OPERATION
LED LIGHTS
See Figure 2, page i.
The LED lights around the anvil illuminate when either the
switch trigger is depressed.
If the tool is not in use, the time-out feature will cause the
light to start fading and then shut off.
The LEDs illuminate only when there is a charged battery
pack in the tool.
C3 ENERGY INDICATOR WINDOW
See Figure 3, page i.
The C3 energy indicator window located on the side of the
handle, just above the base, will light when a Craftsman
19.2 V lithium-ion battery pack with C3 light is installed
and has charge.
NOTE: Feature will not light with Craftsman 19.2 V nickel-
cadmium battery packs.
WARNING: Battery tools are always in operating
condition. Lock the switch when not in use
or carrying at your side, when installing or
removing the battery pack, and when installing
or removing sockets.
INSTALLING/REMOVING THE BATTERY PACK
See Figure 3, page i.
To install the battery pack:
Lock the switch trigger by placing the direction of
rotation selector in the center lock position.
Align the raised rib on the battery pack with the groove
inside the impact driver.
Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack
snap into place and the battery pack is secured before
beginning operation.
To remove the battery pack:
Lock the switch trigger and depress the latches on the
sides of the battery pack.
For complete charging instructions, see the operator’s
manuals for your battery pack and charger.
INSTALLING/REMOVING SOCKETS
See Figure 4, page i.
Use only sockets designed for impact wrenches. Always
select the correct size impact socket for nuts and bolts.
NOTICE: Using the wrong size socket may damage
the nut or bolt and cause the fastening torque to be
inaccurate or inconsistent.
Remove the battery pack from the tool.
Push the socket onto the anvil until it clicks into place.
To remove the socket, pull it away from the anvil.
OPERATING THE IMPACT WRENCH
See Figures 5 - 6, page i.
Proper fastening torque may be determined by the kind
of bolt, the size of the bolt, the material, or the workpiece.
It is helpful to perform a test operation to determine the
proper fastening time for the nut or bolt you are using.
While performing the test, make note of the speed
selection.
Slide the socket over the nut or bolt.
Depress the switch and fasten for the proper fastening
time.
Remove the impact wrench from the nut or bolt.
Check the torque with a torque wrench.
NOTICE: Do not use this tool to install lug nuts on
wheels without a torque limiting device. Doing so
could result in galled or broken lugs.
IMPACT TIME
The optimum impact time is approximately 6 seconds.
Using a universal joint or extension bar may reduce the
fastening force of the impact wrench and require longer
fastening time.
NOTICE: After the head of a nut or bolt has seated,
additional impacting will increase the chance of
shearing bolts, nuts, sockets or tearing into wood.
