LIMITED TWO YEAR WARRANTY ON CRAFTSMAN POWER MOWER

For two years from date of purchase, when this Craftsman Lawn Mower is maintained,

lubricated, and tuned up according to the operating and maintenance instructions in the

owner's manual, Sears will repair free of charge any defect in material or workmanship.

If this Craftsman Lawn Mower is used for commercial or rental purposes, this warranty

applies for only 90 days from the date of purchase.

This Warranty does not cover:

• Expendable items which become worn during normal use, such as rotary mower

blades, blade adapters, belts, air cleaners and spark plug.

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse or negligence, including bent crank.

Warranty service is available by returning the craftsman power mower to the nearest

sears service center/department in the united states. This warranty applies only while

TRAINING:

° Read this operator's manual carefully.

Become familiar with the controls and

know how to operate your mower

properly. Learn how to quickly stop

mower.

o Do not allow children to use your mower.

Never allow adults to use mower without

proper instructions.

• Keep the area of operation clear of all

persons, especially small children and

pets.

° Use mower only as the manufacturer

intended and as described in this manual.

° Do not operate mower if it has been

dropped or damaged in any manner.

Always have damage repaired before

using your mower.

= Do not use accessory attachments that

are not recommended by the manufac-

turer. Use of such attachments may be

hazardous.

° The blade tums when the engine is

running.

PREPARATION:

° Always thoroughly check the area to be

mowed and clear it of all stones, sticks,

wires, bones, and other foreign objects.

These objects will be thrown by the blade

and can cause severe injury.

• Always wear safety glasses or eye

shields when starting and while using

your mower.

= Dress properly. Do not operate mower

when barefoot or wearing open sandals.

Wear only solid shoes with good traction

when mowing.

° Check fuel tank before starting engine.

Do not fill gas tank indoors, when the

engine is running or when the engine is

OPERATION:

° Keep your eyes and mind on your mower

and the area being cut. Do not let other

interests distract you.

° Do not mow wet or slippery grass. Never

run while operating your mower. Always

be sure of your footing -- keep a firm

hold on the handles and walk.

o Do not put hands or feet near or under

rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge

opening at all times.

o Always stop the engine whenever you

leave or are not using your mower, or

before crossing driveways, walks, roads,

and any gravel---covered areas.

° Never direct discharge of material toward

bystanders nor allow anyone near the

mower while you are operating it.

° Before cleaning, inspecting, or repairing

your mower, stop the engine and make

absolutely sure the blade and all moving

parts have stopped. Then disconnect the

spark plug wire and keep it away from the

spark plug to prevent accidental starting.

= Do not continue to run your mower if you

hit a foreign object. Follow the procedure

outlined above, then repair any damage

before restarting and operating you

mower.

= Do not change the govemor settings or

overspeed the engine. Engine damage or

personal injury may result.

• Do not operate your mower if it vibrates

abnormally. Excessive vibration is an

indication of damage; stop the engine,

safely check for the cause of vibration

and repair as required.

• Do not run the engine indoors. Exhaust

fumes are dangerous.

° Never cut grass by pulling the mower

towards you. Mow across the face of

slopes, never up and down or you might

lose your footing. Do not mow exces- '

sively steep slopes. Use caution when

operating the mower on uneven terrain or

when changing directions -- maintain

good footing°

• Never operate your mower without

proper guards, plates, grass catcher or

other safety devices in place.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE:

° Check the blade and the engine mount-

ing bolts often to be sure they are

tightened properly.

= Check all bolts, nuts and screws at

frequent intervals for proper tightness to

be sure mower is in safe working

condition.

° Keep all safety devices in place and

working.

• To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine

free of grass, leaves or excessive grease

and oilo

= Check grass catcher often for deteriora-

tion and wear and replace worn bags.

Use only replacement bags that are

recommended by and comply with

specifications of the manufacturer of your

mower.

• Always keep a sharp blade on your

mower.

• Allow engine to cool before storing in any

enclosure.

° Never store mower with fuel in the tank

inside a building where fumes may reach

an open flame or an ignition source such

as a hot water heater, space heater,

clothes dryer, etc°

CAUTION: Always disconnect spark plug

wire and place wire where it cannot

contact spark plug in order to prevent

accidental starting when setting up,

transporting, adjusting or making repairs.

IMPORTANT: This cutting machine is

capable of amputating hands and feet and

throwing objects. Failure to observe the

following safety instructions could result in

serious injury or death.

Safety standards require operator pres-

ence controls to minimize the risk of injury.

Your unit is equipped with such controls.

Do not attempt to defeat the function of the

operator presence controls under any

circumstances.

Read these instructions and this manual in

its entirety before you attempt to assemble

or operate your new lawn mower. Your new

lawn mower has been assembled at the

factory with the exception of those parts left

unassembled for shipping purposes. All

parts such as nuts, washers, bolts, etc.,

necessary to complete the assembly have

been placed in the parts bag. To ensure

safe and proper operation of your lawn

mower, all parts and hardware you as-

semble must be tightened securely. Use the

correct tools as necessary to ensure proper

tightness.

TO REMOVE LAWN MOWER FROM

CARTON

Remove loose parts included with

mower.

= Cut down two end corners of carton

and lay end panel down flat.

° Remove all packing materials except

padding between upper and lower

handle and padding holding operator

presence control barto upper handle.

° Roll lawn mower out of carton and

checkcarton thoroughly for addit!onal

loose parts.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR LAWN

MOWER

TO UNFOLD HANDLE

IMPORTANT: Unfold handles carefully so

as not to pinch or damage control cables.

• Raise handles until lower handle section

locks into place in mowing position.

• Remove protective padding, raise upper

handle section into place on lower

handles and tighten both handle knobs.

o Your lawn mower handle can be

adjusted for your mowing comfort. Refer

to "Adjust Handle" in the Service and

Adjustment section of this manual,

TO INSTALL ATTACHMENTS

Your lawn mower was shipped ready to be

used as a mulcher. To convert to bagging

or discharging:

• Open rear door and remove mulcher

plug. Store mulcher plug in a safe place_

• You can now install catcher or optional

clipping deflector.

° To return to mulching operation, install

mulcher plug into discharge opening of

mower, __._

HOW TO USE YOUR LAWN MOWER

ENGINE SPEED CONTROL

The engine speed was set at the factory

for optimum performance. Speed is not

adjustable.

ENGINE ZONE CONTROL

CAUTION: Federal regulationsrequire

an engine control to be installed on this

lawn mower in order to minimize the risk

of blade contact injury. Do not under any

circumstances attempt to defeat the

function of the operator control. The blade

tums when the engine is running.

° Your lawn mower is equipped with an

operator presence control bar which

requires the operator to be positioned

behind the lawn mower handle to start and

operate the lawn mower.

TO ADJUST CUTTING HEIGHT

° Raise wheels for low cut and lower wheels

for high cut.

• Adjust cutting height to suit your require-

ments. Medium position is best for most

lawns.

° To change cutting height, squeeze adjuster

lever toward wheel. Move wheel up or down

to suit your requirements. Be sure allwheels

are inthe same setting.

NOTE: Adjuster is properly positioned when

plate tab inserts into hole in lever. Also, 9-

position adjusters (if so equipped) allow lever

to be positioned between the plate tabs,

TO ATTACH GRASS CATCHER

. Close the flip lid. Fliplid must be closed

while operating lawn mower,

° Lift the rear door on the mower housing and

place the grass catcher frame onto the

formed tabs on the rear door hinge bracket,

• The grass catcher is secured to the lawn

mower housing when the rear door is

lowered onto the grass catcher frame.

CAUTION: Do not run your lawn mower

without dipping deflector or approved grass

catcher in place, Never attempt to operate the

lawn mower with the rear door removed or

propped open.

TO EMPTY GRASS CATCHER

• To remove grass catcher, release operator

presence control bar to stop engine,

° Lift up rear door and remove the grass

catcher by the handle.

NOTE: Do not drag the bag when emptying;

itwilt cause unnecessary wear,

DRWE CONTROL

• Self-propelling is controlled by holding the

operator presence control bar down to the

handle and pushing the drive control lever

forward until it clicks; then release the lever.

• Forward motion will stop when the operator

presence control bar is released, To stop

forward motion without stopping engine,

release the operator presence control bar

slightly until the drivecontrol disengages,

Hold operator presence control bar down to

handle to continue mowing without self-

propelling.

• To keep drive control engaged when turning

comers, push down on handle and lift front

wheels off ground while tuminglawn

mower.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

OIL

Your lawn mower is shipped without oil inthe

engine.

• Be sure mower is level and area around oil

fill is clean.

• Remove engine oil cap w/dipstick and fill to

the full line on the dipstick_

• Use 27 ozsoof oil. Fortype and grade of oil

to use, see "ENGINE" in Customer

Responsibilities section of this manual.

• Pour oil slowly. Do not over fillo

• Check oil level before each use. Add oil if

needed. Fill to full line on dipstick.

o "1"oread proper level, tighten engine oil cap

each time.

• Reinstall engine oil cap and tighten.

o Change the oil after every 25 hours of

operation or each season. You may need

to change the oil more often under dusty,

dirty conditions.

GAS

° Fill fuel tank. Use fresh, clean, regular

unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87

octane° Do not mix oil with gasoline.

Purchase fuel in quantities that can be used

within 30 days to assure fue! freshness.

WARNING: Experience indicates that

alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or

usingethanol or methanol) can attract

moisture which leads to separationand

formation of acids during storage.Acidic

gas can damage the fuel system of an

engine while in storage. To avoid engine

problems,the fuel systemshould be

emptied before storage of 30 days or

longer. Drain the fuel tank, start the engine

and let it run until fuel lines and carburetor

are empty.Use freshfuel next season.

See Storage instructions for additional

information. Never use engine or carbure-

tor cleaner productsin fuel tank or

permanent damage may occur.

TO START ENGINE

• To start a cold engine, push p_imer five (5)

times before trying to start. Use a firm push.

This step is not usually necessary when

starling an engine which has already run for

a few minutes.

° Hold operator presence control bar down to

.the handle and pull starter handle quickly.

Do not allow starter rope to snap back.

• To stop engine, release operator presence

control bar.

NOTE: In cooler weather itmay be necessary

to repeat priming steps. In warmer weather

over priming may cause flooding and engine

will not start. If you do flood engine, wait a few

minutes before attempting to start and do not

repeat priming steps.

° Under certain conditions, such as very tall

grass, it may be necessary to raise the

height of cut to reduce pushing effort and to

keep from overloading the engine and

leaving clumps of grass clippings.

° For extremely heavy cutting, reduce the

width of cut and raise the rear of the lawn

mower housing one (1) wheel adjuster

setting higher than the front for better

discharge of grass.

• For better grass bagging and most cutting

conditions, the engine speed should be set

in the fast position.

o When using a rear discharge lawn mower in

moist, heavy grass, clumps of cut grass

may not enter the grass catcher. Reduce

ground speed (pushing speed) and/or run

the lawn mower over the area a second

time.

• If a trail of grass clippings is left on the right

side of a rear discharge lawn mower, mow

in a clockwise direction with a small overlap

to collect the clippings on the next pass.

° Keep top of engine around starter clear and

clean of grass clippings and chaff. This will

help engine air flow and extend engine life.

° Pores in cloth grass catchers can become

filledwithdirtanddustwithuseand

catcherswillcollect less grass. To prevent

this, regularly hose catchers off with water

and let dry before using.

MULCHING MOWING TIPS

IMPORTANT; For best performance, keep

mower housing free of built-up grass and trash.

Clean UNDERSIDE OF MOWER HOUSING

after each use. See "Cleaning" in CUSTOMER

RESPONSIBILITIES section of this manual.

o The special mulching blade will recur the

grass clippingsmany times and reduce

them insize so that as they fall ontothe

lawnthey willdisperse intothe grass and

not be noticed, Also, the mulched grass will

biodegrade quicklyto providenutrientsfor

the lawn. Always mulchwith your highest

engine (blade) speed as thiswillprovidethe

best recuttingaction ofthe blades=

• Avoid cbltingyour lawn when itiswet, Wet

grass tends to form clumps and interferes

with the mulchingaction, The best time to

mow your lawn isthe early afternoon.At this

time the grass has driedand the newly cut

area will not be exposed to thedirectsun.

° For best results, adjust the lawn mower

cutting height so that the lawn mower cuts

off only the top one-third of the grass blades.

if the lawn is overgrown it will be necessary

to raise the height of cut to reduce pushing

effort and to keep from overloading the

engine and leaving clumps of mulched

grass. For extremely heavy mulching,

reduce your width of cut, mow slowly and

raise the rear of the lawn mower one wheel

adjuster setting higher than the front.

° Certain types of grass and grass conditions

may require that an area be mulched a

second time to completely hide the

clippings. When doing a second cut, mow

across or perpendicular to the first cut path.

° Change your cutting pattem from week to

week_Mow north to south one week then

change to east to west the next week_ This

wilt help prevent matting and graining of the

lawn.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

The warranty onthis lawn mower does not

cover itemsthathave been subjected to

operatorabuse or negligence,Toreceive full

Some adjustments wilt need to be made /_

periodically to properly maintain your unit.

All adjustments in the Service and

Adjustments section of this manual should be

checked at least once each season.

o Once,a year, replace the spark plug, replace

air filter element and check blade for wear. A

new spark plug and clean/new air filter

element assures proper air-fuel mixture and

helps your engine runbetter and last longer.

wheel bearings° Viscous lubricants will attract

dust and dirt that will shorten the life of the self

lubricating bearings. If you feel they must be

lubricated, use only a dry, powdered graphite

type lubricant sparingly.

TIRES

o Keep tiresfree of gasoline, oil, or insect

control chemicals which can harm rubber.

o Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharp

NOTE: Remove the blade adapter and

check the key inside hub of blade adapter°

The key must be in good condition to work

BLADE CARE

For best results, mower blade must be kept

sharp, Replace bent or damaged blades.

TO REMOVE BLADE

o Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug

and place wire where it cannot come in

contact with spark plug.

o Tum lawn mower on its side. Make sure air

filter and carburetor are up.

° Use a wood block between blade and

mower housing to prevent blade from

tuming when removing blade belt.

° Protect your hands with gloves and/or wrap

o Position the blade adapter on the engine

crankshaft° Be sure key in adapter and

keyway in crankshaft are aligned,

o Position blade on the blade adapter

aligning the two (2) holes in the blade with

the raised lugs on the adapter.

o Be sure the trailing edge is up toward the

engine°

. Install the blade bolt with the lock washer

and hardened washer into blade adapter

and crankshaft.

° Use block of wood between blade and

lawn mower housing and tighten the blade

bolt, tuming clockwise.

. The recommended tightening torque is 35-

40ft. Ibs.

IMPORTANT. Blade bolt is grade 8 heat

treated.

clockwise. Use a 9/16" box or open-end

wrench,

TO SHARPEN BLADE

Care should be taken to keep the blade

balanced. An unbalanced blade willcause

eventual damage to lawnmower orengine.

• The blade can be sharpened witha file or

on a grindingwheel. Do not attempt to

sharpen while on the mower.

• To check blade balance, drive a nail intoa

beam or wall. Leave about one inchof the

straight nailexposed. Place center hole of

blade overthe head ofthe nail. Ifblade is

balanced, itshould remain ina horizontal

position, tfeither end of theblade moves

downward, sharpen the heavy end until the

blade isbalanced°

GRASS CATCHER

. The grasscatcher may be hosed with

water, but must be dry when used.

° Check your grass catcheroften for damage

or deterioration. Throughnormal use itwill

wear. Ifcatcher needs replacing,replace

onlywith a manufacturer approved

replacement catcher.Give the lawn mower

model number when ordering.

GRASS CATCHER

• The grass catcher may be hosed with

water, but must be dry when used.

• Check your grass catcher often for

damage or deterioration. Through

normal use it will wear. If catcher needs

replacing, replace only with a manufac-

turer approved replacement catcher.

DRIVE WHEELS

Check front drive wheels each time before

you mow to be sure they move freely.

The wheels not turning freely means trash,

grass cuttings, etc. are in the drive wheel

° Put wheels back in place.

° If after cleaning, the drive wheels do not

turn freely, contact your nearest

authorized service center,

GEAR CASE

° To keep your drive system working

properly, the gear case and area around

the drive should be kept clean and free

of trash build--up. Clean under the drive

cover twice a season.

° The gear case is filled with lubricant to

the proper level at the factory° The only

time the lubricant needs attention is if

service has been performed on the gear

case.

o If lubricant is required, use only Texaco

Starplex Premium 1 Grease, Part No.

750355° Do not substitute.

ENGINE

LUBRICATION

Use only high quality detergent oil rated

with API service classification SF, SH or

SG. Select the oil's SAE viscosity grade

according to your expected operating

temperature.

NOTE: Although multi--viscosity oils

(5W30, 10W30 etc.) improve starting in

cold weather, these multi--viscosity oils

will result in increased oil consumption

when used above 32°F. Check your

engine oil level more frequently to avoid

possible engine damage from running low

on oil.

Change the oil after every 25 hours of opera-

tion or at least once a year ifthe lawn mower

is not used for 25 hours in one year.

TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL

NOTE: Before tipping lawn mower to drain

oil, drain fuel tank by running engine until

fuel tank is empty.

o Disconnect spark plug wire from spark

plug and place wire where it cannot

come in contact with spark plug.

o Remove engine oil cap; lay aside on a

clean surface°

° Tip lawn mower on its side and drain oil

into a suitable container. Rock lawn

mower back and forth to remove any oil

trapped inside of engine.

o Wipe off any spilled oil on lawn mower

and on side of engine°

• Fill engine with oil. Fill only to the "FULL"

line on the dipstick. DO NOT OVER

FILL.

= Replace engine oil cap.

° Reconnect spark plug wire to spark

plug.

Replace the air filter every year, more often

ifyou mow invery dusty, dirt,/conditions. Do

not wash air filter.

TO CHANGE AIR FILTER

= Loosen cover screw.

o Swing cover down and remove from hinge.

o Pull paper filter out of air cleaner body.

o Clean air cleaner cover and body.

° Install a new paper filter,

• Reinstall cover to air cleaner body, Be sure

hinge is assembled properly.

° Swing cover up and tighten cover screw.

(Do not overtighten).

SPARK PLUG

Change your spark plug each year to make

your engine start easier and run better. Set

spark plug gap at .030 inch.

CLEANING

IMPORTANT: For best performance, keep

mower housing free of built--4Jp grass and

trash, Clean underside of mower housing after

each use.

CAUTION: Disconnect spark plug wire from

spark plug and place wire where itcannot

come in contact with the spark plug.

° Turn lawn mower on its side. Make sure air

filter and carburetor are up, Clean the

underside of your lawn mower by scraping

to remove build--up of grass and trash.

o Clean engine often to keep trash from

accumulating. A clogged engine runs hotter

and shortens engine life.

o Keep finished surfaces and wheels free of

all gasoline, oil, etc.

o We DO NOT recommend using a garden

hose to clean lawn mower unless the

electrical system, muffler, air filterand

carburetor are covered to keep water out.

Water in engine can result in shortened

engine life.

CLEAN UNDER DRIVE COVER

Clean under drive cover at least twice a

season° Scrape underSideof cover withputty

knife or similar toolto remove any build--up of

REAR DEFLECTOR

The rear deflector, attached between the

rear wheels of your lawn mower, is

provided to minimize the possibility that

objects will be thrown out the rear of the

lawn mower into the operator's mowing

position.

If the rear deflector becomes damaged, it

should be replaced.

TO REMOVE/REPLACE DRIVE BELT

• Remove drive cover. Remove belt by

pushing down on gear case pulley and

rolling belt off it.

= Turn lawn mower on its side with

carburetor and fuel cap up.

• Remove blade.

= Remove debris shield.

° Remove belt from engine pulley on

crankshaft.

° Install new belt by reversing above

steps.

• Always use factory approved belt to

assure fit and long life.

the hairpin cotters that have been

bar must pivot freely to permit blade brake

engagement when control bar is released.

Do not over tighten the fasteners holding

the controls to the upper handle.

Your lawn mower handle can be raised or

lowered for your mowing comfort. Four (4)

positions are available: high, medium high,

medium low and low. Handles are shipped

mounted in the medium low position.

CARBURETOR

Your carburetor has a non-adjustable fixed

main jet for mixture control. If your engine

does not operate properly due to sus-

pected carburetor problems, take your

lawn mower to an authorized service

center for repair or adjustment.

ENGINE SPEED

Your engine speed has been factory set.

Do not attempt to increase engine speed

or it may result in personal injury. Ifyou

believe that the engine is running too fast

or too slow, take your lawn mower to an

authorized service center for repair and

adjustment°

Immediately prepare your lawn mower for

storage at the end of the season or ifthe unit

will not be used for 30 days or more. .

LAWN MOWER

When lawn mower is to be stored for a period

of time, clean ffthoroughly, remove all dirt,

grease, leaves, etc. Store ina clean, dry area.

• Clean entire lawn mower (See "CLEANING"

in the Customer Responsibilities section of

this manual).

o Lubricate as shown in the Customer

Responsibilities section of this manual.

. Be sure that all nuts, bolts, screws, and pins

are securely fastened. Inspect moving

parts for damage, breakage and wear.

Replace if necessary.

° Touch up all rusted or chipped paint

surfaces; sand lightly before painting_

You canfold your lawn mower handle for

storage.

• Squeeze the bottom ends of the lower

handle toward each other until the lower

handle clears the handle bracket, then

move handle forward.

° Loosen upper handle mounting belts

enough to allow upper handle to be folded

back.

IMPORTANT: When folding the handle for

storage or transportation, be sure to fold the

handle as shown or you may damage the

control cables.

° When setting up your handle from the

storage position, the lower handle will

automatically lock into the mowing position.

IMPORTANT: It isimportant to prevent bum

deposits from forming inessential juel system

parts such as carburetor, fuel filter,fuel hose,

or tank during storabe. Also, experience

indicates that alcolol blinded fuels (called

gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can

attract moisture which leads to separation and

formation of acids during storage. Acidic gas

can damage the fuel system of an engine

while in storage.

• Drain the fuel tank.

o Start the engine and let it run until the fuel

lines and carburetor are empty.

o Never use engine or carburetor cleaner

products in the fuel tank or permanent

damage may occur_

• Use fresh fuel next season.

NOTE; Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable

alternative in minimizing the formation of fuel

gum deposits during storage. Add stabilizer to

gasoline in fuel tank or storage container.

Always follow the mixratio found on stabilizer

container. Run engine at least 10 minutes

after adding stabilizer to allow the stabilizer to

reach the carburetor. Do not drain the gas

tank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (withengine warm) and replace with

clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" in the

Customer Responsibilities section of this

manual).

CYLINDER

Remove spark plug.

Pour one ounce (29 ml) of oil through spark

plug hole intocylinder.

• Pull starter handle slowly a few times to

distribute oil.

• Replace with new spark plug.

OTHER

• Do not store gasoline from one season to

another.

o Replace your gasoline can if your can starts

to rust. Rust and/or dirt in your gasoline will

cause problems.

= If possible, store your unit indoorsand cover

itto give protection from dust and dirt.

° Cover your unit with a suitable protective

cover that does not retain moisture. Do not

use plastic. Plastic cannot breathe which

allows condensation to form and will cause

your unit to rust.

iMPORTANT: Never cover mower while

engine and exhaust areas are still warrn.

CAUTION: Never store the tawn mower with

gasoline in the tank inside a building where

fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

Allow the engine to cool before storing in any

enclosure.

• Levante los mangos hasta que la secci6n del

mango inferior se asegure en su lugar, en la

posici6n para segaro

• Remueva la cuSa protector& levante la secci6n

del mango superior hasta su lugar en el mango

inferior y apriete ambas manillas del mango..

• Remueva lacuSa del mango que sujeta la barra

de los control que exige la presencia del

operadorjunto con el mango superior.

° El mango de la segadora puede ajustarse segL_n

PARA INSTALAR LOS ACCESORIOS

Su segadora rue enviada lista para usarse como

una acolchadora de capa vegetal. Para converlJrla

de modo que pueda ensacar o descargar:

• Abra la puerta trasera y remueva la tapon

acolchadorao Gu_rdela en un iugar seguro.

• Ahora puede instalar el recogedor o el desviador

de recortes opcionaL

• Para volver a la operaci6n de acolchamiento con

capa vegetal, instale la tapon acolchadora en la

abertura de deecarga de la segadorao

PRECAUCl6N: No haga funcionar su

COMO USAR SU SEGADORA

CONTROL DE LA VELOCIDAD DEL

MOTOR

La velocidad del motor se estabteci6 en la

f_tbrica para un rendimiento 6ptimo.. La

velocidad no se puede ajustar.

CONTROL DE ZONA DEL MOTOR

PRECAUCI(_N: Las regutaciones federales exigen

que se instale un control para el motor en esta

segadora para reducir a un mfnimo el riesgo de

lesionarse debido al contacto con la cuchilla Por

ningt3n morro Irate de eliminar la funciOn del control

del operador. La cuchilla gira cuando el motor est_

fundonando,

- Su segadora viene equipada con una barra de

control que exige la presencia del operador, Io

que requiere que el operador est_ detr&s del

mango de la segadora para hacerla arrancar y

operarla.

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE

• Levante las ruedas para el corte bajo y baje las

ruedas para el corte alto.

- Ajuste la altura de corte para que se acomode a

sus requisitos. La posici6n del medio es la mejor

para la mayofia de los c6spede&

• Para cambiar la altura de corte, empuje la

palanca del ajustador hacia la rued& Mueva la

nJeda hacia arriba o hacia abajo de modo que se

acornode a sus requisitos. Asegt_rese que todas

las ruedas queden igualmente ajustadaso

ATENClQN: El ajustador esta correctamente

colocado cuando las orejas de la placa est_

insertadas en el agujero del mango. Tambi6n, los

ajustes de 9 posiciones (si equipado) permiten que

el mango pueda ser movido en#e las orejas de la

placa.

• Levante la puerta de arras y remova el recogedor

del c_sped por el mango.

AVISO: No arrastre la bolsa cuando la vacfe; se

producir&un desgaste innecesario.

CONTROL DE LA IMPULSI6N

- La autoimpulsi6n se controla al sujetar la

barra de control que exige la presencia del

operador hacia abajo en el mango y al

empujar la palanca de control de la impulsi6n

hacia adelante hasta que suene "clic," luego

se suelta la palanca_

• El movimiento hacia adelante parar& cuando

la barra de control que exige la presencia del

operador se suelta. Para parar et movimiento

hacia adelante sin parar el motor, suelte la

barra de control que exige la presencia del

operador un poco hasta que se desenganche

el control de la impulsi6n. Sujete la barra de

control que exige la presencia del operador

abajo en contra del mango para continuar

segando sin autoimputsk_n.

o Para mantener el control de la impulsi6n

enganchado cuando se de vuelta en tas

esquinas, empuje el mango hacia abajo y

levante las ruedas delanteras fuera del suelo

al girar la segadora.

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL

MOTOR

ACEITE

Su segadora fue enviada sin aceite en el motor,

. AsegL]rese que la segadora est_ nivelada y que

el &rea alrededor del depSsito de aceite est_

limpia.

= Remueva tatapa del depSsito de aceite del

motor con la varilla indicadora de nivel y reliene

hasta la Ifnea de ileno en 6sta.

• Use 0,61 (27 oz.) de aceite. Para el tipo y la

calidad vea "MOTOR" en la secci6n de las

"Responsabilidades del Ctiente" en este manual°

• Vac[e el aceite lentamente. No lo Ilene

demasiado.

. Revise el nivel del aceite antes de cada uso.

Agregue aceite si es necesarioo Uene hasta la

I[nea de Ileno en la varilla indicadora de nivel.

• Para leer el nivel adecuado, apriete la tapa de!

depSs*rtode aceite del motor cada vez.

° Vuelva a instalar la tapa del depSsito del aceite y

apd_tel&

• Cambie el aceite despu_s de 25 horas de

operaciSn o una vez por temporada. Puede

necesitar cambiar el aceite m_s a menudo

cuando las condiciones son polvorosas o Sucias.

GASOUNA

• Uene el estanque de combustible. Use gasolina

regular, sin plomo, nueva y limpia con el mfnimo

de 87 octanos, No mezcle el aceite con la

gasolina. Para asegurar que la gasolina L_lizada

sea fresca compre estanques los cuales puedan

ser utilizadce durante los pdmeros 30 dias.

ADVERTENClA: La experiencia ha indicadoque

los combustibles mezclados con alcohol (conocidos

como gasohol, o el uso de etanol o metanol)

pueden atmer la humedad, la que conduce a ta

separaciSn yformadSn de _.cidosdurante el

atmacenamiento. La gasolina acfdica puede daSar

el sistema det combustible de un motor durante el

almacenamiento. Para evitar los problemas con el

motor, se debe vaciar el sisterna del combustible

antes de guardarlo por un per[odo de 30 d[as o

_. Vacfe el estanque de!combustible, haga

arrancar el motor y h_galo funcionar hasta que las

Ifneas del combustible y el carburador queden

vacios. La prSxima temporada use combustible

nuevo. Vea las Instn_cciones Para El

Almacenamlento para m&s informaci6n. Nunca use

productos de limpieza para el motor o para el

carburador en el estanque del combustible pues se

pueden producir daSos permanentes.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR

• Para hacer arrancar un motor frio, empuje el

cebador cinco (5) veces antes de tratado. Use un

empuje firmemente. Este paso normalmente no

es necesario cuando se hace arrancar un motor

que ya ha estado funcionando por unos cuantos

minutos.

• Sujete la barra de control que exige la presencia

del operador abajo en el mango y tire el mango

del arrancador r&pidamente_ No permita que el

cordSn del arrancador se devuelva

abruptamente.

. Para parar el motor, suelte la barra de control

que exige la presencia def operador.

AVISO: En climas m_s fries puede que sea

necesario repetir los pasos del cebado° En climas

m=&scalurosos el cebar demasiado puede producir

el ahogo y el motor no va a arrancar. Si se ahoga el

motor espere unos cuantos minutos antes de tratar

de haceflo arrancar y no repita los pasos del

cebado.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR

o Bajo ciertas condiciones, tal come c6sped muy

afro, puede set necesarb el elevar la attura del

corte para reducir el esfuerzo necesario para

empujar la segadora y para evitar sobrecargar el

motor, dejando rnontones de recortes de c6sped.

o Para un corte muy pesado, reduzca el ancho del

corte pasando parcialmente per encima del lugar

antefiormente cortado y siegue lentamente.

o Para un mejor ensacado del c6sped y para la

mayoria de las condicienes de corte, la velocidad

del motor debe ajustarse a la posici6n de rApidoo

• Cuande use una segadora con descarga trasera

en c6sped ht_medoy pesado, los montones del

c6sped cortado puede que no entren en el

recogedor de c6sped. Reduzca la velocidad del

recorrido (velocidad de empuje) y!o haga

funcionar la segadora sobre el&rea per segunda

vezo

• Si queda una huelfa de cortes en el lade derecho

de una segadora con descarga trasera, siegue

en la direcciSn en que giran las manillas det reloj,

solapando un poco para recaudar los recortes en

la pr6xima pasad&

• Los pores en los recogedores de c6sped de tela

pueden llenarse con mugre y polvo con el use y

los recogedores recaudar#¢_menos c6sped.

Para evitar 6sto, rocfe el recogedor con la

manguera de agua regularrnente y d6jelo

secarse antes de usadoo

o Mantenga la parte superior del motor, alrededor

del arrancador, despejada y sin recortes de

c6sped y paja..Esto ayudar& el flujo del aire del

motor y extender& la duraci6n 6ste,

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR Y

ACOLCHAR

IMPORTANTE: Para obtener el mejor

rendimiento mantenga la caja de la segadora

sin acumulacion de cesped y basurao Vea

"limpieza" en la seccion de

"RESPONSABILfDADES DEL CLIENTE" de

este manual.

• La cuchilla acolchadora especial va a votver a

corar los recedes de c6sped muchas veces,

y los reduce en tamaf_o, de mode que si se

caen en el c6sped se van a dispesar entre

6ste y no se van a notate Tambi6n, el c6sped

acolchado se va a deshacer rdpidamente

entregando substancias nutritivas para el

c6sped. Siempre acolche con la velocidad del

motor (cuchilla) m6s alta, pues asi se

obtendr_ la mejor acci6n de recorte de las

cuchillaso

• Evite cortar el c6sped cuando est6 mojadoo El

c6sped mojado tiende a format montones e

interfiere con la acci6n de acolchado.. La

meier hera para segar et c6sped es temprane

en la tardeo A esa hera 6ste se ha secade y el

&rea reci6n cot ada no quedar,_ expuesta al

sol directo.

o Para obtener los mejores resufrados, ajuste la

altura del corte de la segadora de mode que

6sta corte solamente el tercio superior de las

hojas de c6sped. En el case de que el

c6sped haya crecido demasiado, puede ser

necesario el elevar la altura del code para

reducir el esfuerzo necesarie para empujar la

segadora y para evitar sobrecargar el motor,

dejando montones de recortes de c6spe&

el ancho del corte pasando per encima det

lugar anteriormente cod ado y siegue

lentamente_

• Cied os tipos de c6sped y sus condiciones

pueden exigir que un _rea tenga que set

acolchada per segunda vez para esconder

completamente los recod es_ Cuando se haga

el segundo code, siegue atravesado o en

forma perpendicular a la pasada de! primer

code.

o Cambie su patr6n de corte de semana a

semana. Siegue de node a sur una semana y

luego cambie de este a oeste la pr6xima

RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES

La garantia de esta segadora no cubre los articulos

que han estado sujetos al abuso o a la negligencia

del operador. Para recibir todo etvalor de la

garantia, el operador tiene que mantener la

segadora segun las instrucciones descdtas en este

manual.

Hay algunos ajustes que se tJenenque hacer en

forma peri_lica para poder mantener su unidad

adecuadamente.

Todos los ajustes en la secci6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual tienen que ser revisados

per 1omenos un vez pot cada temporada

= Una vez al aSo, cambie la bujfa, limpie o cambie

el elemento del filtro de alre y revise si ta cuchilia

est& desgastadao Una bujia nueva y un elemento

del nitro de alre limpio/nuevo aseguran la mezcla

CUIDADO DE LA CUCHILLA

PARA REMOVER LA CUCHILLA

° Desconecte el alambre de la bujfa y pSngalo

en donde no pueda entrar en contacto con

_sta.

• Haga descansar la segadora en su ladoo

Asegt'Jrese que el filtro de aire y que el

carburador queden mirando hacia arriba.

, Use un bloque de madera entre la cuchilla y

la caja de la segadora para evitar que la

cuchilla gire cuando se le quite el pemoo

• Proteja sus manos con guantes y/o envuelva

la cuchilla con una tela gruesa.

• Remueva el perno de la cuchilla gir_ndolo en

el sentido contrario en que giran las manillas

def relojo .

- Remueva la cuchilla y los art[cu!os de

ferreter{a adjuntadores (el perno, la arandela

de seguridad y la arandela endurecida)o

AVISO: Remueva el adaptador de la cuchilla y

revise el cubo interior de ta ranura del

adaptador de la cuchilla. La ranura tiene que

estar en buenas condiciones para que funcione

en forma adecuada. Cambie el adaptador si

eat& dafiado.

PARA CAMBIAR LA CUCHILLA

, Ponga el adaptador de la cuchilla en el

cigueRal del motor. AsegLtrese que la ranura

del adaptador y que el chavetero del cigueSal

est_n alineados.

• Ponga la cuch]lla en el adaptador de _sta

alineando los dos (2) agujeros en la cuchitla

con las salientes elevadas en el adaptador.

• Asegt_rese de que el borde de salida de la

cuchilla (opuesto al borde afilado) est_ hacia

arriba hacia el motor.

• Instale el perno de la cuchilia con la arandela

de seguddad y la arandela endurecida en el

adaptador de la cuchilla y el ciguefiaL

o Use un bloque de madera entre la cuchiUa y

la caja de ta segadora y apriete el perno de la

cuchilla gir&ndolo en el sentido en que giran

las mani!las det reloj.

• La torslSn para apretar recomendada es de

35 - 40 pies libraso

IMPORTANTE: EL PERNO DE LA CUCHILLA

ES CLASE 8 TRATADO A CALOR.

AVISO- No recomendamos el afitar la cuchilla -

pero si Iohace, asegOrese de que quede

balanceada,

PARA AFILAR LA CUCHILLA

Se tiene que tener cuidado de mantenerta

balanceada. Una cuchilla que no estA

balanceada va a producir eventualmente daSo

en la segadora o en el motor°

o La cuchilla puede afilarse con una lima o en

una rueda rectificadorao No trate de afilarla

mientras se encuentra en la segadora.

o Para revisar el balance de la cuchilla, clave

un clavo en una viga o en la pared. Deje

alrededor de una pulgada de un clavo recto

expuesto, Ponga el agujero central de la

cuchilla sobre la cabeza del clavo. Si la

cuchilla est& balanceada debe permanecer

en la posici6n horizontal, Si cualquiera de los

extremos de la cuchilla se mueve hacia

abajo, afile el extremo pesado hasta que _sta

quede balanceada.,

CAJA DE ENGRANAJES

• Para mantener el sistema de impulsi6n

funcionando en forma adecuada, la caja de

engranajes y el _rea atrededor de la

impulsi6n tienen que mantenerse limpias y

sin acumulaciSn de basura. Limpie debajo de

la cubierta de la impulsiSn dos veces por

temporada.

o La caja de engranajes se Ilena con lubricante

hasta et nivel adecuado en la f_,bdca, La

t_nica vez que el lubrieante necesita atenci6n

es cuando se le ha prestado servicio a la caja

de engranajes.

o Si se necesita lubricante, use solamente"

RUEDAS DE IMPULSION

Revise las ruedas de impulsiSn delanteras cada

vez antes de segar, para asegurarse de que se

mueven librementeo

Si las ruedas no giran libremente quiere decir

que hay basura, recortes de c_sped, etco en el

_rea de las ruedas de impulsi6n y tienen que

timpiarse para liberaflaSo

Es necesario limpiar las ruedas de impulsidn;

revise ambas ruedas delanteras.

° Remueva los tapacubos, las clavijas de

horquilla y las arandetas_

° Remueva las ruedas de los ajustadores de

las ruedas,

o Remueva la basura y los recortes de c#sped

de dentro de la cubierta contra et polvo, pifi6n

y!o de los dientes de los engranajes de las

ruedas de impulsi6n.

° Ponga las ruedas de vuelta en su lugar.

- Si despu_s de limpiar las ruedas de

impulsiSn no giran libremente, pSngase en

contacto con su centro de servicio m&s

cercano.

RECOGEDOR DE CESPED

° El recogedor de c6sped puede ser rociado

con el agua de ta manguera pero tiene que

estar seco cuando se vaya a usaro

• Revise su recogedor de c_sped a menudo

para verificar si est& dafiado o deterioradoo

Se va a desgastar con el uso normal. Si se

necesita cambiar el recogedor, c_.mbielo

solamente por uno que sea aprobado por el

fabricante. D_ el nQmero del modelo de la

segadora cuando lo ordene.

MOTOR

LUBRICACION

Use sotamente aceite de detergente de alta

calidad clasificado con ta clasificaci6n SF o SG

de servicio API. Seleccione la calidad de

viscosidad SAE segun su temperatura de

operaciSn esperada.

CALIDADES DE VI$COSIDAD DE SAE

AVISO: A pesar de que Ios aceites de

multiviscosidad (5W30, 10W30, etc.) mejoran el

arranque en clima fdo, estos aceites de

multiviscosidad van a aumentar el consumo de

aceite cuando se usan en temperaturas sobre

32° F. Revise el nivel del aceite del motor m&s a

menudo, para evitar un posible daho en el

motor, debido a que no tiene suficiente aceiteo

Cambie el aceite despu_s de las dos pdmeras

horas de operaci6n y cada 25 horas de ahi en

Revise el nlvel del aceite del c_rter antes de

arrancar el motor y despu_s de cada cinco (5)

horas de uso continuado. Apriete e! tap6n del

aceite en forma segura cada vez que revise el

nivel det aceite.

PARA CAMBIAR EL AOEITE DEL

MOTOR

AVISO: Antes de inclinar la segadora para

drenar el aceite, drene el tanque de combustible

haciendo correr eJmotor hasta que el tanque

est_ vacio,

° Desconecte el alambre de la bujfa y p6ngalo

de modo que no pueda entrar en contacto

con _sta,.

° Remueva la tapa del depSsito del aceite;

d_jela a un lado en una superficie limpiao

• Incline la segadora y h_,gala descansar en su

lado y drene el aceite en un envase

adecuado. Mueva la segadora de atr&s para

adelante para remover todo el aceite que se

haya quedado atrapado dentro del motor.

• Limpie todo el aceite derramado en la

segadora yen el tado del motor.

• Llene el motor con aceite. Lldnelo solamente

hasta la lfnea de "LLENO" (FULL) en la varilla

indicadora de nlvel. NO LO LLENE

DEMASIADO.

° Vuelva a porter la tapa en el dep6sito deI

aceite,

• Vuelva a conectar el afambre de la bujfa a

_sta.

FILTRO DE AIRE

Su motor no funcionar& en forma adecuada y

puede sufrir daSos si se usa un filtro de aire sucio.

Cambie elfiltro de aire cada ar3o,y m&s a menudo

si siega en condiciones muy polvorosas o sucias.

No lave el flltro de alre.

PARA CAMB1AR EL FILTRO DEAIRE

• Remueva et fiitro de airegir'_dolo en el sentido

contrario en que giran las manillas del refoj, hasta

el tope, y retirelo del ooltar.

. Remueva el filtro de laparle interior de la

cubierta.

• Limpie la parle interior de la cubierta y el collar

para remover toda acumutaciSn de mugre.

° Inserte el fittro nuevo en la cubierta.

• Ponga la cubierta del filtro de aire dentro del

collar alineando la oreja con la ranura.

• Empuje ta cubierta hacia adenlzo y gfrela en et

sentido de las manillas del reloj para

apretarla.

BUJIA

Carnbie su bujfa cada aSo para hacer que su motor

arranque m_s f&cilmente y funcione mejor. Ajuste la

aberlura de la buj/a en 0,030 pulgada,

LIMPIEZA

IMPORTANTE: Para obtener el mejor rende--

mento, mantenga la caja de la segador sin

acumulation de cesped y basura. Limpie la parte de

abajo de su segadora despues de cada uso.

PRECAUCION: Desconecte el alambre de la bujia

y p6ngalo en donde no pueda entTaren contacto

con _sta_

o Haga descansar la segadora en su lado.

Aseg_rese que el filtro de aire y que el

carburador queden mirando hacia arriba. Umpie

la parle inferior de su segadora rasp_qdola para

remover laacumulaciOn de c_sped y basura..

o Limpie el motor a menudo para evitar que se

acumule la basura. Un motor tapado funciona

m&s caliente y se acorta su duraciOn_

• Mantenga las superficies acabadas y las ruedas

sin gasolina, aceite, etco

° No recomendamos e! uso de una manguera de

jard[n para limpiar la segadora a menos que el

sistema el_,ctrico,el silenciador, el filt_o de aire y

el carburador est_n tapados para evitar que ]es

entre el agua. El agua en el motor puede acortar

la duraciSn de _ste,

LIMPIE DEBAJO DE LA CUBIERTA DE LA

IMPULSION

Limpie debajo de la cubierla de la impulsiSn por Io

menos dos veces cada temporada. Raspe debajo

de la cubierla con un cuchi!lo para masilla o con

una herramienta parecida, para remover toda

acumulaci6n de c_sped o basura en la parte inferior

de la cubierta de la impulsiSn.,

PRECAUCION: Antes de dar calquier servicio o

de hacer ajustes:

° Suelte ta barra de control y pare el motor°

. Aseg5rese que la cuchilla y que todas las

partes movibles se hayan detenido

completamente.

o Desconecte el alambre de la bujfa y pSngalo

en donde no pueda entrar en contacto con

_sta_

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE

DESVlADOR TRASERO

Se proporciona un desviador trasero, adjunto

entre las ruedas traseras de su segadora, para

reducir a un mfnimo la posibilidad que objetos

sean lanzados hacia afuera de la parle trasera

de la segadora, en la posicl6n en donde ss

encuentra el operador. Si se dafia et desviador

debe cambiarse.

PARA REMOVER/CAMBIAR LA CORREA

IMPULSION

• Remueva la cubierta de la impulsi6n. Remueva

la correa empujando hacia abajo en la polea de

la caja de engranajes.

- Haga descansar la segadora en su lado con el

filtro de aire y el carburador mirando hacia arriba_

• Remueva la cuchUla°

• Remueva la defensa en contra del desperdicio..

, Remueva la correa de la polea del motor en el

ciguefaL

. Instale la correa nueva siguiendo los pasos

anteriores en el orden inverso,

° Siempre use la co_ea aprobada por la f&bdca

para asegurarse que calce y dure,

PARA AJUSTAR EL MANGO

Se puede levantar o bajar el mango de su

segadora segQn te quede c6modo. Hay cuatro

(4) posiciones disponibles: alta, mediana alta,

mediana baja, baja, Los mangos se envfan

montados en la posici6n mediana baja.

• Para cambiar de la posiciSn mediana baja a

mediana alta, la secci6n superior y la inferior

del mango tendr&n que darse vuelta.

. Remueva las abrazaderas del cable.

. Remueva los controles y la barra de control

que exige la presencia del operador del

mango superior.

o Remueva las clavijas de horquillao

• Desconecte el mango inferior de los puntales

del mango°

o De vuelta el mango y vuelva a montar las

clavijas de horquilla que se habian removido,

° Vuelva a montar los controles y la barra de

controles que exige la presencia del operador

en el man£o superior.

PRECAUCiON: La barra de control que exige la

presencia del operador tiene que pivotear

libremente para permitir el enganche de la

cuchilla/freno cuando se suelta ta barra de

control. No apriete demasiado los sujetadores

que sujetan a los controles al mango superior_

o Para cambiar de ta posici6n de mediana baja

a alta solamente se tendr& que dar vuelta la

secci6n del mango superior.

, Para cambiar de la posiciSn mediana baja a

baja, solamente se tendrA que dar vuelta ta

secci6n de! mango inferior,

MOTOR

CARBURADOR

Su carburador tiene un chorro principal fijo no

ajustable para controlar la mezcla. Si su motor

no est& funcionando en forma adecuada debido

a problemas que se sospecha vienen del

carburador, fleve su segadora a un centro de

servicio autorizado para repararla y/o ajustarla

VELOCIDAD DEL MOTOR

La vetocidad del motor ha sido ajustada en la

f_brica, No trate de aumentar la velocidad de!

motor pues se pueden producir lesiones

personales. Si cree que e! motor est&

funcionando demasiado r&pido o demasiado

lento, Ileve su segadora a un centro de servicio

autorizado para repararla o ajustarla.

Inmediatamente prepare su segadora para el

almacenamiento al final de cada temporada o si

la unidad no se va a usar por 30 dfas o m&s.

SEGADORA

Cuando se va a guardar la segadora pot cierto

perfodo de tiempo, Ifmpiela cuidadosamente,

remueva toda la mugre, la grasa, las hojas, etc.

Gu&rdela en un &rea limpia y secao

• Limpie toda la segadora (Vea "L1MPIEZA" en

la secciSn de Responsabilidades del Cliente

de este manual).

, Lubdquela segt3n se muestra en la secci6n

de Responsabilidades del Cliente de este

manual.

o Asegt]rese de que todas las tuercas y clavijas

y todos los pernos y tornil!os est6n apretados

en foma segura. Inspeccione las partes que

se mueven para verificar si est_m daRadas,

quebradas o desgastadas, C_,mbielas si es

necesario.

• Retoque todas las superficies que est_n

oxidadas o con la pintura picada; use una lija

antes de pintaro

MANGO

Puede doblar el mango de su segadora para

almacenarla.

° Apfiete los extremos inferiores de! mango

inferior entre sf hasta que el mango inferior

quede separado _et puntal del mango, luego

mu6valo hacia adelante.

• Suelte los pernos de montaje de! mango

superior Io suficiente como para permitir que

el mango superior se pueda doblar hacia

atr&s.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando doble et mango para el

anmacenamiento o el transporte, asegurese

que Io _oble segun se muestra o puede danar

los cables de control.

- Cuando prepare sus mangos a partir de la

posiciSn de almacenamiento, el mango

inferior autom_.ticamente se asegurar,_ en la

posiciSn para segar.

MOTOR

SlSTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: Es importante evitar que se

formen depositos de goma en partes

fundamentales de! sistema de combustible tales

como e! carburador, et filtro del combustible, la

manguera del combustible o en el estanque

durante el almacenamientoo La experincia

tambien endica que los combustibles Mezclados

con alcohol (conocido como gasohol o que

tienen etanol o metanoi) pueden atraer

humedad, Io queconduce a la separacion y a la

formacion de acidos durante el

almacenamiento. La gaso!!na acdica puede

danar el sistema de combustible de un motor

durante el periodo de almacenamiento.

° Drene el estanque de combustible.

• Haga arrancar el motor y d_jelo funcionar

hasta que las Ifneas del combustible y et

carburador estSn vacfos.

• Nunca use los productos para limpieza del

carburador o del motor en el estanque de

combustible pues se pueden producir daSos

permanentes.

• Use combustible nuevo la pr6xima

temporada.

AMISO: El estabilizador de combustible es una

alternativa aceptable para reducir a un mfnimo

la formaci6n de dep6sitos de goma en el

combustible durante el perfodo de

almacenamiento. Agregue estabilizador a la

gasolina en el estanque de combustible o en el

envase para el almacenamiento. Siempre siga

la proporciSn de mezcla que se encuentra en el

envase del estabilizador, Haga funcionar el

motor por Io menos 10 minutos despu6s de

agregar el estabilizador, para permitir que este

llegue al carburadoro No drene la gasolina del

estanque de gasolina y et carburador si se est&

usando estabilizador de combustible.

ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Drene el aceite (con et motor caliente) y

c_mbielo con aceite de motor limpio= (Yea

"MOTOR" en la secci6n de Responsabilidades

de! Cliente de este manual.)

ClLINDRO

. Remueva la bujfa,

- Vacfe una onza (29 ml) de ace°t° a trav_s del

agujero de la buj(a en el cilindro_

° Tire la manilta de arranque lentamente unas

cuantas veces para distribuir el aceite.

• Vuelva a montar la nueva bujia,

OTROS

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a la

otra,

. Cambie el envase de la gasolina sise

empieza a oxidar° La oxidaci6n y/o la mugre

en su gasolina producir_n problemas,

o Si es posible, guard° su unidad enun recinto

cerrado y cubrala para protegerla contra _t

polvo y la mugre

• Cubra su unidad con un forro protector

adecuado que no retenga la hum°dad No

use pl_stico. EI pl_stico no puede respirar, Io

que permite la formaci6n de condensaci6n, Io

que producir& la oxidaci6n de su unidad,

IMPORTANTE: Nunca cubra la segadora

nientras el motor y las areas de escape todavia

estan calientes

PRECAUCl6N: Nunca almacene la segadora

con gasolina en el estanque dentro de un

edificio en donde los gases pueden alcanzar

una llama expuesta o una chispa, Permita que

se enffie el motor antes de almacenarla en

atghn recinto cerrado
