Cleaning your Ice Maker
• Unplug the freezer and remove the ice bin.
• Wash the inside with a warm water and baking soda solution. The solution should consist of
about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water.
• Wash the ice bin with a mild detergent solution.
• The exterior of the ice maker, including the door and handle, should be cleaned with an
approved stainless steel cleaning product. Do not use steel wool or a steel brush on stainless
steel.
CAUTION: Failure to unplug the freezer before cleaning could result in electrical shock or personal
injury.
Defrosting
This appliance requires no manual defrosting. During the operation of the compressor, ice will build
up on the evaporator plate which is at the back of inner cabinet. During the compressor’s off-cycle,
the ice will melt, drip down, and collect in a tray above the compressor, where the compressor’s heat
evaporates the water. If you notice excessive icy build-up on the evaporator, try setting the
temperature slightly higher. Also, be sure that the door gasket is sealing well.
Shelves
The unit has several full-sized and one half-sized removable, chrome-plated wire shelves. To take
out a shelf, first remove its contents, then raise the back of the shelf slightly and pull the shelf out.
