OPERATION

feet.
Theauger/impellercontrolleverisasafetydevice.Neverbypassitsoperation.
Doingsomakesthe machineunsafeandmaycausepersonalinjury.
Thecontrolleversmustoperateeasilyin bothdirectionsandautomatically
returnto the disengagedpositionwhenreleased.
Neveroperatewith amissingordamagedchuteassembly.Keepall safety
devicesinplaceandworking.
Neverrunanengineindoorsor inapoorlyventilatedarea.Engineexhaust
containscarbonmonoxide,anodorlessanddeadlygas.
Donotoperatemachinewhileunderthe influenceof alcoholordrugs.
Mufflerandenginebecomehot andcancauseaburn.Donottouch.Keep
childrenaway.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonorcrossinggravelsurfaces.Stay
alertforhiddenhazardsor traffic.

Donotoverloadmachinecapacitybyattemptingto clearsnowat toofastof
arate.
Neveroperatethismachinewithoutgoodvisibilityor light. Alwaysbesureof
yourfootingandkeepafirm holdon the handles.Walk,neverrun.
Disengagepowerto theauger/impellerwhentransportingor not in use.
Neveroperatemachineat hightransportspeedsonslipperysurfaces.Look
downandbehindandusecarewhenbackingup.
If themachineshouldstartto vibrateabnormally,stopthe engine,
disconnectthesparkplugwire andgrounditagainsttheengine.Inspect
thoroughlyfordamage.Repairanydamagebeforestartingandoperating.
Disengageall controlleversandstopenginebeforeyouleavetheoperating
position(behindthehandles).Waituntil the auger/impellercomesto
acompletestopbeforeuncloggingthechuteassembly,makingany
adjustments,or inspections.
Neverput yourhandin thedischargeorcollectoropenings.Donotunclog
chuteassemblywhileengineisrunning.Shutoff engineandremainbehind
handlesuntil all movingpartshavestoppedbeforeunclogging.
Useonlyattachmentsandaccessoriesapprovedbythemanufacturer(e.g.
wheelweights,tirechains,cabsetc.).
Whenstartingengine,pullcordslowlyuntil resistanceisfelt, then pull
rapidly.Rapidretractionof startercord(kickback)will pullhandandarm
towardenginefasterthanyoucanlet go.Brokenbones,fractures,bruisesor
sprainscouldresult.
CLEARING A CLOGGED DISCHARGE CHUTE
Handcontactwith therotatingimpellerinsidethedischargechuteisthemost
commoncauseof injuryassociatedwith snowthrowers.Neveruseyourhandto
cleanoutthedischargechute.
Toclearthe chute:
a. SHUTTHEENGINEOFF!
b. Wait10secondsto besurethe impellerbladeshavestopped
rotating.
c. Alwaysuseaclean-outtool,notyourhands.
MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
Nevertamperwith safetydevices.Checktheirproperoperationregularly.
Referto the maintenanceandadjustmentsectionsof thismanual.
Beforecleaning,repairing,orinspectingmachinedisengageall control
leversandstoptheengine.Waituntil theauger/impellercometo acomplete
stop.Disconnectthesparkplugwire andgroundagainsttheengineto
preventunintendedstarting.
Checkboltsandscrewsforpropertightnessatfrequentintervalsto keepthe
machineinsafeworkingcondition.Also,visuallyinspectmachineforanydamage.
Donotchangethe enginegovernorsettingor over-speedtheengine.The
governorcontrolsthemaximumsafeoperatingspeedof theengine.
Snowthrowershaveplatesandskidshoesaresubjectto wearanddamage.
Foryoursafetyprotection,frequentlycheckallcomponentsandreplace
with originalequipmentmanufacturer's(OEM)partsonlyaslistedinthe
Partspagesofthis Operator'sManual.Useof partswhichdo notmeetthe
originalequipmentspecificationsmayleadto improperperformanceand
compromisesafety!
Checkcontrolleversperiodicallyto verifythey engageanddisengage
properlyandadjust,if necessary.Referto theadjustmentsectioninthis
operator'smanualfor instructions.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,asnecessary.
Observeproperdisposallawsandregulationsforgas,oil,etc.to protectthe
environment.
Priorto storing,runmachineafewminutesto clearsnowfrom machineand
preventfreezeupof auger/impeller.
Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerinsidewherethereisanopen
flame,sparkor pilot light suchasa waterheater,furnace,clothesdryeretc.
Alwaysreferto the operator'smanualforproperinstructionsonoff-season
storage.
Checkfuelline,tank,cap,andfittings frequentlyforcracksorleaks.Replace
if necessary.
Donotcrankenginewithsparkplugremoved.
Accordingto the ConsumerProductsSafetyCommission(CPSC)andthe U.S.
EnvironmentalProtectionAgency(EPA),thisproducthasanAverageUsefulLife
of seven(7)years,or60 hoursofoperation.Attheendof theAverageUseful
Lifehavethemachineinspectedannuallybyanauthorizedservicedealerto
ensurethatallmechanicalandsafetysystemsareworkingproperlyandnot
wornexcessively.Failureto dosocanresultinaccidents,injuriesor death.
