Connections (fig. C & D)
The connectors for the On Wall loudspeakers ensure reliable and versatile contacts for stripped cables. The cable diameter
should not exceed 0
3/16
” (4mm).
It is imperative that you respect the polarity of the loudspeakers. The connector marked ‘+’ must be connected to the positive
output on the amplifier, and the connector marked ‘-’ must be connected to the negative terminal. Stereo image and bass
perception will be seriously compromised if these conditions are not respected. Choose good quality cables with a cross-
section appropriate for their length: your dealer will be able to advise you.
Installing the loudspeakers (fig. E & F)
The On Wall loudspeakers must be centred in relation to your screen. The tweeter (treble speaker driver) must be aligned with
the middle of your screen horizontally for the left and right loudspeakers, and vertically for the central loudspeaker (fig. F).
For optimal sound effects, the loudspeakers must be placed as close as possible to your loudspeaker. We recommend that
you place your central loudspeaker horizontally, below your screen. In the horizontal position, you can turn the logo the right
way up by rotating it. Position the logo vertically by turning it (fig. E).
Fixing to the wall (fig. G, H & I)
Stick the feet onto the back of the loudspeaker in the spaces provided in the four corners (fig. G).
Use the template to position the holes in the wall correctly. The template shows you where to drill the holes, in the vertical or
horizontal position (front/back). Before drilling, ensure that you hold the template at the correct level so that the loudspeaker
is in the correct vertical or horizontal position. Screws and wall plugs are not supplied. Only use wall plugs suitable for the
composition of your partition.
• As with any wall or ceiling mounting, installing the loudspeakers can involve risks and the methods of drilling
and mounting to walls, ceilings and other surface depend on the conditions and standards of construction,
refurbishment, safety and cabling in force and applicable to the brackets involved. For this reason, the relevant
drilling, mounting and installation operations must be performed by a qualified professional who is familiar with
the installation and safety standards.
Focal does not provide any end-of-use warranty for a given bracket or installation, as installing the loudspeakers is the
customer's sole responsibility.
Focal is therefore not liable in any capacity whatsoever in the event of unhooking, fall, accident and/or any other result or
damage of any kind related to the installation of loudspeakers.
Connect the cables to the loudspeaker, respecting the polarity (+/-), before hanging it on the wall.
Position the loudspeaker in front of the wall attachments. Attach the loudspeaker firmly to the brackets by applying pressure
to the top of them (fig. H & I). Ensure that both brackets are well attached.
Running-in period
The speaker drivers used in the On Wall loudspeakers are complex mechanical assemblies which need a break-in period to
operate at their best and to become acclimatised to the temperature and humidity of your environment. This break-in period
varies depending on the conditions in question and may take several weeks. To reduce this time, we recommend operating
your loudspeakers for about twenty consecutive hours. Once the loudspeaker’s characteristics have totally stabilised, you will
be able to enjoy the full potential of your On Wall loudspeakers.
Special precautions
To look after the On Wall loudspeakers, simply dust using a dry cloth. If the loudspeaker is marked, we recommend
that you use just a damp cloth. Never use solvents, detergents, alcohol or corrosive products, scrapers or scouring
utensils to clean the surface of the loudspeaker. Avoid positioning the loudspeakers near to any heat sources.
Choosing an amplifier
It is not an excess of amplifier power that can damage your loudspeakers and drivers, but rather a lack of power. In fact, if the
volume is too high, the amplifier saturates and generates parasite signals that may destroy the tweeter. The dynamic capacity
and definition of On Wall loudspeakers are high enough to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of whatever amplifier is
connected to them. Your dealer will be able to assist you in your choice according to your tastes and budget.
Conditions of warranty
All Focal loudspeakers are covered by warranty drawn up by the official Focal distributor in your country. Your distributor can
provide all details concerning the conditions of warranty. Warranty cover extends at least to that granted by the legal warranty
in force in the country where the original purchase invoice was issued.
