CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY --
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
A. MAINTENANCE SAFETY
1. Maintain the unit according to recom-
mended procedures.
2. Disconnect the spark plug before performln_
maintenance except for carburetor adjustments7
& .Make carburetor adjustments with the cut-
ring blade clear of any object.
4. Keep others away when making carburetor
adjustments_
5. Be sure blade stops turning when engine

6. Have your SEARS Service Center/Depart_
ment replace a cutting blade that is cracked,
ehipped, broken, or d_maged in any other
way before using unit.
7. Use only genuine SEARS replaeementparts
as recommendeeL

B. AIR FILTER
A dlrty air F_terdecreases life andperf0rm-

1. Cleau the air Filter:.
Always after G tanks of fuel or 5 hours of
operation, which ever is less.

Loosen the two screws on the air filter cover
enough to remove the cover from the en_ne.

e. Wash ffli_xinsoapandwater.
d. Squeezefilterdryandreinstall.
[CAUTION: IDo not clean the air filter in gaso-
line or other flammable solvent to avoid ere-
atiag a ftre hazard.
e. Reinstall the air filter cover. Figure 8.

1.LUBRICATING THE CUTTING BLADE
.Lubrication of the cutting blade _ter each use will
lengthen blade Lifeand mMce operation easier. To lu-
bricate the cuttin_ blade, do the fotlowiug:
Make sure the ignition switch is in the "STOP" po-
rtion and the blade has _mpped moving. Discon-
nec_ the spark plug.

cL Apply a light machine oil along the edge of the top
strap as shown inFigure9.
2. CLEANING

Do not allow wa_er or other Iiqulds to get into the trim-
mer housing, and never immerse any part of the unit
