Allows you to defrost for a selected length of
time. See the Defrosting Guide for suggested
times. (Auto Defrost is explained in the Auto
Feature section.)
1. Press TIME DEFROST.
2. Enter defl'osting time.
3. Press START.
When the oven signals, turn fl)od over and
break apai_ or rearrange pieces fl)r more eve**
defl'osting. Shield any warm areas with small
pieces of till. The oven will continue to defl'ost
if you don't open the door and turn the fl)od.
Power level is automatically set at 3, bm can be
changed. You can defl'ost small items quickly
by raising the power level alter entering the
time. Power level 7 cuts the total defl'osting
time in about half; power level 10 cuts the total
time to approximately 1/3. Howevec ti)od will
need more fl'equent attention than usual.
A dull thumping noise may be beard during
defl'osting. Tiffs is normal when oven is not
operating at High power.
Defrosting Tips
* Foods fl'ozen in paper or plastic can be
defl'osted in the package. Closed packages
should be slit, pierced or vented AFTER
%o(1 has partially deKosted. Plastic storage
containers should be partially *recovered.
* FamilDsize, prepackaged fl'ozen dinners ca**
be deii'osted and microwaved. If the food is
in a till containec trans/br it to a microwave-
sate dish.

* For more eve** defl'osting of larger foods,
such as roasts, use Auto Defi'ost. Be sm'e
large meats are completely defl'osted bet)re
cooking.
* Foods that spoil easily should not be allowed
to sit out for more than one horn" aiter
defi'osting. Room temperature promotes
the growth of harmful bacteria.
*When defl'osted, food should be cool bm
sottened in all areas. If still slightly icy, return
to the microwave very briefly, or let it stand
a fl_w minutes.
