CheckEngineOil
Checkoil levelbeforeeachoperation.Besureoil levelismaintained.
1. Checkthe oil withtheenginestoppedandlevel.
2. Removethe oil fill dipstickandwipeit clean.
3. Insertandtightendipstick.Removeit to checkthe oil level.
4. If theoillevelis nearorbelowthe lowerlimit markonthedipstick,remove
theoilfiller cap/dipstick,andfill with therecommendedoil to the upper
limit mark.Donotoverfill.
5. Reinstalltheoilfill dipstick.
ChangeEngineOil
Gasolineand its vaporsare extremely flammable andexplosive.Fireor
explosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
Changeengineoilafterthefirstfivehoursofoperation,andeveryfifty hoursor
onceaseasonthereafter.
Whenyou drain the oil from the top oil fill tube, the fuel tank must be
empty orfuel canleak out andresult in afire or explosion.Toempty the
fuel tank, runthe engine until it stopsfrom lackof fuel.
1. Withengineoff butstill warm,disconnectthe sparkplugwire andkeepit
awayfromthesparkplug.
2. Placeasuitablecontainernextto theengineto catchtheusedoil.
3. Removethe oil fill dipstickanddraintheoilinto the containerbytippingthe
enginetowardtheoil filler neck.SeeFigure17.

Usedoil isa hazardouswaste product. Disposeof usedoil properly. Donot
discardwith householdwaste. Checkwith yourlocalauthoritiesor Sears
ServiceCenterfor safe disposal/recyclingfacilities.

engine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean.Keepareaaroundand
behindmufflerfreeof anycombustibledebris.
Keepingenginecleanallowsair movementaroundengine.
Enginepartsshouldbekeptcleanto reducethe riskof overheatingand
ignitionofaccumulateddebris.
