ENGINE CYLINDER
FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It is importantto prevent bum
depositsfrom forming in essentialjuel system
pads suchas carburetor,fuel filter,fuel hose,
or tank dunng storabe.Also, experience
indicates thatalcololblindedfuels (called
gasohol orusingethanol or methanol) can
attractmoisturewhichleads to separation and
formationof acids duringstorage. Acidicgas
can damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage.
Drain the fuel tank.
Start the engine and let itrun untilthe fuel
linesand carburetor are empty.
Never use engine or carburetorcleaner
products inthe fuel tank or permanent
damage may occur.
Use fresh fuel nextseason.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizeris an acceptable
alternative in minimizingthe formationoffuel
gum deposits during storage. Add stabilizerto
gasoline infuel tank or storagecontainer.
Always fellowthe mix ratiofound on stabilizer
container. Run engine at least 10 minutes
after adding stabilizerto allow the stabilizerto
reach the carburetor. Do notdrainthe gas
tank and carburetor ifusingfuel stabilizer.
ENGINE OIL
Remove spark plug.
Pour one ounce (29 ml) ofoilthrough spark
plughole intocylinder.
Pullstarterhandle slowlya few times to
distributeoil.
Replace withnew spark plug.
OTHER
Do notstore gasoline from one season to
another.
Replace your gasolinecan ifyour can starts
to rust. Rustand/or dirtin yourgasoline will
cause problems.
Ifpossible,store yourunitindoorsand cover
itto giveprotectionfrom dustand dirt.
Cover your unitwith a suitable protective
cover that does not retainmoisture. Do not
use plastic. Plasticcannot breathe which
allowscondensation toform and willcause
your unitto rust.
IMPORTANT: Never cover mower while
engine and exhaust areas are stillwarm.
CAUTION: Never store the lawn mowerwith
gasolineinthe tank insidea buildingwhere
fumes may reach an open flame or spark.
Allowthe engine to cool beforestoring in any
enclosure.
Drainoil(withenginewarm)and replacewith
clean engineoil. (See "ENGINE"inthe
CustomerResponsibilitiessectionofthis
manual).
