TROUBLESHOOTING
You can solve many common problems easily, saving you the cost of a possible service call. Try the
suggestions below to see if you can solve the problem before calling the servicer.
Troubleshooting Guide
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
The unit does not operate.
Bad plug connection
Tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse
Reconnect the plug to the power
source.
Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
Abnormal operation of the
compressor, or a buzzing
sound
The supplied voltage is out of the
rated range.
Disconnect the power supply
immediately and reconnect it to an
acceptable voltage source. If the
power supply is erratic, you will need
a voltage stabilizer.
Compressor is on too long
and there is no frost on the
surface of the evaporator
Refrigerant circuit has a leak or
blockage.
Call for a qualified service technician.
Thermostat does not work.
Call our service department for repair
suggestions.
There is frost or ice on the
walls of the inner cabinet
and the internal
temperature is too low. The
compressor operates
continuously.
The thermostat sensor has separated
from the wall of the cabinet.
Tighten the screw of the sensor
cover.
Poor heat dissipation and ventilation
of condenser
Improve the ventilation.
Too much warm food was put in at
one time.
Take out some of the food.
The internal temperature is
too high and the
compressor operates
continuously.
Door was opened frequently or held
open too long.
Decrease frequency and length of
time of door opening.
The appliance is not level.
Level the appliance.
Pipes near the compressor are
touching.
Carefully separate the touching pipes.
Operation is too noisy.
The unit is too close to a wall or
cabinet.
Move the unit away from the adjacent
surface.
If the unit develops problems that cannot be solved by referring to the chart above, do
not try to dismantle the unit yourself. This could void your warranty. Instead, refer to
an authorized service center or call SUMMIT Customer Service at 1-800-932-4267.
