Deux (2) ans, pour le moteur des aspirateurs verticaux S170 - S189 pièces et main-d’œuvre.
– Deux (2) ans, pour la batterie Varta des aspirateurs-balais sans fil pièces et main-d'oeuvre.
– Sept (7) ans, pour le moteur VortexTM des aspirateurs-chariots, aspirateurs verticaux et aspirateurs-balais
sans fil, excepté pour les modèles d’aspirateurs verticaux S170-S189 dont le moteur est garanti deux (2)
ans pièces et main-d’œuvre.
d) Aspirateurs aux fins d’utilisation commerciale :
– Six (6) mois, pour les produits à utilisation commerciale. Pièce et main-d’œuvre.
– Un (1) an, pour le moteur des aspirateurs verticaux et des aspirateurs-traîneaux. Pièces et main-d’œuvre.
e) Appareils commerciaux.
– Un (1) an, pièces et main d’œuvre dans la zone de service direct Miele.
– Un (1) an, pièces uniquement dehors la zone de service direct Miele.

2. Date d’entrée en vigueur
La garantie entre en vigueur à la date de l'achat. En cas de remplacement par Miele d'un produit couvert par une
garantie, la période de garantie initiale n'est pas prolongée; sa date d'entrée en vigueur correspond à la date de
l'achat initial.
3. Conditions préalables liées à la garantie
3.1 Miele assume la responsabilité en vertu de la garantie à la condition que les conditions suivantes aient été
respectées :
a) vous êtes l'acheteur initial et votre produit ne provient pas d'une revente;
b) le produit a été acheté auprès de Miele ou auprès d'un détaillant Miele autorisé au Canada;
c) le cas échéant, le produit a été installé par une personne compétente, autorisée par Miele, conformément
aux instructions d'installation en vigueur;
d) le produit se trouve au Canada.
3.2 Les réclamations en vertu de la garantie seront honorées uniquement si la non-conformité aux dispositions
de la garantie est signalée par écrit et si le produit est retourné à Miele ou à un détaillant Miele autorisé
accompagné d'une preuve de la date d'achat, pendant la période prévue à l'article 1 ci-dessus.

4. Étendue de la garantie
En cas de matériaux défectueux ou de défaut de fabrication pendant la période prévue à l'article 1 ci-dessus, Miele
réparera ou, à son choix, remplacera dans un délai raisonnable le produit ou toute pièce ou tout accessoire Miele
dont la fabrication ou les matériaux sont défectueux. Les produits ou les pièces défectueux deviennent la propriété de
Miele lorsqu'ils sont remplacés.
5. Exclusions de la garantie
La garantie ne couvre pas les produits, y compris les pièces et les accessoires de ces produits, qui :
a) n'ont pas été installés conformément aux instructions d'installation de Miele;
b) ont été endommagés par négligence, à la suite d'un accident ou d'une utilisation mauvaise, inappropriée ou
anormale, ou encore en raison de l'entretien ou du transport inapproprié ou anormal;
c) contiennent des accessoires ou des pièces de rechange non fabriqués par Miele, y compris les filtres, les
sacs à poussière et tout autre produit non fabriqué par Miele;
d) ont été réparés, entretenus ou modifiés par une personne autre qu'une personne du centre de services ou un
technicien autorisé par Miele.
6. Usure normale
L'usure normale ne constitue pas un défaut de fabrication ni un défaut de matériaux.
7. Limitation de responsabilité
7.1 À moins d'acheter une garantie prolongée auprès de Miele avant l'échéance de la présente garantie, celle-ci
est la seule garantie que vous offre Miele. Miele se désiste de toute autre garantie maximale permise par la
loi, expresse ou implicite, y compris toute garantie de qualité marchande ou d'usage à une fin particulière, à
l'exception de la présente garantie.
7.2 Les recours décrits dans le présent document constituent vos seuls recours en vertu de la présente garantie. À
moins d'une autre mention, la responsabilité de Miele pour les dommages réels, quelle que soit leur nature, est
limitée au montant que vous avez payé pour le produit. Miele se dégage de toute responsabilité, de tout dommage
indirect ou de tout autre dommage, qu'il soit attribuable à la violation du contrat, à la responsabilité délictuelle (y
compris la négligence), à la responsabilité du fait du produit ou à toute autre théorie juridique. En aucun cas les deux
parties ne seront tenues responsables de toute perte de bénéfices ou d'économies, de dommage consécutif ou de
tout autre dommage financier.
8. Lois provinciales particulières
La présente garantie accorde à l'acheteur des droits légaux particuliers. L'acheteur peut également exercer d'autres
droits qui peuvent varier d'une province à l'autre au Canada. Certaines provinces interdisent la restriction ou l'exclusion
des garanties implicites. Par conséquent, il est possible que certaines restrictions et exclusions ne s'appliquent pas.

9.2 Si des travaux d'entretien sont nécessaires, l'appareil devra peut-être être déplacé par une personne
autorisée par Miele et emporté à un centre de services Miele autorisé. Si vous demandez un entretien et que
vous habitez une région éloignée, tel qu'il a été déterminé par Miele, à sa seule discrétion, à l'occasion, vous
devrez, selon le choix de Miele, assumer certains frais :
a) soit les frais de déplacement qu'engage Miele pour se présenter à votre lieu de résidence;
b) soit les frais de déplacement et d'envoi de l'appareil, de votre lieu de résidence au centre de services
Miele autorisé le plus près.
