#1 Cam i shorten the heater by cutting it off an putting a mew gas line

I do not see why you can't. There are table size heaters.

#2 Can you buy the table top separately?

No. The table comes with the whole heater.

#3 Can anyone tell me the size of the heat shield?

:It’s about 33+inches. That said it throws a heat cone that is much larger, about 10 ft. We love this product and recently bought a second one.

#4 What square footage will it heat comfortably to sit outside in the dead of winter?

If it is an unprotected outside area you will have to stand close to it to get sufficient heat depending on the temperature.

#5 The screws and washers are missing, what do i do?

The unit is too large to return. I would suggest contacting the company; I am sure they will be glad to send you the missing items.
