Pull the clutch lever all the way in when
pressing the start button.

start button if the transmission is in gear and
the clutch lever is not pulled.

Pressing the start button when the
transmission is in gear and the clutch
lever is not pulled in can cause the
vehicle to move suddenly, which can
cause serious injury or death.
Always pull the clutch lever in when
pressing the start button.
Cold Engine Starting

Shift the transmission to neutral.

If the temperature is 50 °F (10 °C) or below,
pull the fast idle knob fully up.

With the throttle completely closed, pull the
clutch lever all the way in and press the start
button.

About a minute after the engine starts, push
the fast idle knob back all the way to fully
off. If idling is unstable, open the throttle
slightly.
