Installation
Your filter should be located in a dry, level area and protected from freezing
temperatures and direct sunlight.
1. Turn off the water supply to your house before beginning the installation.
2. Turn off the electricity to your water heater before beginning the installation.
3. Open all plumbing fixtures in the house to release the lines of pressure.
4. The filter should be placed on the main water supply line at any point past the main
shutoff valve for the whole house, but before pipes branch off in multiple directions.
However, you may choose to locate the filter on an individual line that branches off
depending on your filtration intent.
5. Measure, cut, and remove the section of water line where the system is to be installed.
When determining the length of pipe to cut, account for filter width, shut off valves, union
fittings, nipple fittings, pressure gauges (if used) and bypass valve (if used).
6. Allow the cut line to drain. Smooth the newly cut ends down to avoid jagged points or
edges.
7. Place a shutoff valve and/or a pressure gauge on either side of the filter for ease of
monitoring and ease of service.
8. Securely mount the whole house filter using supplied mounting bracket. Ensure the
system is level.
9. You may need to adjust pipe length or distance. Fit a pipe union onto the cut sections of
the main water line.
10. Fit together the pipe unions and shut off valve(s). Use Teflon tape or plumbing sealant
on the threaded male fittings.
11. Simultaneously fit together the shut off valve and whole house filter using a pipe nipple
or hex nipple to draw them together on the INLET side of the filter.
12. Fit a pipe hanger on the INLET side for additional support.
13. Simultaneously fit together the filter and the shut off valve on the OUTLET side of the
filter. Fit a pipe union to the shut off valve on the OUTLET side.
14. Check the pipe length and pipe union length to see if additional pipe length or union
length is required.
15. Join the pipe union and pipe.
16. Fit a pipe hanger on the OUTLET side for additional support.
17. Connect ground jumper cable (if necessary).
Turning the water back on
Turn your water back on slowly. After a few minutes, the sound of water entering the system will
stop. After the unit is installed, it is necessary to flush the unit thoroughly. Do this at the nearest
COLD water faucet. DO NOT USE A HOT WATER FAUCET TO PERFORM THE INITIAL
SYSTEM FLUSH. The water will be blackish in color for the initial flush. This is residual carbon
dust and is to be expected. Continue to run water until it runs clear and all air has been purged.
Shut the water off and let the unit sit for a while, and then flush again. It is not unusual for the
water to appear "cloudy" for a couple days following the installation. This cloudiness is caused
by tiny air bubbles being purged from the filters. This is normal and will clear up.
